The Academy Awards, officially known as The Oscars, are a set of awards
given annually to honor the best and the most excellence of cinematic
achievements. We all remember this unforgettable moments, sublime
speeches full of tears , joy and acknowledgments. Every year there are winners and losers. Most of the
Academy choices are right, but some of them are obvious mistake.
#7Jack Nicholson
Jack Nicholson is one of the most-nominated male actor in Academy Awards history with twelve nominations. (eight for Best Actor and four for Best Supporting Actor). Despite his large number of nominations, Jack has only won Best Actor twice: for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest , As Good as It Gets and Best Supporting Actor once: for the "Terms of Endearment."His nine losses include such memorable movies as Easy Rider , Chinatown and A Few Good Men .

Martin Scorsese is widely regarded as one of the greatest directors in the world. His Raging Bull, Goodfellas or Gangs of New York changed history of cinematography.
He has been nominated 8 times. Until 2007 when he finally took home the Best Director statue for The Departed he had never won the Academy Award.

Al Pacino’s role as Frank Slade in Scent of a Woman won him the Oscar for Best Actor in 1993 after previously losing seven times. His iconic roles as Michael Corleone in Godfather or Frank Serpico in Serpico did not give him Academy Awards.

Samuel L. Jackson has appeared in over 100 films including Die Hard, Jackie Brown, Unthinkable , Shaft, Unbreakable
Django Unchained, as well as the Star Wars prequel trilogy and small role in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 2. He was nominated only once for his unforgettable and magnificent role in Pulp Fiction in 1994. Unfortunately the award for Best Supporting actor went to Martin Landau for Ed Wood.

Johnny Depp is known as one of the most
popular and talented actors in Hollywood. He has been nominated three times. In 2004 for his iconic Jack Sparow in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Year after he was nominated for Finding Neverland. His latest nomination was for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in 2008. Despite the fact that he is considered as one of the best actors in movie industry he has never gotten the Oscar.

Roman Polański is considered as one of
the few "truly international filmmakers” and one of the greatest Polish directors. He has been nominated 5 times. The Acadamy honored him in 2003 for Best Director for The Pianist, but his other works such as Chinatown, Tess or his undeniable masterpiece Rosmery’s Baby stayed unnoticed.
#1Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock is considered as the biggest
authority in history of the cinematography. He pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. Alfred Hitchcock was nominated a total of five times for Best Director during his career. Though the movies he was nominated for, including Rear Window and Psycho, picked up other major awards, Hitchcock himself was never able to secure the big prize.
