The Global Village Hawaii Teen ActivityProgram (TAP) combines classroom Englishlessons with integrated daily fun activities.
Classes will be held at the campus of ArgosyUniversity. Argosy University offers manyundergraduate and graduate programs, alibrary, computer lab and a student lounge.The campus is on 4th floor of the American
Savings Bank Tower, located in the heart ofbeautiful downtown Honolulu. The campusis about a 30 minute bus ride from Waikiki.
Students learn about our island homesunique culture, improve their English andmake new friends during their stay inHawaii. Teens are welcomed into the homeof one of our host families.
English lessons begin at 8:30 and end at11:20 am, Monday through Friday. Afterlunch, students join one of the activities
we have planned for them whether it is aday at the beach, learning the hula, hikingDiamond Head, and riding on a Catamaran!
Saturdays consist of a day long activity suchas a tour around the island or a day at thewater park. These activities give students achance to interact in English and make newfriends with their classmates in a differentenvironment. Sunday is a free day wherestudents can bond with their host families!

PARENT AND CHILD PROGRAMThe GV Toronto Parent and Child Programprovides families the opportunity to travel,study, and experience Toronto together!This package comes in 2, 3, or 4 weekoptions, and includes 20 lessons per weekof English at GV Toronto for the parents, and15 lessons per week held at the University ofToronto for the children.
Parents and children will stay in the samehomestay family, study in programs suitedto their ages, and have the opportunity toparticipate in activities together. Childrenare fully supervised at the University of
Toronto by GV Toronto staff, and can beescorted to GV Toronto following classes ifrequested. Add-on Activity Packages areavailable for parents wishing to participatein afternoon and/or weekend activitiesalong with their children.

High School Academic Preparation is aprogram designed to help prepare students
to meet academic challenges they will facein Canadian high schools. The programincludes academic writing, grammar review,academic speaking and listening, academicstudy skills, presentation skills, and researchskills.
Elective classes supplement the morningprogram, covering English for high schoolsubject areas of social studies, geography,history, math, science and computers.
This is a rigorous, demanding program.Students must register for a minimum of25 lessons per week and be at a GV 4 levelof English. Those students who are not atGV 4 level at time of arrival may be placedin General English in lieu of AcademicPreparation.

The family enjoys avariety of activities such as walking, hiking, camping and swimming.Host mother especially loves reading and crafts, while host fatherenjoys his computer and guitar. The student is most welcome to
join them in any of their family activities.

FAQsQ: How can I apply for my child?
A: Applications can be made directly to GlobalVillage via fax, email, or our website. You can alsoapply through your favourite study travel agent.

Q: What other documents will I need to preparebefore my child leaves?
A: 1) You will need to complete and sign the GVUnderage Agreement, which will be provided bythe school upon application.
2) If your child will be studying in Canada, you willalso need to sign a custodial document to allowan adult to be responsible for your child whileoverseas; our Registration staff will help you withthis.
3) Your child will need a valid passport, andpossibly a visa (please check with the Canadianor US Embassy or Consulate in your country fordetails).
4) Your child will need travel/medical insurance(minimum $500,000; $250,000 in Hawaii).

Q: How can I be sure my child will be safe?A: Global Village schools put enormous time and
resources into ensuring the safety of our juniorstudents, from carefully-screened homestaysto fully-supervised outings. We ensure that ouryoung students are given all the information theyneed about safety in each GV location, as well asinformation about local laws and customs. Aswell, we have staff in each of our schools who arealways ready to speak with our junior studentsshould they have any questionsor concerns.
We have hosted thousands of junior studentsover the last 20+ years, and have an excellentreputation for providing them with safe,enjoyable, and memorable experiences!
Q: How can I stay in touch with my child while he/she is away?
A: All GV schools provide free internet to ourstudents. Our campuses are wireless, and studentshave access to multiple computer labs; students
are welcome to email their friends and families intheir native language.
As well, students can purchase pre-paid callingcards to make long-distance phone calls from theirhomestays (subject to homestay family approval).
Q: Why should I send my child to study abroad?
A: A child who spends time studying abroad gainsmany advantages: English language skills improve very quickly in
an immersion environment. Children gain self-confidence when given a
chance to travel on their own. Our programs draw young students from all
over the world - your child will have thechance to make friends from many differentcountries.
Early exposure to an internationalenvironment will open greater future studyand work options for your child in this time ofglobalization.

A: Absolutely! Of course, the degree of improvement
depends on each individuals study habits andcommitment, but young students learn languagevery quickly and we see terrific improvement inour junior students abilities in a very short time.Our excellent Academics, Accommodation, andActivities ensure that our junior students work, live,and play in an English-immersion environment.
