TRANSCRIPT
Civic Association Green Doors
Is a non-profit non-governmental organisation, which in Pragueprovides different vocational and social rehabilitation programs, mainly for young people, in early stage of psychotic disease. We support these people to overcome the crises and join to
“common” life, return back to school or employment. Our organisation is focused mainly on those projects, where are connected the services for public with vocational and social rehabilitation – training cafés,cultural events, concerts, exhibitions etc. The clients are in every day contact with the public and regular
“market” environment through these activities. We want to change this way the general public awareness about mental health, higher the chance of early detection of the illness and increase the possibility of the clients to return to school or to open
job market.

What makes c.a. Green Doors a good practice?
An unique idea of open café for public, where vocational and social rehabilitation and integration cultural events take place ?
History of the organisation – stability and experiences?
Cooperation with other services?
Work with media?
Specialisation on “early-intervention”?
A partly self-financing ability?
Work with public (cultural events, exhibitions, seminars, etc.)
What makes c.a. Green Doors a good practice?
Ongoing development? – creating new projects based on needs of the clients - supporting and developing internal structure and organisation
Support system for the workers?
Try to have a good name – spend a lot of time in communication, be open to cooperation, answer to the questions, try to fill all promises, fill our “mission”, goals and definitions?
But maybe, we should ask somebody else, why c.a.Green Doorscan have a name of a good practice...
Education activities?
Difficulties and possible solutions Lack of financial sources
– lack of stability and no possibility to plan for longer period - unsafe incomes from donors but also from business activities
Financial support only for limited period Change or development of the activities because of grant themes, not because of need
of the organisation or needs of the clients
Try to keep the activities and plan the activities with expecting, that we can get the financial sources but also not – to have the vision but also crises solutions Try to find financial sources where we can (higher the profit in the cafés,
apply grants we can apply, ask companies for financial help or investments, find good friends, who can help in hard time) To have clear definition and mission of the organisation, so we can better
decide, which way to go, what we can change or develop and what is out of our mission
;
Supporting of inovation projects, it is hard to apply for already running activities (on the activities it self, but also for management and administration work (staff)
Difficulties and possible solutions
Lack of human sources - lack of time, high stress and demands of the work
High demands of operational part of the activities (administration, organisation, high demands on staff)
Complicated balance between rehabilitation programs and operational demands.
Try to do at first, what is “hot” and gradually learning time management Try to make a realistic plan of the work – based on evaluation of the
work and experiences
Using all supportive activities for the workers, work on our own psycho-hygiene
Try to keep the same attention to rehabilitation and operational questions Try to support human sources – through higher financial sources – so there
is enough capacity for both part of the work Using supportive activities for the workers, work on our own psycho-hygiene
Dubble high demand on workers in cafés – operational stress and work with clients
Difficulties and possible solutions Lack of systematic and planned work with media
Lack of PR, no professional on this work
Communication with other organisations, professionals, governmental organisations and offices can be complicated sometimes
Try to higher human source and hire professionals
To have a “media patron”, to higher publicity and possible financial sources
To learn the PR work our selves or to ask our friends to help us
Try to cooperate with other organisations, join to local or national campaigns or events around MH care
Trying always and always, if the contact start to work – take care of that and maintain the contact. Personal contact works much better.
Organise common events, seminars, presentations, visits etc. Participate in seminars, conferences, “open days” etc.
