KEK-PS scientific activities 1995-2000
KEK-PS 外部評価委員会
This very topical experiment addresses the issue of dropping meson masses in dense matter by bomberding nuclear target with 12 GeV protons to form φ,ω and ρ mesons. The subject is being dealt with also, but differently, by other laboratories. The instrumentation used in this experiment is very nice, and the preliminary results show medium effect. With CERES still not having better data, and with the beautiful appearance of φ mass peak in this experiment, it should be a high priority to complete the analysis of the 1999 data. Experimentally more work has to be done particularly for the in-medium decay of ω and ρ mesons. Hence, this experiment deserves continuation with high priority.
