Dear friends,

The preservation of the world’s cultural heritage is one of the major tasks of international institutions. Every four years since 1896, except for three cancellations caused by two world wars, the best amateur athletes in the world have met to test their physical ability and skills in the modern Olympic Games. Next year many of you will participate to the Winter Olympic Games in Sotchi. Slovak Figure Skating Association is happy and proud to participate there too. Great Frenchman Pierre de Coubertin realized that the Olympic Games could be a powerful instrument for creating international understanding and friendship. The idea was welcomed enthusiastically by sportsmen all over the world. The 21st Ondrej Nepela Trophy is small contribution of Slovak’s sport friends. All the best and have a nice impression from Bratislava

Maria Hrachovcova Director of OC

Dear friends of sport,

On behalf of the Slovak Figure Skating Association I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone attending the 21st Ondrej Nepela Trophy in Bratislava.Ondrej Nepela was the only gold Olympic medal winner in the history of gure skating in Slovakia. This competition is taking place in the Ice Rink bearing the name of Ondrej Nepela. It is a completely new stadium, but now stands on the site of the old stadium where he grew up and practiced. You will compete in a competition which is probably for some of you the rst one in this season. Strong people know how to create opportunities for themselves. I believe that every competitor will use to the maximum of their opportunities and make us witnesses to some of the top athletic and artistic performances.I wish all the athletes the best of luck, and success in the pursuit of their daring goals. Have a nice time in Bratislava and enjoy the competition.Good luck to everybody

Bratislava a jedna z najkrajších disciplín športu – krasokorčuľovanie – k sebe určite patria. Veď úspechy rodáka, športovca takého formátu aký bol Ondrej Nepela, zanechali dlhodobú odozvu v mysliach nás – Bratislavčanov. Vytvorili sme si špeciálny vzťah k nádhernému športu, spojeného s hĺbkou umeleckého zážitku a estetického cítenia.

Dear guests and fans of fi gure skating,

The main magnet of the traditional event, which is organized by Slovak gureskating association together with the capital city, are gureskating personalities from around the world, that we are already looking forward to see.I am glad that the competitors that have once participated, entered again. I am very happy that those competitors in their interviews mentioned how much they liked our city and the kindness of Bratislava inhabitants.Bratislava and one of the most beautiful sporting disciplines- gureskating – without a doubt belong together. The achievements of the native sportsman Ondrej Nepela left plenty of long lasting memories in our minds. We have built a special bond with the beautiful sport connected with the depth of aesthetic feeling and experience. Therefore, I am glad, that Slovakia has not forgotten its most successful gureskater and that in his honor the Slovak gureskating association annually organizes, today an important international competition, the Ondrej Nepela Trophy. The city of Bratislava memoralized Ondrej Nepela by naming the city stadium - Zimny stadion Ondreja Nepelu/ The Ondrej Nepela Stadium during the third annual Ondrej Nepela memorial in 1995. I hope, that the newly rebuilt stadium will provide the 21st Ondrej Nepela Trophy gureskaters with exceptional conditions and that us spectators will be able to fully enjoy this beautiful and attractive sport, which gureskating is. I wish you all beautiful time watching the Ondrej Nepela Trophy 2013.

Milan Ftáčnik, mayor of Bratislava, Slovakia capital

List of Winners 1993 – 2013

Ondrej Nepela (January 22, 1951 in Bratislava, Slovakia – February 2, 1989 in Mannheim, Germany) was an Olympic gold medalist and three-time World champion Slovak gure skater who competed for Czechoslovakia in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

CareerNepela began skating at age 7. He was coached by Hilda Múdra. His rst major international competition, at age 13, was the 1964 Winter Olympics; he nished 22nd. He went on to win ve the European Figure Skating Championships ve times between 1969 to 1973; the World Figure Skating Championships in 1971, 1972, and 1973; and the 1972 Winter Olympics. Nepela wanted to retire from competition after the 1972 season, but agreed to continue one more year because the 1973 World Figure Skating Championships were to be held in his home town of Bratislava. In his second autobiography, Toller Cranston details a sexual tryst between himself and Nepela at 1973 World Championships.[1] Cranston was distracted and a ected by their sexual a air and placed 5th while Nepela won the event and even earned a 6.0 during his free skate.

Following his amateur skating career, Nepela toured for 13 years as a soloist with Holiday on Ice. He then established himself as a coach in Germany. He coached Claudia Leistner to her European title in 1989.Nepela died of AIDS-related complications in 1989, at the age of 38. Since 1993, the Slovak Figure Skating Association has held a competition each fall called the Ondrej Nepela Memorial. In December 2000, the Slovak Republic named him Slovakian athlete of the century. His former coach, Mudra, received the award on his behalf.

Modernizovaná vlajková loď značky Opel upú-ta ešte atraktívnejším dizajnom interiéru a exteriéru, ktorým posúva ocenenú lozo u dizajnu značky “sochárske umenie v spojení s ne-meckou presnosťou” na novú úroveň. Pod kapotou dopĺňajú široké portfólio pohonných jednotiek nové výkonné a ultra účinné motory s priamym vstrekovaním paliva ako dva turbodúchadlom prepĺňané benzínové motory a nový turbodie-

sel s emisiou CO2 iba 99 g/km. Táto nízka úroveň emisií posúva nový turbodiesel s objemom 2,0 litra do nemeckej triedy účinnosti A+. V štvordverovej a päťdverovej karosérii so 6-stupňovou manuálnou prevodovkou a systémom Štart/Stop obidve verzie motora 2.0 CDTI s výkonmi 88 kW (120 k) a 103 kW (140 k) spotrebujú iba 3,7 litra naf-ty na 100 km v kombinovanom cykle (podľa metodiky ES 715/2007), kombi Sports Tourer má spotrebu 3,9 l/100 km. Atletický univerzálny automobil so zväčšenou svetlou výškou posky-tuje svojmu majiteľovi slobodu nad rámec mestských ulíc a asfalto-vaných ciest. Vizuálnymi rozlišujúcimi prvkami sú ochranné štíty pod predným a zadným nárazníkom kombinované s nápadnými plastový-mi lemami blatníkov a ochrannými obkladmi spodnej časti karosérie, doplnenými dvoma výraznými koncovkami výfuku. Najmodernejší systém pohonu všetkých kolies zabezpečuje optimálnu trakciu a suverénnu ovládateľnosť za všetkých jazdných podmienok. Ponuka výkonných, turbodúchadlom prepĺňaných motorov obsahuje špičkové pohonné agregáty ako benzínový štvorvalec 2.0 SIDI turbo s priamym vstrekovaním paliva a výkonom 184 kW (250 k) alebo vysoko výkonný naftový štvorvalec 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI – obidva s pôsobivým maximál-nym krútiacim momentom 400 Nm vďaka funkcii overboost.

Region Welcome to Bratislava. Ours is an old city, but one of Europe’s newest capitals. As we hope you will see, it is big enough to have everything a visitor might want, but small enough to remain welcoming and unpretentious.Bratislava became a capital city when Slovakia became independent, in 1993. It has rapidly acquired the top-class hotels, restaurants and tourist facilities that re ect its status. But the town’s history goes back centuries, to pre-Roman times. Successive waves of development as a major trading centre and, for almost 300 years, as the coronation city for the kings and queens of Hungary have blessed us with a fascinating blend of architecture and public spaces. The intimate old town, overlooked by the castle, is criss-crossed with narrow, tra c-free lanes and studded with mediaeval churches, Baroque palaces, small shops and ne cafes, bars and restaurants. At its centre is the beautiful Old Town Square. Nearby, the unique New Bridge, built in the 1970s with its distinctive ‘UFO’ tower, spans the Danube River. On the right bank is central Europe’s oldest public park, Sad Janka Krala, and next to it one of Bratislava’s several modern shopping centres, Aupark. The city has a strong artistic tradition, with regular concert and opera performances at the Slovak National Theatre, and several outstanding galleries.Beyond the

centre, Bratislava’s superb position on the banks of the Danube and below the forested slopes of the Small Carpathian hills means a walk in the woods or a bicycle ride along the river are never more than a few minutes away. Only slightly further a eld are the wine towns of the Small Carpathians. But any restaurant in the city will o er a range of local products, the fruit of our region’s centuries-old winemaking tradition. Bratislava is a safe, reasonably-priced destination that more and more visitors are now discovering. We look forward to welcoming you too.Enjoy your stay!Venue A fully air-conditioned and heated ice rink of the size of 60 m by 30m – the new Ondrej Nepelala Arena – o ers a comfortable auditorium with 10,000 seats and convenient social and sanitary facilities, including the equipment for the disabled who can easily enter the auditorium on wheel-chairs. Visitors can be served in 2 restaurant (WIFI cable) and 4 cafeterias. 15 skyboxes have .This complex have got 2 practice ice rinks hall B 28 x 58 and hall A 26 x 56m. This copmplew was opening 10th of April 2011. Temperature in center ice rink: air +15°C, ice –5°C.

Climate The average outside temperature during the period concerned is +20° Celsius at day and +8° Celsius at night.
