Mark Jobe, pastor at New Life Church in

Chicago, Illinois, is the keynote speaker for

our missions conference. Mark spent the first

half of his life in South America and Spain as

his parents were among the first missionaries

in those areas. There he developed a heart for

the nations and became fluent in the Spanish

    language.

Mark has been the pastor at New Life Com-

munity Church since 1986 and has seen his church grow from

just a handful of believers to over two thousand, meeting in eight

different locations. The church supports numerous programs andministries in Chicago. Mark loves helping to change the spiritual

    landscape of the entire city.

Mark is the author of many periodical and magazine arti-

cles and is a frequent speaker. He and his wife Dee have three

children. His passion is to see a genuine spiritual awakening

and he feels privileged to be able to help people find God and

grow in their knowledge of him. Were sure hell ignite your

    passion for missions!

Catching a Childs HeartBy Joe Lightfoot, Pastor of Adult Ministries

Jesus said that the kingdom of God is ideally

suited for the pure and simple hearts of chil-

dren (Mark 10:14). Focusing on the faith of

    children is critical. Christian researcher

George Barna points out that nearly half

of all Americans who accept Jesus

Christ as their savior do so before

reaching the age of 13. The challenge

is to engage children in a positive

way that opens them to the truth

    and love of Jesus.

    We have a wonderful opportu-

nity to do this and we need your

help to catch a childs heart. You can do this by assisting with

the Oakridge Neighborhood Fishing is Fun outreach on Saturday

May 31, 9:00AMnoon. In this first Takin it to the Streets event

we will be taking children from the Oakridge Neighborhood

    fishing at Water Works Park.

This is an ideal way to show the children of Oakridge (60%

of the 890 Section 8 Housing residents here are children) the love

of Jesus through an activity He used to catch people for Godseternal kingdom. You can help kids experience the fun of fishing.

In the process you will have an opportunity to share what Jesus

means to you through both your words and actions. This is what

Takin it to the Streets is all about!

To participate, a fishing license and a church background

check are required. To make all of this happen so you can take

part in this great ministry event, you can check the box on the

Care & Communication Card, sign up at the table in the foyer,

or call Sherri Stufflebeem in the Childrens Ministry Office at

    255.2122.

KZ ChurchYou may think that a little lie wont hurt, or

that a little sin wont really matter, but it does!

It affects everything. Today in Truthopolis we

talked about Eve and the little lie she believed

and the little sin she committed. The choice Adam and Eve madeforever changed our relationship with God. Your choice to sin can

also do great damage to your life. Oh, be careful, little eyes

ears tongue hands mind. Oh, be careful, little hear t,

whom you trust. A sweet song that has such an important warn-

ing to guard ourselves against sins that might seem harmless!

    AWANAOnly 2 weeks remain for

    dates marked.

Shoe Box ReminderWere thinking Operation Christmas Child

all year long! Dont throw out those empty

shoe boxes because youre tired of looking at

them. Bring them to church any time of the

year. (We do prefer sturdy two-piece boxes

from adult-size shoes.) When November rolls around well return

them to you, beautifully wrapped and ready to be filled with giftitems for needy boys and girls around the world.

We Love New Babies! We love to pray for expectant parents and

we love to celebrate the birth of each Federated

baby. If you are expecting a baby, the GEM

(Great Expectations Ministry) ladies are ready

to serve you. Please share your good news and

let us know your due date. You may put a note on your Care and

Communication card or call Mary in the Childrens Ministry at
