From the Helm
Tim Hutchison– Commandant
I hope this article finds each of you safe and well.
2016 is shaping up to be a very busy one for the de-
tachment. We will soon install our new officers for
2016-2017 on April 14th. I hope each of you will
attempt to attend this very important occasion. Sev-
eral new faces will be joining my staff, which I hope
will infuse new ideas into our detachment.
The detachment had a very successful Gun show in March. A big thank
you goes out to all who helped. The next Gun show is in June, so please
try to spare a couple of hours to help. Remember, these Gun shows are
our primary source of revenue.
The Department of Indiana Spring Conference in Jasper was very informa-
tive. I will brief the membership at our next regular meeting. The meeting
in April is an open meeting, since we are installing new officers. We are
planning a nice dinner prior to the start of the meeting. Hope you can find
time to attend.
As I begin my second term as Commandant, I hope to have several events
where we can have some fun. Sometimes we concentrate too much on
how we are going to make money, and forget why we exist in the first
place. Our detachment should be a place where you can come to associ-
ate with fellow Marines, and not worry about being hounded about volun-
teering for fund raisers. I am open to you suggestions regarding some fun
events. Some of my ideas include: Baseball Game at Victory Field, a Texas
hold’em tournament and another reverse raffle.
As always, if you can spare some time to attend the meetings, that would
be great. I promise not to hound you about volunteering. But with that
said, we still you to support our ongoing functions. Come to the meetings
and learn about the exciting things happening at your detachment. We
need you!!!! Semper Fi!!

Subject: SEEKING VETERAN ENTREPRENEURS FOR SHARK TANK, SEASON 8
Dear Veterans,
My name is Caren and I work in the casting department for ABC's "Shark Tank." My job is to find the entrepreneurs that appear on the show, and I personally would really like to see veterans on at least one episode for this season, Season 8. If you or anyone you know is a veteran and an entrepreneur, and would be interested in applying for our show, I would love to talk to you or them! Please feel free to share this information with anyone you know! All interested applicants may either go to our website and apply there, or call/email me directly using this email or 310-244-1336.
Thank you so much for your time and for your service.
Sincerely, --

Received from General Carol Mutter:
Please see the note and link below. The IWM is honored to be selected to place a POW/MIA Chair of Honor in the Grand Lobby or our Museum and we want to invite you to share the dedication experience. The ceremony will be held in conjunction with the departure ceremony of Rolling Thunder motorcycles departing for Washington DC for the national POW/MIA event. This is an important addition to our Museum, to the remembrance of those who suffered captivity, and the families that are still living everyday not knowing the accountability of their loved ones. We believe placing the Chair in our lobby will assist in spreading the word because last year 481,000 patrons visited the Museum. Respectfully request you save the date on your calendar, send this note to anyone you feel may be interested, and join us as we continue to tell this most important story. Thank you.
