We were very encouraged by the initial responses to the Vision pledge during Quarter 1. However, in Quarter 2 to date, we have seen a significant drop in the number of pledges being fulfilled and we are now likely to fall short of our 42k target. If you have not yet redeemed your pledge and need help to do this, or if you wish to start giving regularly to the work at St George’s, then please contact Dave Sankey or Janet Gibson.

We are looking for someone to take on the role of coordinator for our long term mission partners. Robin Carmichael is stepping down - please see the upcoming St George’s Life for Robin’s reflections on this role. More details from Stuart Roberts.

What’s the vision? What’s the big idea?

The vision is to see the Olympic Torch Relay used as a catalyst by hundreds of churches to mobilise united and creative prayer for their communities and the nations. More Than Gold have arranged for a relay of prayer to run alongside the Olympic torch.

At midday on Sunday 24 June, St George’s Church will be receiving the ‘prayer baton’ from the churches of Manchester. We’re excited to invite you to join us in the early afternoon to eat and pray with churches from across the city. Bring a picnic lunch. Materials will be provided for you to design a banner to represent your church.

As we stand together in unity we will be led in corporate prayer and worship by a diverse group of church leaders. This is going to be a great event and a fantastic opportunity to see God move as the whole world watches this country during the games.

Hope to see you there...
