When Jesus had finished all these sayings, He said to His disciples, “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.” Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill Him.

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and

He said to His disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and

pray.” And taking with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee,

He began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then He said to

them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here,

and watch with me.”

祂就稍往前走，俯伏在地，禱告說：「我父啊！倘

若可行，求祢叫這杯離開我！然而，不要照我的

意思，只要照祢的意思。」來到門徒那裡，見他

們睡著了，就對彼得說：「怎麼樣，你們不能同我

警醒片時嗎？總要警醒禱告，免得入了迷惑。你

們心靈固然願意，肉體卻軟弱了。」第二次又去

禱告說：「我父啊！這杯若不能離開我，必要我

喝，就願祢的意旨成全！」又來，見他們睡著了，

And going a little farther He fell on His face and prayed,

to the disciples and found them sleeping. And He said to

Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch

and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit

indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, for the second

time, He went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot

pass unless I drink it, Your will be done.” And again He came

and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. So,

leaving them again, He went away and prayed for the third

time, saying the same words again. Then He came to the

disciples and said to them, “Sleep and take your rest later on.

See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into

長老已經在那裡聚會。祭司長和全公會尋找假見證

控告耶穌，要治死祂。雖有好些人來作假見證，總

得不著實據。末後，有兩個人前來說：「這個人曾

說：『我能拆毀神的殿，三日內又建造起來。』」大

祭司就站起來，對耶穌說：「你甚麼都不回答嗎？

這些人作見證告你的是甚麼呢？」耶穌卻不言語。

大祭司對祂說：「我指著永生神叫你起誓告訴我

們，你是神的兒子基督不是？」耶穌對他說：「你

Then those who had seized Jesus led Him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had gathered. Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking false testimony against Jesus that they might put Him to death, but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. At last two came forward and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to rebuild it in three days.’” And the high priest stood up and said, “Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?” But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to Him, “I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” Jesus said to him, “You have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Then the high priest tore his robes and said, “He has uttered blasphemy. What further witnesses do we need? You have now heard his blasphemy. What is your judgment?” They answered, “He deserves death.” Then they spit in His face and struck Him. And some slapped Him, saying, “Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who is it that struck you?”

到了早晨，眾祭司長和民間的長老大家商議要治死

耶穌，就把祂捆綁，解去交給巡撫彼拉多。耶穌站

在巡撫面前，巡撫問祂說：「你是猶太人的王嗎？」

耶穌說：「你說的是。」祂被祭司長和長老控告的

時候，甚麼都不回答。彼拉多就對祂說：「他們作

見證告你這麼多的事，你沒有聽見嗎？」耶穌仍不

回答，連一句話也不說，以致巡撫甚覺稀奇。

巡撫有一個常例，每逢這節期，隨眾人所要的釋放

一個囚犯給他們。當時有一個出名的囚犯叫巴拉

巴。眾人聚集的時候，彼拉多就對他們說：「你們

要我釋放哪一個給你們？是巴拉巴呢，是稱為基督

的耶穌呢？」巡撫原知道他們是因為嫉妒才把祂解

了來。正坐堂的時候，他的夫人打發人來說：「這

義人的事你一點不可管，因為我今天在夢中為他受

了許多的苦。」祭司長和長老挑唆眾人，求釋放巴

拉巴，除滅耶穌。巡撫對眾人說：「這兩個人，你

們要我釋放哪一個給你們呢？」他們說：「巴拉

巴！」彼拉多說：「這樣，那稱為基督的耶穌，我

怎麼辦他呢？」他們都說：「把他釘十字架！」巡

撫說：「為甚麼呢？他做了甚麼惡事呢？」他們便

極力地喊著說：「把他釘十字架！」

When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death. And they bound Him and led Him away and delivered Him over to Pilate the governor. Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked Him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said, “You have said so.” But when He was accused by the chief priests and elders, He gave no answer. Then Pilate said to Him, “Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?” But He gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed. Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release for the crowd any one prisoner whom they wanted. And they had then a notorious prisoner called Barabbas. So when they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?” For he knew that it was out of envy that they had delivered Him up. Besides, while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered much because of him today in a dream.” Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.” Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified!” And he said, “Why? 巡撫的兵就把耶穌帶進衙門，叫全營的兵都聚集在

祂那裡。他們給祂脫了衣服，穿上一件朱紅色袍

子，用荊棘編做冠冕，戴在祂頭上，拿一根葦子放

在祂右手裡，跪在祂面前，戲弄祂，說：「恭喜，

猶太人的王啊！」又吐唾沫在祂臉上，拿葦子打祂

的頭。戲弄完了，就給祂脫了袍子，仍穿上祂自己

的衣服，帶祂出去，要釘十字架。他們出來的時候，

遇見一個古利奈人，名叫西門，就勉強他同去，好

背著耶穌的十字架。

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the

governor's headquarters, and they gathered the whole

battalion before Him. And they stripped Him and put a

scarlet robe on Him, and twisting together a crown of

thorns, they put it on His head and put a reed in His right

hand. And kneeling before Him, they mocked Him, saying,

“Hail, King of the Jews!” And they spit on Him and took the

reed and struck Him on the head. And when they had

mocked Him, they stripped Him of the robe and put His own

clothes on Him and led Him away to crucify Him. As they

到了一個地方名叫各各他，意思就是「髑髏地」；

兵丁拿苦膽調和的酒給耶穌喝。祂嘗了，就不肯

喝。他們既將祂釘在十字架上，就拈鬮分祂的衣

服，又坐在那裡看守祂。在祂頭以上安一個牌子，

寫著祂的罪狀說：「這是猶太人的王耶穌。」譏誚

主不能救自己。當時，有兩個強盜和祂同釘十字

架，一個在右邊，一個在左邊。從那裡經過的人譏

誚祂，搖著頭說：「你這拆毀聖殿、三日又建造起

來的，可以救自己吧！你如果是神的兒子，就從十

a reed and gave it to Him to drink. But the others said, “Wait, let
