Surah al-Mujaadila (The Pleading Woman)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful


ف�ي *ج)اد�ل*ك) ت �ي �ت ال ق)و!ل) �ه* الل م�ع) س) ق)د!�ه* و)الل �ه� الل �ل)ى إ )ك�ي ت )ش! و)ت و!ج�ه)ا ز)

)ص�ير< ب م�يع< س) �ه) الل �ن� إ *م)ا ك )ح)او*ر) ت م)ع* )س! ي

[58:1] Allah indeed knows the plea of her who pleads with you about her husband and complains to Allah,

and Allah knows the contentions of both of you; surely Allah is Hearing, Seeing.


ه*ن� م�ا �ه�م ائ Hس) ن مHن *م م�نك ون) *ظ)اه�ر* ي �ذ�ين) ال)ه*م! )د!ن و)ل �ي ئ الال� �ال� إ *ه*م! م�ه)ات

[58:2] (As for) those of you who put away their wives by likening their backs to the backs of their mothers, they are not

their mothers; their mothers are no others than those who gave them birth; and most surely they utter a hateful word and

a falsehood and most surely Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving.


*م� ث �ه�م! ائ Hس) ن م�ن ون) *ظ)اه�ر* ي �ذ�ين) و)المHن Wة( ق)ب ر) )ح!ر�ير* ف)ت *وا ق)ال �م)ا ل )ع*ود*ون) ي�ه� ب *وع)ظ*ون) ت *م! �ك ذ)ل ا )م)اس� )ت ي )ن أ !ل� ق)ب

�ير< ب خ) )ع!م)ل*ون) ت �م)ا ب �ه* و)الل

[58:3] And (as for) those who put away their wives by likening their backs to the backs of their mothers then would recall what they said, they should free a captive

before they touch each other; to that you are admonished (to conform); and Allah is Aware of what

you do.


!ن� �ع)ي )اب )ت م*ت !ن� ي ه!ر) ش) )ام* ف)ص�ي )ج�د! ي �م! ل ف)م)ن)ط�ع! ت )س! ي �م! ل ف)م)ن ا )م)اس� )ت ي )ن أ !ل� ق)ب م�ن*وا *ؤ!م�ن �ت ل �ك) ذ)ل Pا �ين ك م�س! Hين) ت س� �ط!ع)ام* ف)إ

�ه� الل ح*د*ود* �ل!ك) و)ت �ه� ول س* و)ر) �ه� �الل ب�يم< )ل أ ع)ذ)اب< )اف�ر�ين) !ك �ل و)ل

[58:4] But whoever has not the means, let him fast for two months successively before they touch each other; then

as for him who is not able, let him feed sixty needy ones; that is in order that you may have faith in Allah and His

Messenger, and these are Allah's limits, and the unbelievers shall have a painful punishment.


*وا �ت *ب ك )ه* ول س* و)ر) �ه) الل *ح)ادeون) ي �ذ�ين) ال �ن� إ)ا !ن ل )نز) أ و)ق)د! �ه�م! !ل ق)ب م�ن �ذ�ين) ال �ت) *ب ك )م)ا ك

مeه�ين< ع)ذ)اب< )اف�ر�ين) !ك �ل و)ل Wات( Hن )ي ب Wات( آي

[58:5] Surely those who act in opposition to Allah and His Messenger shall be laid down prostrate as those before them were laid down prostrate; and indeed We have revealed clear communications, and the unbelievers shall have an abasing chastisement.


�م)ا ب *ه*م Hئ )ب *ن ف)ي ج)م�يعPا �ه* الل *ه*م* !ع)ث )ب ي )و!م) ي�ه* و)الل وه* )س* و)ن �ه* الل )ح!ص)اه* أ *وا ع)م�ل

ه�يد< ش) Wي!ء ش) Hل* ك ع)ل)ى

[58:6] On the day when Allah will raise them up all together, then inform them of what they did:

Allah has recorded it while they have forgotten it; and Allah is a witness of all things.


و)م)ا م)او)ات� الس� ف�ي م)ا )م* )ع!ل ي �ه) الل )ن� أ )ر) ت )م! )ل أه*و) �ال� إ Wة( ث )ال) ث �ج!و)ى ن م�ن *ون* )ك ي م)ا ر!ض�

( األ! ف�يو)ال) ه*م! اد�س* س) ه*و) �ال� إ Wة خ)م!س) و)ال) �ع*ه*م! اب ر)

م)ا !ن) )ي أ م)ع)ه*م! ه*و) �ال� إ )ر) !ث ك( أ و)ال) �ك) ذ)ل م�ن )ى )د!ن أ

�ن� إ )ام)ة� !ق�ي ال )و!م) ي *وا ع)م�ل �م)ا ب *ه*م Hئ )ب *ن ي *م� ث *وا )ان ك�يم< ع)ل Wي!ء ش) Hل* �ك ب �ه) الل

[58:7] Do you not see that Allah knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth? Nowhere is there a secret counsel

between three persons but He is the fourth of them, nor (between) five but He is the sixth of them, nor less than that nor more but He

is with them wheresoever they are; then He will inform them of what they did on the day of resurrection: surely Allah is Cognizant

of all things.

ج)اؤ*وك) �ذ)ا و)إ س*ول� الر� )ت� و)م)ع!ص�ي !ع*د!و)ان� و)الف�ي *ون) )ق*ول و)ي �ه* الل �ه� ب Hك) ي *ح) ي )م! ل �م)ا ب �و!ك) ي ح)

*ه*م! ب ح)س! )ق*ول* ن �م)ا ب �ه* الل )ا *ن *ع)ذHب ي )و!ال) ل ه�م! )نف*س� أ!م)ص�ير* ال !س) �ئ ف)ب )ه)ا )و!ن )ص!ل ي �م* ج)ه)ن

[58:8] Have you not seen those who are forbidden secret counsels, then they return to what they are forbidden, and they hold secret counsels for sin and revolt and disobedience to the Messenger, and when they come to you they greet you with a greeting with

which Allah does not greet you, and they say in themselves: Why does not Allah punish us for what we say? Hell is enough for

them; they shall enter it, and evil is the resort.

ون) ر* *ح!ش) ت !ه� )ي �ل إ

[58:9] O you who believe! when you confer together in private, do not give to each other counsel of sin and revolt and

disobedience to the Messenger, and give to each other counsel of goodness and guarding (against evil); and be careful of

(your duty to) Allah, to Whom you shall be gathered together.

�ل� )و)ك )ت !ي ف)ل �ه� الل و)ع)ل)ى �ه� الل �ذ!ن� �إ ب*ون) !م*ؤ!م�ن ال

[58:10] Secret counsels are only (the work) of the Shaitan that he may cause to grieve those who

believe, and he cannot hurt them in the least except with Allah's permission, and on Allah let the

believers rely.


ح*وا )ف)س� ت *م! )ك ل ق�يل) �ذ)ا إ *وا آم)ن �ذ�ين) ال eه)ا ي( أ )ا ي

�ه* الل ح� )ف!س) ي ح*وا ف)اف!س) !م)ج)ال�س� ال ف�يف)ع� )ر! ي وا ز* ف)انش* وا ز* انش* ق�يل) �ذ)ا و)إ *م! )ك ل*وا *وت أ �ذ�ين) و)ال *م! م�نك *وا آم)ن �ذ�ين) ال �ه* الل

�ير< ب خ) )ع!م)ل*ون) ت �م)ا ب �ه* و)الل Wج)ات د)ر) !م) !ع�ل ال

[58:11] O you who believe! when it is said to you, Make room in (your) assemblies, then make ample room, Allah

will give you ample, and when it is said: Rise up, then rise up. Allah will exalt those of you who believe, and those who are given knowledge, in high degrees; and

Allah is Aware of what you do.

Pص)د)ق)ة *م! )ج!و)اك ن )د)ي! ي !ن) )ي ب ف)ق)دHم*وا)ج�د*وا ت �م! ل �ن ف)إ ط!ه)ر*

( و)أ *م! �ك ل !ر< ي خ) �ك) ذ)لح�يم< ر� غ)ف*ور< �ه) الل �ن� ف)إ

[58:12] O you who believe! when you consult the Messenger, then offer something in charity before your consultation; that is better for you and purer;

but if you do not find, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.


*م! )ج!و)اك ن )د)ي! ي !ن) )ي ب *ق)دHم*وا ت )ن أ *م! ف)ق!ت )ش! )أ أ�ه* الل )اب) و)ت *وا )ف!ع)ل ت )م! ل �ذ! ف)إ Wص)د)ق)ات

)اة) ك الز� *وا و)آت ة) الص�ال) )ق�يم*وا ف)أ *م! !ك )ي ع)ل�م)ا ب �ير< ب خ) �ه* و)الل )ه* ول س* و)ر) �ه) الل )ط�يع*وا و)أ

)ع!م)ل*ون) ت

[58:13] Do you fear that you will not (be able to) give in charity before your consultation? So when you do not do it and Allah has turned to you (mercifully), then keep up

prayer and pay the poor-rate and obey Allah and His Messenger; and Allah is Aware of what you do.


غ)ض�ب) ق)و!مPا �و!ا )و)ل ت �ذ�ين) ال �ل)ى إ )ر) ت )م! )ل أ!ه*م! م�ن و)ال) *م! مHنك ه*م م�ا !ه�م )ي ع)ل �ه* الل

)م*ون) )ع!ل ي و)ه*م! )ذ�ب� !ك ال ع)ل)ى �ف*ون) ل )ح! و)ي

[58:14] Have you not seen those who befriend a people with whom Allah is wroth? They are neither

of you nor of them, and they swear falsely while they know.


اء س) �ه*م! �ن إ د�يدPا ش) Pا ع)ذ)اب )ه*م! ل �ه* الل )ع)د� أ*ون) )ع!م)ل ي *وا )ان ك م)ا

[58:15] Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment; surely what they do is evil.


ع)ن ف)ص)دeوا Pة� ن ج* )ه*م! !م)ان ي( أ �خ)ذ*وا ات

مeه�ين< ع)ذ)اب< )ه*م! ف)ل �ه� الل �يل� ب س)

[58:16] They make their oaths to serve as a cover so they turn away from Allah's way; therefore

they shall have an abasing chastisement.


د*ه*م و!ال)( أ و)ال) *ه*م! م!و)ال

( أ !ه*م! ع)ن �ي) *غ!ن ت )ن ل�ار� الن ص!ح)اب*

( أ �ك) )ئ و!ل* أ Pا !ئ ي ش) �ه� الل مHن)

�د*ون) ال خ) ف�يه)ا ه*م!

[58:17] Neither their wealth nor their children shall avail them aught against Allah; they are the inmates of the fire, therein they shall abide.


)ه* ل �ف*ون) ل )ح! ف)ي ج)م�يعPا �ه* الل *ه*م* !ع)ث )ب ي )و!م) ي�ه*م! ن

( أ *ون) ب )ح!س) و)ي *م! )ك ل �ف*ون) ل )ح! ي )م)ا ك*ون) )اذ�ب !ك ال ه*م* �ه*م! �ن إ )ال) أ Wي!ء ش) ع)ل)ى

[58:18] On the day that Allah will raise them up all, then they will swear to Him as they swear to you,

and they think that they have something; now surely they are the liars.


اه*م! )نس) ف)أ !ط)ان* ي الش� !ه�م* )ي ع)ل )ح!و)ذ) ت اس!)ال) أ !ط)ان� ي الش� ب* ح�ز! �ك) )ئ و!ل

* أ �ه� الل !ر) ذ�كون) ر* !خ)اس� ال ه*م* !ط)ان� ي الش� ب) ح�ز! �ن� إ

[58:19] The Shaitan has gained the mastery over them, so he has made them forget the

remembrance of Allah; they are the Shaitan's party; now surely the Shaitan's party are the

losers.


)ه* ول س* و)ر) �ه) الل *ح)ادeون) ي �ذ�ين) ال �ن� إHين) )ذ)ل األ ف�ي �ك) )ئ و!ل

[58:20] Surely (as for) those who are in opposition to Allah and His Messenger; they shall be among

the most abased.


�ه) الل �ن� إ ل�ي س* و)ر* )ا )ن أ )ن� �ب )غ!ل أل) �ه* الل )ب) )ت كع)ز�يز< Tق)و�ي

[58:21] Allah has written down: I will most certainly prevail, I and My messengers; surely

Allah is Strong, Mighty.

*ه*م! ل *د!خ� و)ي !ه* مHن Wوح �ر* ب �د)ه*م )ي و)أ �يم)ان) اإل! �ه�م* *وب ق*ل ف�يف�يه)ا �د�ين) خ)ال !ه)ار* ن

( األ! �ه)ا ت )ح! ت م�ن )ج!ر�ي ت Wات� ن ج)�ه� الل ب* ح�ز! �ك) )ئ و!ل

* أ !ه* ع)ن ض*وا و)ر) !ه*م! ع)ن �ه* الل ض�ي) ر)�ح*ون) !م*ف!ل ال ه*م* �ه� الل ب) ح�ز! �ن� إ )ال) أ

[58:22] You shall not find a people who believe in Allah and the latter day befriending those who act in opposition to Allah and His Messenger, even

though they were their (own) fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kinsfolk; these are they into whose hearts He has impressed faith, and whom He has strengthened with an inspiration from Him: and He will cause them to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein; Allah is well-pleased

with them and they are well-pleased with Him these are Allah's party: now surely the party of Allah are the successful ones.
