The cabinet secretary would shortly meet industry representatives and top government officials including Commerce Secretary Rajeev Kher and Amitabh Kant, secretary to the department of industrial policy and promotion, to discuss steps that can be taken to streamline archaic and arduous official procedures that hamper economic activity. While the Prime Minister’s Office and the cabinet secretariat have held a few meeting in recent months on improving the ease of doing business – according to the World Bank’s parameters, India ranks a lowly 142 on that front – Seth said that it is now time to accelerate the process. “I propose to convene a meeting very shortly, maybe in the next 10-12 days on the ease of doing business and how to make trade simpler. We have had a couple of meetings on the issue in the past, but we need to lend a greater momentum to the process and we will try to accelerate it”, Seth said, while addressing the valedictory session of the Services Conclave in the capital. Seth said that it is a matter of concern that though the services sector accounts for over 60% of India’s GDP, the country only accounts for 3.5% of the global services trade. “This situation has to be remedies quickly”, he said, stressing the need to improve standards and skills across the services sector with an eye on the growing global market as well as domestic opportunities. “We need a culture of standards, whether it is for skills or quality. Why, for instance, should the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) be the only institution eligible to de testing and certification?” said the cabinet secretary. Stressing that the government would co-ordinate more effectively to promote the services sector, Seth said that the sector suffers from lack of ownership among ministries. “Who owns Services (in the government) is like asking who owns the Internet… When there isn’t a specific answer, someone has to step in to co-ordinate so I am talking to the different departments engaged in Disclaimer: การเผยแพอลใน สปาวเนรายปดาตประสงเอเนการใอลแสนใจเาน สากงานงเสมการาฯ กงวเด ประเทศนเย จะไบดชอบอความเยหายใดๆ อาจเดนจากการนาอลไปใ

Medical Tourists Keep Hotels Fit

India’s booming medical tourism has emerged one of themost dependable business segments for premium hotelchains, prompting many hotels to offer special facilities, packages and customized services to woo such customers.Hotel chains such as Hyatt, Hilton, Ramada, Crowne Plaza and The Leela offer facilities and services ranging from longelevator cabins for stretchers, rooms close to elevators andcustomized food and beverages as per their dietary

requirements, as business from medical tourism has been by more than 25% every year at a time when overall slowdown impacted the flow of business and leisure travellers. “Medical tourism is a year-round business and constant, when compared to leisure and corporate travel which are more or less seasonal,” said Nichint Pathania, general manager at Ramada powai Hotel and convention Centre, Mumbai.According to a study by Assocham, medical tourism in India is set to grow into a 120,000 million Rupees industry by 2015 with more than 450,000 people expected to visit the country for treatment due to much lower cost of surgeries than western countries. The segment’s growing business potential has prompted hotel chains to set up properties near prominent specialty hospitals. Ramada Powai, for example, is located in the vicinity of healthcare chains like Hiranandani, Forties and Seven Hills. Last year Hilton Worldwide opened the 201 room Hilton Garden Inn Gurgaon Baani Square in proximity to specialty hospitals like Medanta Medicity, Artemis and Max Healthcare in Gurgaon, with several design features to support medical tourists. “For our specialized guests we have ramps at the entrance, customized long elevator cabin to wheel in a stretcher, and tow accessible rooms on the lowest residential floor, each with an interconnecting room for the patient’s attendant to occupy,” said Parmeet Singh Nayar, officiating general manager of Hilton Garden Inn. Some top hotels such as Hyatt Regency, Chennai, have tie-ups with specialty hospitals and offer contracted rates for tourists visiting for medical treatments.“Minute details like room allocation close to elevators, special provisions in the rooms and a host of recreation avenues are available on the premises to help our guests feel at home,” said Shubham Chandra, Hyatt Hotels’ area director of sales and marketing for Chennai, Hampi, Kathmandu, Kolkata and Bangalore. The Leela Palace, Chennai, and Crowne Plaza, New Delhi, are among hotels offering customized packages tosuit the health and preferences of medical tourists. “We have special offerings for food & beverage that are taken care by our team of seasoned chefs to suit their dietary requirements,”
