雙元音 ( 雙母音 )

[aN] [au][eN][ou][CN][ju]

何謂雙母音主要以圖 4.2為依據比較出 America &

BBC發音上音質上的差別及其他地區 (Thames Estuary…)

Diphthongs 雙元音母音+滑音都含有一個母音的音以滑音作結尾第ㄧ個部份的母音較明顯 (會在較不顯著的母音下標示其方法有兩種 :[aN][aN] )

根據圖 4.2 [aN] [au] high how BBC 口音比較接近 [H]

[W] bad [H] bud [A] father The Oxford Dictionary of Pronunciation

for Current English transcribes the American [aN] as [HN]

Make the long [A] and say the word eye

[aN] high buy

英語發音通常發前面的元音， (mid-front vowel) buy→buy [ba:] die[da:]

[au] how

how 的開頭音和 high 很相似 Owl 的開頭與 [W]---had [D-H-u]→ how now brown cow

[eN] hay

American English starting with a vowel[D]---head

Midwest American[N]---hidEstuary English(larger diphthong)

---mateOthers---higher vowel[e]

[OU] hoe

和 [eN] 形成的方式相似 American---high-low British---front-back

[ju] cue 不同於其他雙元音，明顯的音發生在末端 只有一個母音在其中 常把它視為子音 + 母音 為何把它視為雙元音 ? Ex: [pje][kje]
