How to make your blog

Necessary elements

 Clean design

  Photos

  Personal voice

  Links and navigation add value

  **Potent posts**

1. Create a clean template.

Choose five colors for your design and text.

Avoid graphics and textures that will clash with photos.

Use no more than 3 fonts that are easy to read.

Condense your menu bar and navigation.

Consider the value of clutter before adding it.

2. Use photos in 99% of your posts.

People have a short attention span online.

Images catch the eye away from competing content.

Decision is made based on the first image.

Personal snapshots are the most compelling.

3. Make your blog valuable

Provide the details (who, what, where when, why)

Use hyperlinks (homepage, twitter handle, blog)

Offer your perspective that is unique to you.

Think of your blog as a resource.

Categorize and/or tag for easy navigation and search.

Rule 1: You can’t mess up!

Blog like you talk to people.

  Be yourself

  Post what excites you

  Have an opinion

  Attempt to make friends

  Inform people about your life

  Interact with your audience

Best hairspray EVER!

Seriously – Oribe ($22 @ Barneys) even keeps my hair straight in this humidity. I highly recommend spending the money ladies. And men. Ha!

4. Your Goal “Potent” Posts

Convey the most amount of information with the least amount of words. Choose 2 of the 4 concepts to include in one post.

  A sexy statement

  Circumstance

  The nugget

  Character

Go back and add value to your posts when you’re done.

A “Potent” Post

Sexy Statement: You definitely want to take this “Ho” home.

Circumstance: In this pic, I’m spicing up a Hoegaarden.  Which I pronounce “Ho-garden” knowing full well, it’s “Who-garden” – but that’s what I say.

Nugget: For me, I like it with Peach Lambech and a fresh orange slice.  The orange is nothing new to you, but the Lambech brew makes the beer even smoother.

Character: More to come of this nature.  Mary tells me I need to share all of my secrets. I’m game.  I’ll try anything once.

Sexy statement: Smiles that big can only mean one thing.

Circumstance: Christy and Letha came to Amy’s Gold Buying Party and are walking away with checks for over $500 each.

Nugget: With the price of gold rising every day, the checks I sign are getting bigger and bigger.

Character: Honestly, I love my job. Everyone leaves happy. For details on hosting and making money to party, click here.
