How to QuitProcrastinating
At one point or another, we'veall been guilty of procrastination.Whether it be a large project, getting ready for an event, oreven small projects we don'twant to tackle, it's important toknow some tips and tricks toavoid this behavior as much as
possible.
1. Be HonestEveryone has struggled withprocrastination at one point oranother, so there's no shame inadmitting that this is a problem for
you. Have there been times when youweren't as prepared as you shouldhave been or missed deadlines onimportant projects? Be honest withyourself and compile a list of
examples when procrastinating hashurt you in the past.
2. Break the Project Up
If you're struggling with tackling a large project because itjust seems overwhelming, try breaking it up into smallerpieces. Focus on one thing at a time to make it more
manageable.
One added bonus for doing projects this way is that youwill feel more and more motivated the further you get to
completing the project.
3. Don'tOverthink It
When you have a large project orseries of small projects, planning canbe entirely helpful. Planning can startto hurt your productivity though ifyou focus too much energy and puttoo much time into planning. Insteadof overthinking at all the tasks at hand, dive into your work and just startworking on anything. The more youget down, the less work will pile up.
4. Avoid the Time-wastersWhen you sit down and start working on a
project, do you tend to focus just at the work athand or do you also turn on the television or opena social media site? Chances are, you don't just doyour work, you have a distraction or multiple
distractions. Limit the amount of distractions yougive yourself or just avoid them entirely. A goodoption is turning on some music instead that may
actually help you be more productive.
Closing Thoughts...While procrastination may be a hurdle you haveto get over, the good news is it's entirelypossible. Making an effort to combat this
behavior can make you more efficient in thelongterm and make you stress less about
getting your work done.
