So and Mi PatternsC, F, G major – 4/4 time signature – quarter notes and eighth note pairs• Note: Print two copies – one blank, one with “So” and “Mi” written on each note - laminate• Preparation: Review “time signature” – review the rhythm “ta-ta-ta-ta” – review “double bar line” – review “measure” –

review “staff” – also select a student to hold the cards (so you can play piano – or you can try to do both) – decide which key the students will sing in today and use the corresponding cards (F, G, or C majors)

• Rhythm Level: Students chant the rhythm on syllables of your choice. I also have my students clap the rhythm.• Level 1 (blank): Students sing the patterns on “high” and “low” while touching shoulders for “high” and tummy for

“low” (teacher accompanies on piano)• Level 2 (written on): Students sing the patterns on “so” and “mi” while touching shoulders for “so” and tummy for “mi”

(teacher accompanies on piano)• Level 3 (blank): Students sing the patterns on “so” and “mi” while touching shoulders for “so” and tummy for “mi”
