Aurangabad: The trial in fe-male foeticide cases of 2012 inBeed district took a new turnwhen a court here slappedmurder charges on Tuesdayagainst 16 people, includingfive doctors involved in the ca-ses. They were earlier charg-ed with culpable homicide.

rs, the accused include emplo-yees of Beed’s Sanap Hospit-al, the women carrying the fe-male foetuses and their malerelatives.

On June 2, 2012, two fem-ale foetuses were found aban-doned on the banks of Bin-

dusara river on the outskirtsof Beed while another female

foetus was recovered from avillage in Beed district wherethe relatives had allegedly bu-ried it.

Shivaji Sanap, the doctorarrested on June 2, 2012, foraborting the foetues, is in jud-icial custody while the othersare out on bail, the governme-nt pleader said. The hospitalis owned by Sanap’s father-in-law Shrihari Lahane, a seni-

New Delhi: The SupremeCourt on Wednesday slam-med the Mumbai police forrestraining three Uganda ci-tizens, one of them a parlia-mentarian, from leaving In-dia and directed that theirpassports, allegedly seizedon a complaint filed on beha-lf of a corporate group, bereleased immediat ely.

Stating that such actionsby police give the country abad name, the SC directedthat the trio be allowed to le-ave. “The Mumbai police,instead of protecting the Ug-anda nationals, have filed an
