C3: Calculate the antiderivative (or integral) of a

    polynomial or basic trig function.

What does the prefix anti- mean?

C3: Calculate the antiderivative (or integral) of a

    polynomial or basic trig function.

Anti- means before. So if you are finding the

antiderivative, you are finding what it looked like

    before you found the derivative.

    You are going BACKWARDS!

Instead of lowering the power, you raise it.

    Instead of multiplying, you divide.

C3: Calculate the antiderivative (or integral) of a

    polynomial or basic trig function.

    What about with trig functions?

If the derivative of sine is cosine, then the

antiderivative of cosine must be sine!If the derivative of cosine is negative sine, then

the antiderivative of sine must be negative

    cosine.

    Write this in mathematical notation
