    IELTS EXAMINER COMMENTS

You covered all the requirements of the task, and all the information that you reported was accurate.

You selected information effectively, Bach and your report was clear throughout. I noted that you made

relevant comparisons between the figures and the trends. There is a lot of information in the chart – it is

quite deceptive, because at first it appears that we would be able to report almost everything, but this is not

    the case.

So, I found that your detail paragraphs were organised logically, enabling trends and differences to be

    compared.

My combined score for task achievement and coherence/cohesion is 9.

Some repetition is unavoidable in the language used, such as access/Internet users, and this is quite

legitimate in order to present a clear and accurate report. Of course, it is great to use language such as By

contrast/However/On the other hand..... because these are very effective words when we want to draw

contrasts. You varied your use of percentage/rate/proportion and I noted your good expression ‘by far the

most common...’ I scored 9 again for lexical resource.

Your grammar was faultless, Bach, and I noted how you varied your sentence structures. For example, in

paragraph 3, you began one sentence with the percentage: Approximately 27% of users connected to.....

The examiner should also notice your correct use of subordinate [adverb and relative clauses] and

superlatives. I have to score 9 for grammar.

My overall score is 9, a good band 9 model answer.
