The 84th Annual El Desfi le De Los Niños (Children’s Parade) will take place on Saturday, August 2nd at 10am. Young people of Santa Barbara, their parents, and other parade participants don traditional costumes and celebrate the rich culture of the area. The parade proceeds down State St, from Victoria St to Ortega St.

El 84a El Desfi le De Los Niños Anual se llevará a cabo el sábado 2 de agosto a las 10 am. Los jóvenes de Santa Bárbara, sus padres y otros participantes del desfi le se pondrán sus disfraces tradicionales y celebrarán la cultura rica de la zona. The tall ship Pilgrim will return to Santa Barbara to celebrate Old Spanish Days. It will be at the city dock across from the Maritime Museum and open to the public (free) Saturday, August 2nd from 10am until 6pm, and on Sunday, August 3rd from 10am until 5pm. Pilgrim played a historic part in putting Santa Barbara on the national map when a Fiesta was described in Richard Henry Dana’s novel Two Years Before the Mast 1834-1836.

La fragata El Peregrino regresará a Santa Bárbara para celebrar Old Spanish Days. Estará en el muelle de la ciudad frente al Museo Marítimo y abierto al público (gratis) el sábado, 2 de agosto de 10am hasta las 6pm, y el domingo 3 de agosto desde las 10am hasta las 5pm. El Peregrino tuvo un papel histórico y ayudo a poner a Santa Bárbara en el mapa nacional cuando una Fiesta fue descrita en la novela de Richard Henry Dana, Two Years Before the Mast 1834-1836 (Dos años antes del mástil 1834-1836).

Over the past 25 years, the Santa Barbara Association of Realtors (SBAOR) has been one of the largest supporters of the Unity

Shoppe. Money is raised by holding both a silent and live Auction in December each year which is supported by REALTORS and affi liates in the industry with the goal of ensuring that every senior, family and

child referred will have a wonderful Holiday Season shopping for their food and clothing at the Unity Shoppe.

Q: What is the Unity Shoppe?A: The Unity Shoppe is the largest, single direct distributor of food and

clothing in Santa Barbara County. Besides the “free store” where families shop, Unity has a Senior Resource Center where special needs orders are prepared for those in care facilities; a Job Smart Program offering

free work clothing, on-the-job training, resume and interview skills; Long-Term Disaster Services for those affected by fl ood or fi re; and Santa’s Toy Shoppe offering low-income parents an opportunity to select toys for their own children. Unity teaches 1,700 youth volunteers annually to operate

the programs, so they learn valuable job skills for future employment while helping their low-income neighbors and their community.

Q: Who does Unity serve?A: Almost 22,000 people including families, children, and seniors are referred to the Unity Shoppe from over 300 other agencies, churches

and schools throughout Santa Barbara County. Q: How is Unity’s food program different from other food programs?
