HistoryHistoryThe first education board to be set up in India was the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education in 1921, which was under jurisdiction of Rajputana, Central India and Gwalior. In 1929, the government of India set up a joint Board named "Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana". This included Ajmer, Merwara, Central India and Gwalior. Later it was confined to Ajmer, Bhopal and Vindhya Pradesh. In 1952, it became the "Central Board of Secondary Education".

CBSE affiliates all Kendriya Vidyalayas, all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, private schools and most of

the schools approved by Central government of India.

Examinations

All India Senior School Certificate Examination(AISSCE)

All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE)

All India Pre Medical Test(AIPMT)

AISSCEAISSCE stands for All India Senior School Certificate Examination. The AISSCE (All India Senior School Certificate Examination) is an

examination conducted by the CBSE for class 12.

Where as the board conducts two examinations – All India Secondary School Examination (Class X) and the All India Senior School Certificate

Examination (Class XII).

AIEEEThe All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), was an examination

organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. Introduced in the year 2002, this national level competitive test is for admission

to various under-graduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the AIEEE score, mainly 30 National Institutes of Technology (NITs)

and 5 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs).[1] The examination was generally held on the last Sunday of April and results are announced in the last

week of May or the first week of June. Candidates are ranked on an all-India basis and state basis. Thus, they have an All India Rank (AIR) and a State Rank (SR).

The examination was replaced by Joint Entrance Examination in April 2013.

AIPMTThe All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) is a yearly college entrance examination in India. The exam is conducted by the Central Board of

Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in several medical colleges around the country. Presently, 15% of the total seats in all medical and dental colleges run by

the Union of India, state governments, municipal, or other local authorities in India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir,

are reserved for candidates who pass this examination. Since 2014, the examination has been modified.
