Journalism

Journalism(新闻业 ) is the profession of writing for newspapers and magazines.

Journalism is the craft(行业 ) of conveying news, descriptive material and comment via a widening spectrum(系列 ) of media. These include newspapers, magazines, radio and television, the internet and even, more recently, the cell phone.

Journalist A journalist(新闻工作者 ) refers to a person who

se profession is journalism. Journalists can be writers, editors, photographer

s, broadcast presenters or producers who serve as the chief purveyors(供应者 ) of information and opinion in contemporary mass society.

There are many types of journalists, from the local newspaper reporter to the foreign correspondent, the magazine feature writer to the freelance(自由职业的 ) book reviewer, and so on.

Reporter A reporter(报纸、广播或电视台的记者 ) refers to a

person who finds out and writes about news events for a newspaper, or for radio or television.

A reporter is a type of journalist who researches and presents information in certain types of mass media.

Reporters perform research through interviews, public records, and other sources. The information-gathering part of the job is sometimes called "reporting" as distinct from the production part of the job, such as writing articles. Reporters generally split their time between working in a newsroom and going out to witness events or interview people.

Are you a good reporter? A good reporter is a generalist(多面手 ), able to de

al with a number of topics and talk with a variety of people.

A good reporter is quick. Once he is assigned a story, he goes after it.

A good reporter is curious. He takes pleasure both in the new and in the old.

A good reporter is pleasant. He adopts a friendly nature with those he meets. He subordinates his ego and is a good listener.

A good reporter is honest. He seeks truth and acts independently. He sees both sides to every issue.

A good reporter is courageous.

Jon Franklin is a well-known pioneer in creative nonfiction. His innovative work in the use of literary techniques in the nonfiction short story, novel, and explanatory essay won him the first Pulitzer prizes ever awarded in the categories of feature writing (1979) and explanatory journalism (1985). He is currently director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Oregon.

Pulitzer Prize (普利策奖 )--established by Hungarian-American publisher Joseph Pulitzer

The Prizes are awarded yearly in twenty-one categories. In twenty of these, each winner receives a certificate and a US$10,000 cash award. The winner in the public service category of the journalism competition is awarded a gold medal, which always goes to a newspaper, although an individual may be named in the citation.
