Cognitive FlowCreativity and Fulfillment

Where I find it?

Flow on the Job

Cognitive Flow occurs more often on the job than during free time. For example, teaching

has clear goals, it has rules of performance, provides feedback, encourages

concentration, and seeks to prevent distractions

Flow at PlayCognitive flow is intrinsic motivation, whereI do what I'm doing because I enjoy it.

Activities, such as rock climbing, produces flow because it isachievable, it requires problemsolving, and I am physically doingsomething.

When challenges are too low, I getback to flow by increasing them

If challenges are too great, I canreturn to flow by learning newskills.

Social Flow

Social interactions with other people are the least predictable, and so certain social interactions require eternal demands

that can lead to flow.

The more intimate the encounters, the more level of challengesand skills become high

Successful interactions require compatibilitybetween an individual's goals and those of other

person(s) and the willingness to invest attention inthe other person's goals.
