SRI(Socially Responsible Investment/Sustainable & Responsible Investment)?

SRI란 "투자대상 기업의 재무성과뿐만 아니라, 비재무성과도분석하여 투자에 반 하는 행위"를 말합니다. 여기서 비재무성과란i) 기업의 환경경 시스템 및 환경 향 수준 등의 환경성과(Environment), ii) 기업 대 종업원, 공급업체, 소비자 관련 정책 및성과, 지역사회 공헌 등의 사회성과(Social), iii) 기업의 투명성,이사회의 중립성 및 주주책무수준 등을 분석하는 지배구조 성과(Governance)의 세 가지 측면을 말합니다.

SRI refers to “an investment strategy reflecting on both thefinancial and non-financial returns/performance, to seekmaximum financial return and social goods”. Here, the word“non-financial performance”can be defined in three parts; i)environmental performance of a company through itsenvironmental management system and environmental impactof its business, ii) social performance such as policies andperformance related to customers, employees, suppliers, iii)governance performance that is related to corporatetransparency, neutrality of the board, and the level ofshareholders’right.

SUSTINVEST is the first SRI research & consultinginstitution established in Korea. Our ESG value modelenables us to systematically analyze and evaluate riskand opportunity factors related to corporate ESG issues.ESG value model is a multilayered rating system thatconsiders corporate financial performance, non-financialperformance such as ESG and innovation factors, andcharacteristics of different industry. Based on suchevaluation model, SUSTINVEST is currently providingadvisory services to 650 billion won worth of SRI funds,and this SRI funds have outperformed the benchmark inthe past 2 years and is continuously showing satisfactoryinvestment return.

In September 2009, SUSTINVEST developed a strategicpartnership with Trucost, a worldly recognized corporateenvironmental assessment company. SUSTINVESTadopted Trucost’s environmental impact assessmentmethodology and developed a data base on theenvironmental impacts of domestic companies.
