Using Language –Listening and Speaking is in the middle of the unit. It helps the students to understand the frightening experiences of a volcanologist, and encourage them to express their feelings and emotions of joy, fear, anxiety and surprise.

1. Word study. Broadcast the video “volcano” and teach the following new words: volcano, tremble, lave, ash cloud, anxious, panic and volcanologist.
2. Get the students look at the pictures in Part 2 and try to guess what problems the three volcanologists meet.

1. Ask the students to think about more words that express emotions and feelings.
2. Ask the students to imagine their own frightening experiences and how they felt. Let them work in pairs and talk about the experience as a reporter and a survivor.
