  • Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Art and VocationalTraining Courses (ISMEK), provides art and vocationaleducation to Istanbullians free of charge since 1996. Itis an adult education organization with thecommon public education principals.

  • ISMEK started its activities in 1996, as a common-public education in the scope of social municipal workproject, during the period of stanbul MetropolitanMunicipality Mayor Mr. Recep Tayyip ERDOAN.

  • All the trainingprogrammes, within the scope of ISMEK are free forall the trainees.

  • Expenditures are met by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

  • Course records start on September eachyear, the lectures begin on the first weekof October. Records are taken forappropriate branches in the year, theeducation period finishes on June.

    The syllabuses are determined byTurkish Republic Ministry of NationalEducation, Lifelong Learning General Management.

    The trainees that fulfill the credit of eachbranch and be successful, are givenCourse Completion Certificate, approved by Turkish Republic Ministry of National Education. The trainees thatcontinued the lectures but arentsuccessful enough, are given Course Attendence Certificate.

  • ISMEKs master educators gave education on the branches of Jewelry, Marbling, Fabric Painting, Wood Painting, Ornamentationto approximately 100 participants in Palestinian refugee camps in 2007.

    On 1st March 2008, 7 Palestinian young people, who were broughtfrom Nazif Refugee Camp to Turkey for vocational education, completed their education in ISMEK successfully.

    A group of 10 educators from Pakistan(6 of pediatric development, 1 of woodcarving, 1 of sewing woman clothes, 1 of embroidery with sewing machine, 1 of point lace) deserved the right to get a certificate after their completion of education under the educational cooperation program between ISMEK andSESRIC in stanbul.

    ISMEKs master educators give education to their Pakistani collegues who workin State of Punjab under the program of Training of Trainers. This education for45 educators of TEVTA- the most developed and known education institution of Pakistan- continued for 15 days by our 4 master educators.

  • Educators from Azerbaijan completed their education in two separate groups under the educational cooperationprogram between ISMEK and SESRIC in Istanbul.
