Other brands may copy the Crescent 3800-CT, but the problem is that look-alikes can sometimes get confused with perform-alike. And that’s a shame because Crescent users only want the best performance, regardless. Take the lengthened and hardened cutting jaws to allow easy cutting of flat multi-core cables. It’s a clean cut in one action. The precise jaw gap allows easy wire-work and the cross checking gives sure grip of the job. Built into the handle is a hardened crimping jaw for use with 1.5mm2 to 6mm2 non-insulated conductors. And you can use this crimper from either side of the plier – there are no obstacles, making the job quick and easy. Check the features of the Crescent 3800-CT insulated plier, and be sure to ask for it by name – you won’t be disappointed. That’s the one they copy!

Solid joint lineman’s pliers are made of drop-forged steel with polished heads and gun metal handles. Durable, keen and induction hardened cutting edges. Available with either yellow cushion grips or Tenite butryate grips. Crescent lineman’s pliers can be supplied where indicated, with insulating grips made from Tenite butyrate. Tests have shown this material to be highly suitable for this purpose. It has a high dielectric value and we recommend pliers to which it has been applied to those who have need for insulated tools. Available on lineman’s pliers where the letter “T” after the tool number is indicated (i.e. 50-7T).

SAFETY

Farrier tools should be used only for their designed purposes and within their size ranges. The following cautions should always be observed:1. Always wear approved eye protection.2. Never use nippers, pullers or pliers as hammers or hammer on their

Lufkin tapes and rules are manufactured to comply with Standards of the Standards Association of Australia. Standard temperature for steel tapes is 20ºC (68ºF). Coefficient of expansion for steel tapes is 0.0000116 per degree Celsius/0.00000645 per degree Fahrenheit. Standard tension for most long steel tapes, when fully supported throughout their entire length, is 50N (10lbs for English only tapes). Surveyor's tapes of heavy gauge steel have a standard tension of 75N (10lbs. for English up to 100 ft. long and 20lbs for English over 100ft long). Standard tension for Dacron and Fibreglass long tapes is 20N/4 lbs. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of tapes used in catenary as many factors affect the use of tapes in this manner. All Lufkin steel tapes have clear Lufkote protection to provide wear and corrosion resistance. Lufkin brand metal long tapes, up to and including 50 metre, are manufactured and inspected to Canadian Government Specification Board Standard 39-GP-22M. Compliance to Clause 5.3.3.7, Accuracy, of the above Standard is inspected against Bench Standard WO-304-4 which is traceable. Tapes complying with 39-GP-22M will also comply with AS 1294-1980, Coated and Etched Steel Measuring Tapes.

File Terminology Length is measured exclusive of tang, from point to heel. Desired stroke length, type of material and its size will determine length required.

Kinds of Teeth

Single set of parallel, diagonal rows of teeth. singlecutSINGLE-CUT files are often used with light pressure to produce

a smooth surface finish or to put a keen edge on knives, shears or saws.

DOUBLE-CUT Two sets of diagonal rows of teeth. The second set of teeth is cut in the opposite diagonal direction and on top of the first set. The first set of teeth is known as the overcut while the second is called the upcut. The upcut is finer than the overcut. The double-cut file is used with heavier pressure than the single-cut and removes material faster from the workplace.

RASP-CUT Teeth arranged in curved contours across the file face. The curved-cut file is normally used in automotive body shops for smoothing body panels.

Description Work to be accomplished, roughing or finishing, will determine type of teeth and coarseness for each application. Most files are available with three grades of cut: bastard-cut, second-cut and smooth cut.The degree of coarseness is greater in longer files, but differences between bastard, second-cut and smooth are proportionate.

Care of the fileThe teeth of the file should be protected when the file is not in use by hanging it in a rack or keeping it in a drawer with divisions.

Files should always be kept clear of water or grease since this impairs the filing action. It is advisable to wrap the file in a cloth for protection when it is carried in a tool box.

The file teeth should be kept clean at all times by using a file card to clear the grooves between the teeth or a wire file brush.

Nail hammers are made in two patterns; curved claw and straight or ripping claw. The face is slightly crowned with the edges beveled, although certain heavy-duty patterns may have checkered faces deigned to reduce glancing blows and flying nails. Handles may be wood, tubular steel, or fiberglass. Tubular steel and fiberglass are generally furnished with rubber-type grips.

Handles For many good reasons, the traditional choice of material for a striking tool handle is North American red hickory. It looks good and it naturally feels good. An the continuous fibers of this fine stock give great resilience and strength while minimizing impact shock. But man made materials have their advantages too. In 1955 Plumb developed and introduced the fiberglass handle. It can't rust, rot or corrode and despite its light weight it has astonishing strength. Tests on a Tinius-Olsen testing machine have shown that with more than 450lbs of applied load, a Plumb fiberglass handle won't break. The latest material, used in the Ultralite line of hammers, is nickel-chrome plated tubular steel. And after extensive research and trials, Plumb has arrived at a design which is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally correct. With its smart resilient cushion grip, as fitted to fiberglass handles, this line has the look of a winner.

JAW DESIGNS


The first safety rule is wear your gloves and safety glasses at all times!

DO wear safety shoes.

DO remove oil or grease from your hands, from tools and from the floor and area where you will be working.

DO keep your cutting tools in good repair. Tighten bolts, lubricate and inspect hoses and connections before using.

DO remember that metal flies when cut. The harder the metal, the farther it will fly.

DO warn those in the area when you intend to use a cutter. Protect your fellow workers from flying metal, too.

DO keep cutter jaws at right angles to the piece being cut.

DO remember that the hardness of the stock being cut is as important as its size.

DO use all tools as recommended.

DON'T exceed listed tool capacity.

DON'T attempt to use a cutting tool, hand or power, until you fully understand its use.

DON'T forget that metals may fly and cause injury.

DON'T cut diagonally.

DON'T twist or pry with the blades while you are cutting.

DON'T use cutters for any applications except those listed in this catalogue.

a. It is less strenuous, when heavy cutting is involved, to hold one handle of the tool on the ground with foot pressure. This permits most of the cutting force to be applied to the upper handle, making the cutting position less awkward and employing the added factor of body weight. This allows more power to be transferred to the cutting edges.

b. Use the right cutting tool for the type, size and hardness of the metal you are cutting.

c. Keep cutter jaws at right angles to piece being cut. Cutting diagonally may twist jaws out of line or chip cutting edges.

d. Don't twist or pry with tool while cutting.

e. Don't take a full cut on a material when hardness is unknown. Test first with a slow pressure to see if material is being cut. Remember, the size of the metal you are cutting is not as important as its hardness.

f. Don't exceed cutter capacity marked on the jaw of tool or rated in the catalogue.

g. Do keep jaw bolts tight and joints oiled at all times.

h. Do maintain the original jaw bevel angles when sharpening.

Originally developed for cutting the extremely tough alloys used in the aircraft industry, (hence the nickname Aviation Snips). Metalmaster snips have become the favourite of most craftsmen who work with metal.

Wiss Metalmaster snips are widely used by home craftsmen and professional metal workers in gutter and flashing work, fabrication of heating and cooling ducts and for aluminum siding installation. Wiss Metalmaster snips are indispensable to homeowners and maintenance specialists and to industrial workers in the appliance, aircraft, automotive, electrical and construction industries. It is the versatility of Wiss Metalmaster snips, in addition to their superior cutting qualities, that has made them so popular.

Wiss Metalmaster snips cut with half the effort required of conventional snips and handle even the biggest jobs. They cut acute angles, complex patterns and perfect circles of even small diameter in galvanized steel up to 18 gauge (.049"). The M5R is recommended for 16 gauge (.065")

The jaws of Wiss Metalmaster snips are made of extra tough and wear-resistant special molybdenum steel to provide the extra service demanded by the compound lever action and to withstand the severe strain of cutting heavy stock or tight curves. The M-4-1 Pipe and Duct Snips have been specifically developed for the heating and air conditioning industry. They also feature the compound lever action, but have in addition a ball bearing jaw action that automatically adjusts the blade clearance to ensure a squarer, cleaner cut. They cut flat sheet metal without distortion to cut edges.

Wiss also manufactures a comprehensive range of tinners' snips. These are available in a variety of patterns which enable cuts to be made right, left or straight. They are investment cast and have polished jaws for smooth action, combined with cleaner cutting.

Terms and ConditionsHARDWARE PRICE LIST EXCLUDING G.S.T. RR 11/07

The prices shown are recommended and exclusive of G.S.T. Net prices can be derived by applying your appropriate discount, F.O.B. point as indicated below, unless otherwise authorised by Cooper Tools Pty. Limited, Albury NSW and are subject to change without notice. All orders are subject to acceptance by the factory in Albury. Orders are accepted only on the basis of prices ruling on the date of shipment, unless otherwise agreed.

Credit Claim: Claims for shortages, breakages, etc., must be made within 14 days on receipt of goods.

All orders will be shipped F.I.S. to destination.

Small Order Charge : For orders of less than $100.00 excluding GST an order processing charge of $7.00 will apply. Back orders and spare parts are exempt from this condition.

Finish: We reserve the right to furnish, without notice, whatever finish is available regardless of catalogue descriptions.

Trading Terms: Payment received within 30 days of the last day of the month in which the invoice was raised. Cash Discounts 2% for Payment received within 10 days of the last day of the month in which the invoice was raised.

Rebates: All rebates are dependant on the recipients account being conducted as per our Terms and Conditions.

Freight: Chargeable freight to the customer will be prepaid and charged on our invoice.

Shelf Packs: All orders must be for standard packs as indicated. Where indicated Shelf Packs may be broken, at a 5% surcharge.

Product Returns: All returns of Cooper Hand Tools products should be to the factory, via our specified carrier.

Goods Returned Under Warranty: Postal or freight charges via our specified carrier both to the factory and on return will be for the account of Cooper Hand Tools.

Goods Returned for Repair: Postal or freight charges to the factory will be for customers account and return charges will be for account of Cooper Hand Tools.

Goods Returned for Credit: Any Cooper Hand Tools product may only be returned with written permission of Cooper Hand Tools Albury. All products must be new, of current design and in a resaleable condition. Credit will then be issued at the original purchase price, less a 15% handling service fee.

Stock Adjustment Policy: All requests to return merchandise must be approved by the Sales Manager - Australasia and South Pacific. An offsetting order of equivalent value must accompany the request for stock adjustment. An offsetting order must be for standard price listed items at current prices and standard terms (no promotions, specials, dating orders, contract items or merchandisers).Proof of purchase must be established on all items.

Cooper Hand Tools will not accept the return of a product as part of a stock adjustment return which was not originally purchased from Cooper Hand Tools. The price shown on the Request for Return must coincide with the price list in effect at the time of original supply. The inclusion of a copy of the original Cooper Hand Tools invoice on which the item was shipped, will expedite the processing of the adjustment. Inventory adjustments will be credited at the actual cost paid by the distributor as determined by proof of purchase, going back two years. A 15% handling service fee will be assessed.After authorization is received, all returns must be shipped to the Albury factory, freight prepaid.All returned products must be of current design and finish, in current production, and must be in a restockable condition upon receipt at the Albury factory. Any returned products which are not in a restockable condition will not be accepted and the distributor will be notified for disposition.Returns will not be allowed for special made to order items.Individually packed items must be in the original factory-sealed package when returned.

Guarantee: Cooper Hand Tools quality products are guaranteed against defective workmanship or materials. Electric/Electronic, however, have a limited warranty of one year from date of purchase.

Cooper Hand Tools is anxious to make a fair and equitable adjustment on any product that fails to perform to our standards, and therefore reserves the right to replace or repair products during the warranty period.

Damage caused by abuse, improper use or excessive wear is not covered by this guarantee.
