1. Hongkong (chinesisch , Pinyin Xinggng, kantonesisch Yale: Hunggng, Jyutping: Hoeng1 gong2, Guangdong: Hng1 gong2, englisch Hong Kong Duftender Hafen) ist eine Metropole und Sonderverwaltungszone an der Sdkste der Volksrepublik China im Mndungsgebiet des Perlflusses. Mit ber 7 Millionen Einwohnern auf 1085 km und einem bedeutenden Wirtschafts- und Finanzsektor zhlt Hongkong zu den Weltstdten. 95 % der Einwohner Hongkongs sind chinesischer Abstammung mit berwiegend kantonesischer Muttersprache. Hongkong wurde whrend des Ersten Opiumkriegs 1841 durch das Vereinigte Knigreich besetzt und durch den Vertrag von Nanking 1843 zur britischen Kronkolonie erklrt. Fr viele Chinesen war die britische Kolonie Zufluchtsort vor dem Chinesischen Brgerkrieg 1927 bis 1949 und der daraus hervorgegangenen kommunistischen Volksrepublik China. Im Jahr 1997 erfolgte die bergabe der Staatshoheit an die Volksrepublik China. Seitdem ist Hongkong eine chinesische Sonderverwaltungszone unter Beibehaltung einer freien Marktwirtschaft und hoher innerer Autonomie.Hong Kong ( ,), alternatively known by its initials H.K., is one of the two Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, the other being Macau. Hong Kong's population is 93.6% ethnic Chinese and 6.4% from other groups. Hong Kong's Cantonese-speaking majority originate mainly from the neighbouring Canton (now Guangdong) province, from which many of them fled to escape wars and Communist rule in China from the 1930s to the 1960s. Hong Kong became a colony of the British Empire after the First Opium War (183942). The Hong Kong Island was first ceded to the UK in perpetuity, followed by Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 and then the New Territories was put under lease in 1898. It was occupied by Japan during the Pacific War (194145), after which the British resumed control until 1997, when China resumed sovereignty.
