APPENDIX TO BILL OF QUANTATIES DAYWORK H DAYWORK Daywork shall be carried out only on the written instructions of the engineer, and rates and prices as provided hereunder shall only apply when the Engineer is of the opinion that the rates quoted in the Bills of Quantities are inapplicable. H-1 PAYMENT FOR LABOUR The payment for labour shall be the basic wage quoted in Item (i) "LABOUR" which shall exclude allowances and employee benefits. To such basic wage the Contractor shall be allowed to charge a percentage addition to cover allowances, employee benefits, profits, overhead charges, supervision, subsistence, temporary scaffolding, staging, checking, light, insurance, transportation, small tools and other operational and contributory items. This percentage addition will be inserted in the Bills of Quantities Item No. H.1 and no increase will be admitted on any grounds or cause whatsoever. H3 PAYMENT FOR PLANT

Payment for plant shall be at the rates quoted in Bill of Quantities Item No. H.3 "Plant". Payment shall be made for "operating time" only and excluding travelling time to and from site where required. "Standing time" and breakdown periods shall not be paid for. Rates for plant shall include for wages of all drivers, operators and attendants, all fuel, oil and consumable items, maintenance and other incidentals.

The Contractor shall hereunder state the standard time rate of wages which he pays his employees, excluding cost of living, allowances and employee benefits.

The Contractor's attention is especially drawn to the General Conditions of Contract. The Contractor will be required to adjust his rates should the relevant collective agreement be revised during the course of the Contract.
