Dear Annie: I am a57-year-old woman, and myhusband is 61. We met onlineand spent weekends togetherfor seven months beforegetting married. I was deeplyin love with him for the firstsix months.

Lately, my attitude andfeelings have changeddramatically. This man drivesme crazy and grosses me out.He is constantly clearing histhroat and blowing his nose.He is flatulent and burpslong and loud all day andnight. Hes clumsy, and hismemory is goingdownhill fast. Hebecomes verydefensive when Itry to talk to himabout any of this. Istill love him, butnot romantically. Ifeel more like a bestfriend.

I have to force

myself to kiss him,let alone sleep withhim, and due tohis denial, I havelost a lot of respect for him.This was not the man I dated.He retired six months agoand now sits around all daygetting stoned. He doesntmake friends, and he needsopen heart surgery and a kneereplacement and will require acaregiver very soon. He knewI was a nurse when we met,and I think he married mebecause of his overwhelmingfear of being alone. I havespent decades taking careof people who are disabled,

demented and in denial. I nowsee this marriage as a live-injob.

He cant understand whymy feelings have changedand blames me. I feeltotally trapped. I bought thehouse we are living in andbrought more money into themarriage. However, because Iam entitled to his retirementbenefit when he dies, heconsiders our financialcontributions to be equal.

I didnt date for 12 yearsbefore I met him and thoughtwe were very compatible. Ishould have lived with himfor at least a year, but I wantedto set a good example for my

the future you see is that ofpatient and nurse. Theres nopoint in beating yourself upover what you didnt noticewhen you were dating. Thathappens to everyone. Thequestion is what you aregoing to do about it now. Andthats where the counseling

can help. You needto sort out howyou feel, whetheryou are willing tostick it out and theemotional cost toyou.

Dear Annie:Why do peoplemake a big dealout of men who are

crossdressers?I am 43 years

old, happilymarried and not

gay. Im a businessman, andI wear lacy lingerie withbreast forms under my suitsevery day. My beautiful wifeof 20 years thinks I look hotin lingerie. When we go outto fancy restaurants, I dressup as a woman. Im verypassable, and our four teenagedaughters are OK with it.

There are straight womenwho wear mens clothing,and I never hear anythingnegative about them. AHappy Father and Husband

Dear Happy: Women whowear mens clothing generallydo so because it is morecomfortable. Men who wearwomens clothing, which isdecidedly less comfortable,often do so because it givesthem a sexual thrill or satisfiessome emotional need. (Somewomen dress like men for thesame reasons.)
