Introduction:Dhampus

Do you feel proud to be a Nepalese? Do you feel being born in Nepal? I, Do!

Nepal relatively very small in it’s size compared to other nations but it has so much popularity in the world. The first thing that comes to most of the foreigners mind in the word Nepal is either The Everest or Birthplace of Buddha but adding more to that, Nepal has one of the best trekking routes in the world which includes of mountains and villages and much more which gives u not only the taste of nature but the traditional life style that adds the touch of ethnicity.

Dhampus One such village which

is very much popular and famous for it’s beauty, beautiful scenery, mountains and more over a village lifestyle is Dhampus.

Dhampus, a name of a fabulous village, is situated at an altitude of 1750m above sea level, in the western Nepal. The village is very famous among tourists because it provides visitors with breathtaking panoramic views of Mt Dhaulagiri, Mt Annapurna, Mt Fishtail, Mt Himchuli, Lamjung Himal and many other

Dhampus Dhampus is famous for

it’s Culture, which emphasizes on Gurung community, warm hospitality, typical village lifestyle and to add cherry on the top the beautiful mountains, hills, terrace farming and of course not to forget the national flower “LALIGURAS” .

It is just 18 km away from the beautiful city of Pokhara, in the north west. Almost 25% of the tourists who comes to Nepal, visit Dhampus and leave with many fond memories of the village and the its friendly people.Dhampus is a gateway to Annapurna Conservation Area. It also serves as one of the main entry points to the Annapurna Base Camp and other trekking trails of Annapurna Region. the journey to this beautiful village starts from Phedi village, a nearly 15-20 minutes drive from the beautiful lake city of Pokhara.

community, social stratification and much more. Our visit to Dhampus was more than just the course context but more of the topic mentioned earlier :

Output of Research Even though

Dhampus is just 18 km away from Pokhara, the life style of the people living there is very simple.

The major occupation of the villagers is based on the tourism.

More than 90% of the people are engaged on tourism related business such as fooding and lodging whereas the rest are involved in farming and others.

The major source of income generation is the tourism business which involves hotels, trekking guides and other businesses.
