MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Old Mission Santa Inés Founded 1804
Capuchin Franciscan Friars Sacred Heart Sisters
February 17 & 18, 2018 First Sunday of Lent
(Genesis 9:8-15; 1 Peter 3:18-22; Mark 1:12-15)
Mission Statement
We the people of Old Mission Santa Inés, following the path of Jesus Christ, are making His vision a reality through
love, unity, justice, joy and hope.
TODAY
He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him. Jesus came to dwell where we dwell—between the beasts and the angels! For Christians, the desert has always been the place to face the reality of our lives and choose how we want to live. During Lent the Spirit leads us, too, into the desert, so that we can confess our sins, be grateful for our gifts, and renew our trust in the grace of God. I pray this Lent will be a time of blessing for all of us here at Mission Santa Inés.
Fr. Bobby
If there is one word that stands out in today’s read-ings, it is “covenant.” God’s faithfulness and goodness serve as examples to us of how to live. Genesis tells the story of Noah and of God’s covenant not only with all people, but with all of nature. Nev-er will the cleansing waters of the flood bring their destructive power to all the earth again. The sign, the
reminder to both God and nature, is the rainbow in the heavens.
The psalm reminds us of this compassion of God, and begs God to remember us, not because of our goodness,
but because of God’s goodness and fidelity to the promise. God shows us how to be good, not by decree, but by example.

OUR HOLY FATHER’S INTENTIONS FOR FEBRUARY
Universal: Say “No” to Corruption That those who have material, politi-cal or spiritual power may resist any lure of corruption.
Did you know? Establishing boundaries. Helping chil-dren understand that they have the right to establish boundaries if anyone tries to hurt them or touch them in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable is an im-portant, but sometimes difficult, task. Establishing boundaries around touch is integral to keeping kids safe. Having regular, open conversations about safety is one of the best ways to help keep kids safe. Remind children that their bodies are their own, encourage them to talk about their concerns and listen respectfully when they do. HOY
LECTURAS DE HOY
Génesis 9:8-15 1 Pedro 3:18-22 Marcos 1:12-15
NOTICIAS
