Dear Ms. PULONG WIJANG PRALAMPITA:
Congratulations on becoming a Japanese Government Scholarship student to study in Japan.
We are happy to welcome you here in Kagoshima in the following years. We sincerely hopeyou will successfully complete your study program.
Now that you have been formally accepted as a Japanese Government Scholarship student,
you should be preparing for departure now. We will inform you of some fundamental
information on your coming to Japan.
1. Pledge
You are required to make your pledge to the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports,
Science and Technology, Government of Japan. Should you wish to accept the offer of
the scholarship, please sign and mail the attached PLEDGE to the following address
before 24 July 2013.
2. Visa
You must obtain a STUDENT visa prior to your arrival in Japan. When you apply for a
visa to enter Japan, please go to the Japanese diplomatic mission in your country of your
nationality on or after July 17, 2013 with your passport and the attached the admission
acceptance. Please note that you have to inform the officials at the public and diplomacy
department that you have been selected as a Japanese Government Scholarship student
through Kagoshima University. Certificate of Eligibility for Status of Residence is not
needed for Japanese Government Scholarship students.
You may also be required to show the admission acceptance at the immigration upon
your arrival in Japan. Please be sure to have the admission acceptance with you whenyou come to Japan.
3. Air ticket
Traveling expenses for MEXT Scholarship students will be paid in the form of one-way
economy class air ticket with international airlines to travel from the international airport
nearest to your residence in your country to Narita International Airport or to an
international airport Kagoshima University normally uses for international routes. We
and a travel agency will contact you around the middle of July to arrange your flight.
Your travel grant does not cover local flight in Japan, hotel charge, airport usage fees and

airport tax. You will be asked pay those fees by yourself when you receive an invoice
from the travel agency through us. Please note that after your arrival in Japan, you will
be requested to submit all boarding stubs of the flights to the International Student Office
of the university.
You should pay attention to the following: If you alter the airline ticket or if you do notuse the airline ticket that is arranged by MEXT to come to Japan, you will have to cover
your own traveling expenses.
4. Airport pick-up services
You will meet your tutor, your supervisor or a staff of the university at Kagoshima
Airport. Please contact us about the transportation arrangements.
5. Dormitories
The international student office will reserve a furnished single room in the International
Residence Hall. It contains a bed, a desk and chair set and drawers. You are allowed to
live there for up to 6 months. After 6months, you have to look for private
accommodation yourself. Any extra requests like changing type of room, changing
building, etc cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
As there is limited family room available at the International Residence Hall, it is
extremely difficult to secure accommodation for students accompanied by their family.
Most students who wish to live with their family have to look for private accommodation
outside of the university themselves. It is advisable to bring your family to Japan only
when you have found accommodation after arriving in Japan.
6. Reject the scholarship
If for any reason you need to reject the scholarship, you are required to notify us
promptly.
7. Handbook for international students
Lots of useful information is provided in the guidebook. You can download the
