    Dear

    Brothers

    and Sisters in Christ«

It is time for another newsletter. Not much has

    happened

    during

    the p . ' i s t

    few

    months b u t

    what

    did occur

    was

    significant.

    We praise the

    Lord

    for

    Kls

    guidance

    and

    care.

We had an interview wit the Canadian,

    Consul

    in Chicago. We were

    told that

    we

    cann ot immigrate

    into

    Canada because we

    will not

    have

    a

    Canadian

    salary.

    (The laws

have changed since the Dilleys entered

    Canada

    over three

years ago.) However, they will grant us a

    visa

for a period of one year

    to

    begin our m i s s i o n work in Montreal. The visa will b e g i n June 1, 1976 and

    end May 31, 1977*

    At that

    time we

    will

    have t o reapply

    for

    another year's

visa. We have had our physical examination s,

    so

    once

    the

    immigration office

    in

Otta wa, Ontar io approves them

    we will receive

    our visas.

    We

    are

    very excited

    about

    being accepted

    by the

    Canadian governm-nti

    We

    believe

    the

    yearly

    visas, in stead of immigration, t o be God's will i n

    the

matter. He knows what is best and we

    are

thankful that we are His and that

    we

    work

    for Him.

    Our

    maJpE^concern.

is support. Our support ers have increased in

number, but we still have half of our

    estimated

    amount

    to

    raise

    yet.

    The

    immigration officer

in Chicago to ld us that when we

    enter Canada

    we will

    nned

    to

    have letters

    from our

    supporters stat ing the

    amount each

    will supply every

    month.

    If the t o t a l

    of

    the

    pledged

    amounts seems

    inadequate

    to the

    border

    officer, we

    will

    n o t be

    allowed

    to

    enter. We

    have been praying

    for

    more

    supporters

    and sufficient financial aid

    so

    that we nay do the

    Lord's work

    In Montreal. We

    ask that

you be praying the same. We

    trust that

    God will

    s u p p l y

    all that

    is n e e d e d . (John

    and

    J o h n

    1 5 i 7.)

At present, other than rai sing support,

    we

    are both working here

    in

    Lincoln.

We are loo king forward to May when Rhon da

    will

    receive

    her

    A.B.

    degree in

    Christian Educatio n

    from L.C.C.

    Then

    if the

    Lord

    wilis,

    we will

    enter

    Canada June 1.

    Praise the Lord

    Rhonda

    just

    turned

    twenty-three and

    ^teve will

    b o twenty-five

    this

    month.

    We

    are hoping this

    helps

    on

    the

    car

    insurance rates, as Montreal has

    the

    highest

    rates

    i n North America

    Our

    hope is

    that

    our

    next

    letter

    to

    you will be

    to

    inform you

    that

    all

    is

    ready

    for Montreal and we

    are on

    our way.

    Thank

    you for your

continued support. Please keep prayin g for us as we pray

    for

    you.

    as

    far as Canada

    is concerned,

    we

    can enter the co-untry

    at

    any time.

    Our problem is

    still

    support.

    We

    have

    picked

    up some support and

    we praise

    God for

    al l

    the people

    who

    have

    taken

We keep sendi ng letters to churches but o nly about 3% f these answer. So you

    Dear

    Friends

    in

    Christ

    Our prayer

    is that

    God

    is

    building

    you

    up in Christ

    Jesus,

    that

    Uie

    entire

    world

    will

    know

    that Jesus is the Christ.

    We a a n r i v e d

here in Montreal Friday ni^t, eptember

    3*

    On

    Saturday

    Dennis, Debbiej

    Dan

and Mark Dilley and Debbie's brother and his wife helped us

    unload our U-Haul

    truck. With

    so

    many helping hands

    it

    took only

    a

    few hours,

    whereas it

    took

a whole day to pack it back in Lincoln. We would like to

    thank

    our families and everyone

    else who helped

    us move. We are

    pretty

    well settled

in now with only a few

    boxes

    of baby things

    to

    unpack.

We had a sli^t problem when we

    arrived

    in Canada.

    The

    border offi

    cers

    told

    us to report

    to Customs

    Officials in

    Montreal. They

    didn't

    search

    our

    truck

    or

    ask

    any questions as we

    had

    expected. In

    Montreal

    we were told that

    since we would

    not

    be staying for a

    full

    year, we would have to

    pay

    a deposit

    on our

    household goods

    and

    earn

    (Our

    visa began July

    1.

    Waiting for

    sufficient

    financial support,

    we

    didn't

    enter Canada untilSept.

    3

    a difference of two

    months.)

    If

we had refused or been unable to pay the $500 deposit we

    would

    have

    had to

    leave

    the country#

    Again

    God

    has been providing

    for

    our needs

    throu^

your gifts and fortunately we are to be refunded the entire amount when our visa

is renewed for another year or we

    are

    accepted as landed immigrants.

    Another problem is

    l^iat

    Rhonda may

    not

    be included

    on

    Steve's work

    visa and may need papers

    of

    her

    own# We doubt

    this is so,

    but

    we have

    an appoint

    ment in mid-October with

    an

    immigration official to

    find

    out for sure.

    If

    needs

    be, Rhonda can get

    a

    tourist visa

    for

    the length of

    our

    stay.

    area

for about a month and a half

    now#

    We

    thank

o ur L ord for all that we are

    learning.

    We are

    growing in

    faith

    and in

    the

    knowledge of Jesus Christ.

    We are

    growing

    i n o ur comprehension

    of

    the

    world

    as

    well#

Living in a different country, in a different soc iety is

    broadening

    o ur understand

    ing.

    This

    has also

    impressed

    upon

    us, further,

    the neod

    for

    the

    gospel of Jesus

    Christ everywhere

    in the

    world#

    In

last month's letter we mentioned that Rhonda may not be inc luded

    on

    our

    visa.

    We

    met with

    an

    immigration official this month and

    found

    that

    she is. The

officer was very friendly toward us and answered all of our questionŝ It was

    as

    if

    a

    fog

    had been

    lifted

    from

    us and the

    sm egan

    to

    shine.

    We cannotexplain the

    happiness

    and

    excitement

    we

    felt. We

    thank our God

that He is guiding us and

    taking

    care

    of

    o ur every n eed.

    We

    will

    not

    have to bother

    with

    the immigration people

    again

    until next summer. Now

    we

    can

    concentrate

    fully

    on our

    work here.

    Steve

    has

    been preaching on

    Sunday mornings with

    the

    West Island Church

    of

    Christ.

    There

    has been just a handful

    of

    us worshipping

    together.

    Several

    of

the Christians have pull ed away from the church. Family

    tension

    i s one culprit and

    a few

will not accept t he full gospel. They themselves were immersed in to Jesus

Christ but they feel they cannot say

    it is essential for

    others. We've

    been

    able to

    call on these Christians

    and

    we

    see hope for

    the situation.

    Our

    goal is to continue

talking with them and bring them back in to the fellowship. We've also been act ive

    with the

Dilley's Bible Club. Attendance is holding steady. Some of - t h e

    older

    girls

    are

    asking seirious questions

    about

    the

    gospel.

    We

    praise

    God

    for

    their soul -

    searching.

    There

    is

    a major drawback invol ved

    i n

    evangelizing

    in

    this area. People

    do

    n o t like for others

    to

    just "drop

    i n "

    on

    them.

    Before we could

    call

    on

    any of the

    Christians here,

we had to set up an

    appointment.

    It seems that most

    people

    are

accustomed t o this. This may be why door- to- door calli ng has not accomplished much

    i n

the pasto Also, before anyone can go door-to-door

    for

    any reason they must have

    a license or

    permit

to do so. The same goes for distributing tracts# The Dilleys

    Good

    News, please

    let

    know.

    Personally,

    we are doing pretty

    well.

    We

    have both

    had

    colds this month

    but are

    back

on our feet now. We are gettin g the baby's room ready and

    are

    really

excited. We lear ned that a ward room for Rhonda will cost over

    $160

    per day. This

    baby is

    going

to be expensive Fort una tel y we

    have

enough i n our personal savings

    to

    cover

the cost. We celebrat ed Thanksgiving on October 11

    with

    the Dilley's. It

    was

    a beautiful day and we

    had

    lots

    of good

    food.

    Now

    we are

    anticipating our own

U.S. Thanksgiving. Incieed we have much, to be thankful for.

    Please,

    continue t o

    pray for

    us.

    Ask

    the Lord to bring

    us into, contact

    w i t h receptive people. Pray

    for the

    y o . u n g people in the Bible

    Club as they

    study

    God's Word

    and

    apply i t

    to t h e i ^ e l v e s .

    Pray

    for

    their

    parents as

    well

    that

    they

    may

    be receptive.

    Please

    pray

    for

    those who

    have pulled

    away from the

    fellowship,

    that

    they

    may

    soon

gra^p the full impact of God's

    Word. Please be piaying

    for Rhonda as

    she is now i n t o

    her

eighth month of pregnancy and for our child as well. Thank God

    for

working out our visa problems too. Prayer

    is

one of the most powerful tools

    God has

    given

us. If you will pray with us regardin g these

    things

    we are

    confident

    God will answer positively.

    Now to him who

    is able

    t o strengthen you

    according

    to the gospel

the preac hing of Jesus Christ, according to the revelatio n of the mystery

    have

    much to be thankful for

    We

    Imagine

    you have heard of the

    elections here in Quebec

    recently.

    Most of

    premier

    of

    Q uebec

    called for a

    general

    election. At

t h a t time the Liberal party was in power

    w i t h

    102 of 110 seats i n their assembly.

    After

    a month

of campaigning, the elections took pl ac e on November 15* The Parti

    Quebecois,

    the Liberals* strongest

    opponents,

    won 69

    seats

    in

    the ass embly

    and thus

became the pa rty t o lead Quebec. The leader of the party

    i s

    Rene Levesque a n d he

    h a s become

    t he

premier. Ma n y people strongl y wa n ted the

    people voted

    for t h a t

    p a r t y

    t o

    insure their defeat.

    The Parti Quebecois h a s

    been

    separation

    of

    Quebec

    from Canada.

    A n

    Quebec

    is

    their goal. Many of

    the

    people wh o voted

    for

    not

    vote

for separation. The latest p oll shows only 11^ of the population in

    Whether Quebec

    it is

    becoming more

    We

    for

    the opportunity

    teach these young

    people more often. We made

    a

    positive

    contact

recently too. A school teacher liv

    apartment

    building

    has shown

a lot of interest. She is planning to

    services

    us

    to

    others who

    are

    Personally, we

    are

    getting along O.K. We

    have

    been

    learning

    much

    about

    how

    Canada's

    federal

    government

    works as well as

    the provincial government. It

    is

really fascinating. \ l e have also learned that

    the

    teach

    some

    whereas during our own American

    Canada was

    Lately

    then,

    we've been learning

    We've done

    a

    expensive.

Candy, especially chocolate, is very expensive. Toys are

    too. Batteries

    for toys and radios, etc.,

    range

    in price from

    920

    animals, in

    general,

    seem

    to

    be

    less expensive.

    Some

    clothing

    is

    other
