CurriculumMedium of Instruction

The Medium of Instruction is English. Chinese Language in Form 1 to Form 3 is taught in Putonghua. We offer a balanced curriculum that caters for the interests,abilitiesandneedsofthestudents.Differentemphasesareplacedat different developmental stages of the students.

Achievements and Reflection on Major Concern for Future Planning

1. Nurturing inSPCCstudentsasetofdesirableattributes(StudentProfile)for intellectual, personal, moral, spiritual and social development as a shared vision and educational goal

Tonurturethesetofdesirableattributes(StudentProfile)inourstudents,theschemesofworkwith lessondesign, learningpedagogies,andassessmentineachsubjectwere revised. Thepastyearwas the firstyearwhen theimplementation of a whole set of revised schemes of work from Form 1 to Form6 ineverysubjectwascarriedout.Thereafter, therevisedschemesofworkwillbesubject toaprocessofon-goingevaluation, improvementanddevelopment.

Similarly this process of perpetual evaluation and improvement will also be conductedontheuseofSelf-reflectiontool-anannualreflectiontaskbasedontheStudentProfile toguidestudents toreflectontheirattainmentof thenine student attributes through academic and non-academic experiences.

Following the display of relevant classical western paintings in the library and asscreensaverinclassroomcomputers,anewsetofnineChinesepaintings,like theirwesterncounterparts,weredisplayedsimilarly in the libraryandclassroom computers. A morning assembly on these Chinese paintings was held to help students to get a better understanding of their meaning and relation to the attributes.

To further engage students and to integrate with their learning experiences in thedevelopmentoftheattributes,"WeinOurEyes-OurRepresentationsoftheSPCCStudentProfile"wasconductedinthepastyear.Itwasaninterclassmultimedia competition to which each Form 1 to Form 5 class should submit at least one entry that best illustrates one of the three attributes assigned to theirform.TheentryhadtobeeithertherecordoforareflectioninspiredbyahappeningintheStudentActivitiesWeek(SAW).Itcouldalsobeintheformofaphotograph,awrittenquoteofwordsfromteachers,instructorsorpeers,an anecdote or a short video clip accompanied by a short explanation. This competition was conducted successfully resulting in a variety of presentations which were displayed in the school campus.

ThefinalphaseoftheStudentProfileistheStudentoftheYearAwardtobeawarded to honour a student in each year group who has exemplified the attributes of the SPCC Student Profile. The applicants are assessed by a SelectionBoardwhichshortliststhefinaliststotheInterviewBoardformakingrecommendationtothePrincipal.Duringthisacademicyear,therewerethreerecipients of this Award in recognition of their exemplary personal qualities demonstratedduringtheirstudyinForm4,Form5andForm6.

2. Effective delivery of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)Programmeand the InternationalBaccalaureateDiplomaProgramme(IBDP)

A briefing was held in December 2015 for Form 3 students and parents to introducetothemthetwocurriculaandtherangeofsubjectsweoffered. AsurveyoncurriculumandsubjectpreferencewasconductedamongallForm3classes in January 2016 to better understand their needs and interests. Based onthe informationgatheredfromthesurvey, theForm4classstructureandarrangementofsubjectgroupswerereviewedtomatchascloselyaspossiblewith the students' preferences. A trial allocation was done in May 2016 to furtherrefinethearrangement.Underthenewarrangement,wewereabletoofferatotalof42DSEand30IBsubjectcombinations.94%ofthestudentswereallocatedtheirmostpreferredDSEorIBsubjectcombination.

With the full implementation of small group teaching for all DSE classes in 2015-2016, theaveragesubjectgroupsizeof22 to26enabled teachers tocatermoretotheneedsofindividualstudents,enhancelearningoutcomesaswell as create opportunities for students to grow and develop in the attributes laidoutintheSPCCStudentProfile.Subjectpanelscontinuedtoreviewandrefinetheirlessondesignsandteachingpedagogiesforsmallgroupteaching.

Ourteachersattendedseminarsandworkshopstokeeptrackoftheongoingreview of the HKDSE curriculum and assessments so as to prepare for the implementation of the changes recommended by the Education Bureau. They alsocommunicatedtheirviews,suggestionsandfeedbacktotheGovernmentthrough surveys.

OurfifthDSEcohortachievedoutstandingresultsinthe2016HKDSEexams,with63%of thestudentsachievinglevel5oraboveinfiveormoresubjectsand95.5%ofthemqualifiedforJUPASdegreecourses.Theyreceivedoffersof admission from top local and overseas universities and many were admitted to highly competitive programmes.

OurIBDPresultswereequallyadmirable.Anaverageof41outofafullpoints-scoreof45wasobtainedand55.9%ofourstudentsscore42ormorepoints.These exceptional achievements allowed the Class of 2016 to receive offers

of admission from top local and overseas universities.

Whilewearepleased tohaveachieved suchoutstanding results, it isnecessary for us to constantly assess the effectiveness of our teaching and learning for continuous improvement. This we did most rigorously in the 2015-2016 academic year in which we submitted to The International Baccalaureate our first 5-yearly review findings. This review is The International Baccalaureate's equivalent to an inspection process of formal self-reflection involving all stakeholders within the school's IB community. It has been evidence based and has drawn on existing school documentation toreflectouractualpracticeduring theperiodunderreview.FeedbackfromtheIBonourreviewfindingswasreceivedattheendoftheschoolyearandweweredelightedtobe informedthat ithadnot identifiedanymatterstobeaddressed. Among the many strengths that have been recognised are our 'very thorough and realistic self-study' and 'the initiatives taken during the period under review for addressing the development of the Learner Profile andthepromotionofinternationalmindedness'.Ourteachershavealsobeencommendedfor remaining 'up todatewith therequirementsof thesubjectsin the DP' and for 'using an explicit model of teaching-learning that promoted thespiritandpracticeofacademichonesty'. Inall, the lengthyandthoroughprocessofself-evaluationhasprovidedusaninsightfulandreflectiveanalysisas to where SPCC is in her IB development. We shall remain focused on our existing strengths and commit to continual improvement.

3. Catering for the needs and capabilities of gifted students through expansion and strengthening of personalised learning programmes

Collaborativeplanningofenrichmentprogrammes,goodsupport forgiftedstudents,professionaldevelopmentforteacherstostrengthentheidentificationofandsupport forgiftedstudents, interfacingwith thePrimarySchoolareincorporated into the routine work. The Gifted Education Committee serves to facilitate teachers' continual exchange of ideas and good practice in various domains. The Committee ensures close collaboration among departments on the holistic development of gifted students. Departments also review existing and explore new programmes whenever appropriate. The interfacing working groupswiththePrimarySchoolensuretheearlyidentificationofandsupportfor gifted students as well as timely report on students' progress.

There are school-based enrichment and pull-out training programmes for studentstodeveloptheirtalentsindebating,leadership,mathematics,music,scienceandsports.Exceptionallygiftedstudentscanjoinoff-siteenrichmentprogrammes throughschoolnominations.More than60students joinedHongKongAcademy forGiftedEducation (HKAGE)andHKUAcademyfor the Talented as well as off-site enrichment programmes organised by ChineseUniversityofHongKongandHongKongUniversityofScienceand

Technology. Teachers will continue to identify suitable online courses and promote them to gifted students next year. There is ongoing communication between teachers and gifted students regarding students' development in various enrichment programmes both inside and outside school. Students' feedback on these enrichment programmes has helped teachers to further support gifted students both personally and academically.

In addition to school team training, students continue to develop theirtalents in Music and Sports through various enrichment programmes inside and outside school. To ensure individual students have good support and guidance, theMusicandSportsDirectorsand teachers-in-chargemaintainclose communication with these students regarding their development in these areas. 14 Form 1 to Form 3 students attended the Programme for the Musically Gifted in lieu of normal music curriculum. Two gifted Music students weregivenspecialacademicallowancetopersonalisethecurriculum,allowingtime for practices in preparation for auditions and performances.

In theyearof2015-16,SPCCstudentsagainachievedoutstandingresultsinexternalcompetitions in theEnglish languageandChinese language,debating,economics,mathematics,music,scienceandsports.TheEnglishand Chinese Debating Teams entered the Hong Kong Bar Association Debating Competition 2016 for the first time and both were awarded Championships of the tournament.

Easy access to records regarding students participation in school-based or off-siteenrichmentprogrammes,bothintheschoolserverandtheiPortfoliooftheeClass,havekeptteachersupdatedaboutstudents'progressinvariousareas.Teachers also attended courses or workshops related to gifted education and shared their experiences within each department.

Spiritual and Moral Education AsaChristiancollege,weplaceastrongemphasisonnurturingthespiritualgrowthofourstudents.Throughdailymorningassemblies,ReligiousStudieslessonsandChristianFellowshipprogrammes, thepracticeofChristianeducationisenhanced.Thisyear,RevVincentChanofficiatedatourAdventandLentenServices.Attheseservices,atotalof$13,261wascollectedanddonated to 12 local voluntary organisations. To show our love and care to the underprivileged inoursociety,wehavealsocollectedanddonated125giftboxes to the underprivileged children in Evangel Children's Home in Hong Kong and Hechi Gratia Children Village in Guangxi.

AtChristmas,theCollegefollowedthetraditionofholdingourCarolServiceatStJohn'sCathedral(forForm2toForm6students)andatStPaul'sChurch(forForm1students),withtheVeryRevMathiasDerandRevVincentPoon

delivering thesermon respectively;whileonAscensionDay, theservicewas held at St John's Cathedral with Rev Simon Tang Yik Hong delivering thesermon.EveryWednesdayatmorningassembly,weweregrateful tothe Pastors of St Paul's Church for coming regularly to give sermons to us. Besides,wewereparticularlyexcited tohavemembers fromourbigSPCCfamily, includingChristianalumniandparents, toshare their faithand lifeexperience with us at the morning assembly. Students were impressed by their testimonies and their faithful service in different sectors of the society.

Thisyear is theCollege'sCentenaryAnniversary, thethemeof theChristianFellowshipwas"ForHisGrace"whichremindedourstudents tobegratefulfor God’s grace in the past 100 years. This theme also emphasised on spreading the message of thanksgiving and appreciation in students' daily life. Throughregulargatherings,morningprayermeetingsandcellgroupsharing,students were nurtured in Christian faith. The Religious Week was held from 8to21December,which includedamusicworshipandevangelical rally inmorningassembly,andactivities likeBarefootWalk,handicraftworkshop-"Beanangelof theothers"andCarolSingingtoarousestudents' interest inChristianity. Inaddition,TueStation,areligious luncheongatheringfor juniorformstudents,withtheChristianparents(prayergroupofPTA)providingfoodand the teachers giving Biblical sharing served over a hundred students. All these provided our students with a supportive environment for spiritual growth.

The Moral Education and Pastoral Care Team organised various activities duringtheyear.ICAC,DepartmentofHealth,TheFamilyPlanningAssociationand St James' Settlement were invited to give talks and hold workshops forstudentsonvarious topics likementalhealth,anti-corruption,positiveself-imageandsexeducation. Inaddition,aseriesofmaterialsunder theframework of Positive Education have been designed for Form Teacher Periods. The school also co-operated with St James' Settlement to provide our students with career inspiration activities.

Apart from individualcounselling,our threeschoolsocialworkers fromStJames' Settlement organised different developmental groups for students. A group of senior form students were coached through The Big Brother Big Sister Scheme to help the Form 1 students adapt to school life. About 41 Form 1and23Form2students joined thePlay,Sharing,Practice (PSP)groupsto enhance their coping skills and positive self-image. Activities included lunchtimegatheringsandsharing,overnightcampsandoutdooractivities.Interpersonal relationship workshops were conducted for Form 3 classes to guide students on the management of intimate relationships. A series of Life ConnectionProgrammes (LCP)werealsoorganised throughout theyear.Aservice trip toanorphanage inFujianwasarranged incollaborationwithGratiaduringtheEasterholidays,with24studentsand1parentparticipatingin the trip.

Leadership and Service Learning

DuringtheStudentActivitiesWeek(SAW),Form1studentsenjoyedasafeand engaging outdoor learning programme with Dragonfly. Form 2 students travelled toBeijing fora languageandculture immersionprogramme inassociationwith theUniversityofHongKong. InForm3,wecompletedasuccessfulplace-based learningprogrammeinTaiO,YimTinTsaiandKukPo inHongKong. InForm4,studentswereengaged inavarietyofServiceLearning programmes with schools and organisations such as Ebenezer School &Home for theVisually Impaired,Methodist EpworthVillageCommunityCentre,andCrossroads.Twooptionswereoffered toForm5DSE students with 45 of them organising their own Self-Initiated Programmes and the remaining 79 participating in a variety of business and university attachment programmes across a diverse range of sectors.

Our junior formsall completedaone-dayServiceLearningprogrammebetween March and April. Form 1 took part in a beach cleaning activity spread across several locations around Hong Kong. Form 2 spent the day entertaining the residents at either Tung Wah Group Elderly Nursing Home or St James' Settlement Scenic Resort Nursing Home and Form 3 worked with Saviour Lutheran and Choi Jun Schools for the mentally disabled.

Various programmes were organised to suit the students' individual needs: leadership programmes such as the CheongShim International Academy ModelUnitedNations(CSIAMUN)2016,theIn-houseleadershipprogrammesfor juniorandseniorstudents, thePrefects'LeadershipTrainingProgramme,overseas learning trips to various places, includingmainlandChina,Singapore,SouthKorea,Australia,France,SouthAfricaandtheUS.

Rites of Passage

ThiswasthefifthRitesofPassageprogrammewithafullcohortof214Form3studentsspending28days inQueensland,Australia.Spreadacrossthreeresidentialcampuses,andthroughavarietyofexperiences focusedaroundthefourkeycomponentsofcommunity living,outdooractivities,expeditionsandenquiry based learning, the studentswere challengedphysically,emotionally and mentally.

Round Square is a worldwide network of innovative schools in 40 countries across five continents that share a holistic philosophy of education. As a regionalmember,ourstudentsandstaffhaveopportunities to takepart inregionaland internationalconferences,serviceprojectsandexchangeswithother Round Square schools.

A student committee within the school is tasked with developing and promoting activities thatmatch thesix IDEALSofRoundSquare; Internationalism,Democracy,Environmentalism,Adventure,LeadershipandService.WithstudentownershipofRoundSquareactivitieswithintheschool,wehavehighexpectations for our future involvement throughout the region and globally.

Language and Culture

Foreign Language Studies

In2015-2016,weofferedtwostreamsofforeignlanguagestudiestostudents:Programme A for interest and Programme B for academic pursuit.

ForProgrammeA,wehadtwoYear1German/ArabicclassesonFridaysafterschool. They exposed students to the German and Arabic cultures through learning the basics of these languages.

ForProgrammeB,weofferedFoundationSpanishandFoundationFrenchLevels 1-4 classes on weekdays and Saturdays. The purpose was to build upstudents'foundationinthetwolanguages,thuspavingthewayforforeignlanguage studies in senior secondary and university.

Students took their IGCSE Spanish Exams in May 2016. They achieved brilliant results.Fouroutoffiveof themachievedthehighestbandingofA*withthefifthstudentobtaininganAgrade.

Culture Salon Activities

The theme for 2015–2016 was Cultural Perspectives of Secondary Students 中學生的文化眼界 .

The Odyssey of the Mind Programme 2016

AteamoffiveForm4andtwoForm3studentstookpart in theHongKongOdysseyoftheMind(OM)CompetitionsinApril2016.Withteachers'andpastOMmembers'continuoussupportandmonthsoftrainingandpreparation,theteam was awarded the Best Performance in Spontaneous Problem and the Championship in its division among 16 teams.

AsoneofthewinningHongKongteams,ourteamrepresentedHongKongtoparticipateintheWorldFinals2016intheUSandachieved10thplaceamong47 teams in the division.

Over thepast11years inwhichour school hasparticipated in theOMcompetitions,ourstudentshaveachievedveryoutstandingresults includingthreechampionships, twosecondrunners-up, twoCreativeAwardsandtwoBest Performance in Spontaneous Problem. This would probably be the last year that the local competition was organised by the Hong Kong Federation YouthGroups.Ourstudentsappreciatedtheopportunitytoengageincreativeproblem-solving with other young people in Hong Kong and from over the world and would cherish the many fond memories they have had over the years.

Three teamsof students fromForm2, Form3 andForm4&Form6participated in the competition which was organised by am730 and Good MorningClassandsupportedbyHongKongBrandDevelopmentCouncil,Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Advertisers Association.

The competition provided an opportunity for the students to create an advertisementforreal-lifecompanies.OurteamswontheBrandAwardintheirdivision.TheteamofForm4&Form6alsowontheCommercialAward,theBestStoryboardAwardaswellasthegrandprizeofOverallChampionship.The design created by our team of Form 3 students was adopted by the company to be used as an advertisement in the newspaper am730. The slightlymodifiedversionof theadvertisementdesignedbyForm4&Form6students was also accepted by the company for upload on the Internet.

Exhibition, talk and sharing

The Zhuyuetang Exhibition Gallery was opened this year with the first exhibition"DesigningOurCity"byalumni.Alltheexhibitswereaward-winningarchitecturalprojects.Astudent-helpergroupwasformedandtrainedbyouralumni architects to help set up the exhibits.

Thesecondexhibition"JonSequitur"fromMarchtoJune2016byouralumnusMr Jonathan Mak was a collection of graphic designs including the well-known Apple logowhichpaid tribute to the lateMrSteveJobs, theposter 'CokeHands' which won Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions and Spikes Asia 2012 and the souvenirs designed by him for the centenary celebration of the College. Mr Makalsosharedwithushisexperienceincreatinglogos,posters,illustrationsand motion graphics at a morning assembly.

Atalkon"TheArtofMime"wasgivenbythedirectorofWeDramanGroup,MrTangWaiKitDesmond,on thehistoryanddevelopmentof thisspecialperformingarts.MrTangwasthefirstHongKongartistwholearntmimefromtheinternationalwell-knownmaster,MrMarcelMarceau.

AlumnusMrTangHoMingwasalsoinvitedtogiveaperformancenamed"TheArtofHumour"atamorningassembly.

Other activities

IncollaborationwiththeLanguageandCultureWorkingGroup,aninterclassmultimediacompetition"WeinOurEyes–OurRepresentationsoftheSPCCStudentProfile"wasorganised.EachForm1 toForm5classsubmittedatleast one entry that best illustrated one of the three attributes inspired by a happeninginStudentActivityWeek(SAW).Thewinningpiecesweredisplayedin the School Library.

On27October2015,56studentsvisitedtwoexhibitionsheldintheUniversityMuseumandArtGalleryof theUniversityofHongKong.On14April2016,29 students visited two exhibitions held in the Run Run Shaw Creative Media CentreoftheCityUniversityofHongKong.

Extra-Curricular Activities and Enrichment Programmes

Student-organised extra-curricular activities have always been an important component of students' education. These activities not only allow students to joinprogrammesof theirownchoice,butalsoenablethemto learnaboutleadershipand teamwork,aswell asundergogratifyingand rewardingexperiences. A list of extra-curricular activities offered is given in Table 1.

The year 2015-2016 is a record year in sports as we have made history by beingnamed theChampion for theBOCHKBauhiniaBowlAwardunderthe Co-educational category for the second consecutive year. The award is regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in Hong Kong. Thanks to all sportsteammembers,coachesandteacherswhohaddevotedmuchoftheirtimeintrainingtoachievesuchasignificantperformanceinallsports. OurSwimmingGalawasheldon4September2015atVictoriaParkSwimmingPoolwithDrLamWingWo,PTAVice-chairmanastheguestofhonourfortheprizepresentation.OurannualSportsDaywasheldon2December2015atSiuSaiWanSportsGroundwithMrsHelenaSin,PTAChairladyastheguestof honour to present the prizes.

Duetoblackrainstormon15January2016,theForm1trackandfieldeventson the Athletics Activities Day were cancelled. Form 3 and Form 2 students had the opportunity to try out various sports on 11 March 2016 and 14 April 2016respectively.Thesesportsincludedtenpinbowling,lawnbowls,archery,dance,hockey,golfandsportsclimbing.

Toallowstudents tomakebetteruseof theirsummervacation,aSummerSports Training Programme was arranged for all students. This year’s activities includedbasketball,fencing,squash,swimming,dance(hiphop),badminton,and table tennis. Intensive training was provided for members of the school teams,includingbasketball,badminton,volleyball,fencing,soccer,swimmingand table tennis.

In thearenaofmusic,ourmusicmakerscontinue toshineonstage.Theyear started off with the Wind Band claiming a Gold Award in the Winter BandFestivalandtheStringOrchestraclaimingaSilverAward in theHongKongYouthMusicInterflowsinthefall.Inthe68thHongKongSchoolsMusicFestival,atotalof3firstprizes,5secondprizesand1thirdprizewerewonbythe various music teams and ensembles.

Inadditiontotheirregularroutines, theSchoolOrchestra,TrebleandSeniorMixed Voice Choirs took centre stage in the Centenary Concert held in theHongKongCulturalCentreConcertHallon14December,where theypremieredthecommissionedwork,AChoralTriptych:Faith,HopeandLoveby Mark Hayes to critical acclaim.

Enrichment programmes for all forms were organised three times in the year to further enrich students' knowledge and experiences in different areas. Activities included talks by professionals and renowned personnel related tomoralandciviceducation,culture,science,environmentalprotectionandhealtheducation.Outingsandfieldtripswerealsoorganisedbyteachers.

Entering into thecentenaryyearof theCollege, theStudentUnion (SU)worked collaboratively with the school community and the Alumni Association andtookpart invariouscelebratoryevents.TheOpenDays inOctoberwasthefirstofficialeventinwhichtheStudentUnionhelpedwiththedecorationoftheschoolcampus,whichfeaturedabigbirthdaycakeatthemainentrance,bringingallschoolmatesandvisitorsa festiveand joyousatmosphere.Toassist theAlumniAssociation, theSUalsotookchargeofco-ordinatingover100 student helpers during the Centenary Gala Dinner in December. The memorableyearendedwiththeStudentUnion’sparticipationastheUniformCatwalk models during the Spectacular in July.

Apart fromthecentenaryevents, theSUalsoput ina lotofeffort tocreatea more flourished and diverse student life which enhanced students' sense ofbelongingtotheSPCCfamily.Forinstance,theSUorganisedavarietyofeventsincludingtheStationeryMegasale,theTeacher-StudentCarnival,talentshowsandother festivecelebrations. Inaddition, the themeof thisyear'sOpinionProgrammewas to investigatestudents'viewson the IT-facilitatedlearning and the use of tablets in class. Thoughtful discussions were held in focus group meetings and the programme allowed students' voices to be heard.

TheSUplacedgreatemphasisontheleadershiptrainingprogramme,hopingto inspireandempower theyoungergeneration. Inaddition, theannualovernight training camp was held at the dormitory for its committee members andclassrepresentatives.Throughregulargatheringsandactivities, theSUaspired to instill in youngsters a sense of leadership and responsibility.

Buildingonthe traditionofacademicexcellenceatSPCC,bothourForm6DSE and IB students achieved admirable results in their respective public examinations. These results reflectedourstudents’diligence,passion forlearningandpursuitofexcellence. Enhancement of teacher professional development and personal wellness

The firstStaffDevelopmentDay (SDD)washeldon26August2015onPositiveEducation.PositiveEducationfocusesonspecificskills thatassiststudentstostrengthentheirrelationships,buildpositiveemotions,enhancepersonalresilience,promotemindfulness,andencourageahealthylifestyle.Our teacherswere introduced to theconceptsandpracticeofPositiveEducation, its importance in theschool'scurriculumandhow it canbeappliedinteachingandlearningatSPCC.On25November2015,weinvitedMrCharlieScudamore,vice-principalofGeelongGrammarSchool,Australia,tosharehisfirst-handexperienceofimplementingPositiveEducationinhisschool.

On15October2015,agroupof7facilitatorsfromStJohnAmbulancegavetalkon"IntroductiontoFirstAid".ThetalkintroducedthebasicprinciplesofFirstAid,andallowedroomto furtherpursueourFirstAidknowledgeandskills.

TopromoteeLearninginschool,weheldaSDDon28January2016,invitingMrLiKaWah,asecondedteachertoEDB,tosharehisexperienceofusingelectronicdevicesintheclassrooms, includingtheuseofstudentresponsesystem to create an interactive and fun learning environment. He also suggested practical ways to have better classroom management when using tablets in classroom.

Representatives fromEnglish,MathematicsandScienceDepartmentsshared their knowledge and experience of using tablets in the classroom on 7 April 2016. They introduced a range of teaching and learning strategies used in lessons.

MrChanKaiTai,aphysiotherapistandanalumnus,gaveusa talkon"CommonProblemsandBasicCareonneck,shouldersandknees"on4May 2016. He introduced ways to alleviate body pains through appropriate exercises and daily practice. Feedback from the participants is encouraging.

Involvement of Parents and Alumni

Parents have always played an indispensable role in a holistic education for children. We are pleased to see staunch support from our parents again

this year. A range of activities have been organised by the Parent-Teacher Association during the year. Please refer to Table 2 for details.

Ourwholeheartedgratitudegoestoouralumnifortheirenthusiasticsupportand contribution to the development of the College. The Alumni Association hasbeengoing fromstrength tostrength,helping to foster thebondingamong our graduates over the decades. Table 3 is a summary of their activities last year.

Donations to Charitable Causes and Fund-raising Campaign

Being aChristian school, we have always attached great importanceto caring and sharing.On theDress Special Day on 8October 2015,we raised a total of $71,648 for theCommunityChest.On 23October2015, 69 staffmembers and students donated blood to theHongKongRedCrossSociety.Twice in the year,we collected donations fromourstudents and staff to be distributed to the following charitable organisations:

The Council of St. Paul's Co-educational College Charitable Trust organised its annual Walkathon at The Peak on 8 November 2015. With the enthusiasticsupportofparents,staff,alumniandstudents,arecordhighof$3.3millionwasraised.

Centenary Celebrations

The year-long celebrations of the School's Centenary was widely applauded agreatsuccess.TheKick-OffCeremonytookplaceat theTreeCourton3October2015. It includedtheTimeCapsulededicationceremony,musicalperformancesattheSchoolHall,andapreviewtourofthenewlyestablishedHeritageandDevelopmentTrail thatcovers theArchiveGallery,ExhibitionGallery,and theMusicandSportsComplexes.More than10,000guestscameto theOpenDaysof theSecondaryandPrimarySchools that tookplaceonthetwoconsecutiveweekendsinOctober.

The Most Rev Dr Paul Kwong presided over the Centenary Thanksgiving Service and Dedication of the School Campus and Chapel on 30 November. It was followed by the Centenary Concert which featured the choral and orchestral groups from both the Primary and Secondary Schools as well

as theAlumniChoir,playing toa fullhouseat theCulturalCentreon14December.

ThencametheGalaDinneron20December,whichwastheSchool’slargestevercelebrationdinnerwith3,500guestsseated in the twohalls in theOldWingandtheNewWingof theHongKongConventionandExhibitionCentre.

TheCentenaryCelebrationsendedonahighnotewith2,000students,staffand alumni participating in the Spectacular at the AsiaWorld-Expo on 9 July 2016,providing joyfulandmemorablemomentsformembersof theSPCCfamily.

The Centenary Year was also marked by the publication of the Centenary Book,anewspapersupplementand featurestories in themainstreamnewspapers,aswellasaseriesofhighlypopularCentenarySouvenirs.

Appreciation

TheCentenaryYearnotonlymarkedamilestoneintheSchool'shistory,butalso provided a platform to involve all members of the SPCC family through the various celebratory events. It reconnected St Paulians across different generations and from around the world and further enhanced the bonding among students and teachers.

The Centenary Celebrations would not have been so successful if not for the leadershipof theCouncil, inparticularCouncilChairmanDrMosesCheng,ChairmanoftheCentenaryCelebrationCommitteeMrChienLee,theAlumniAssociation and our supportive parents.

The Centenary Year was a time of celebrations as much as a time of thankfulness.
