Samsung was the largest enterprise group (knownas Chaebol) in South Korea, and it was also animportant pillar of the S. Korean economy. TheGroup’s revenue accounts for more than 20% of S.Korea’s GDP, and its market value in the stockmarket also accounts for more than 20%. 三星歷史-創業

1938年3月1日三星創始人李秉喆在大邱成立「三星商會」。當時的三星商會只有3萬韓圓的資本,主要從事將浦項乾魚和大邱水果出口到中國北方的業務

李秉喆的解釋是「在韓國『三』代表大、多、強,『星』永遠閃耀著純潔的光芒,代表明亮、永恆與不滅,所以選擇『三星』作為商會的名字。

韓戰爆發後,由於戰爭的破壞,三星物產公司宣告破產。1950年12月15日,「三星物產株式會社」在韓國戰時臨時首都釜山成立。1952年1月,三星物產收入已達60億韓圓,淨利潤20億韓圓,走上了快速成長之路。

small and inexpensive televisions under the

Sanyo brand label.

Over the next 2 decades, Samsung would create

a number of brands for their variety of products.

In 1996, the company made a decision to focus

on one “Master Brand” and migrate to a

premium-brand strategy.

三星歷史-第二次創業

1987年11月,李秉喆去世後,其三子李健熙出任三星第二任會長。1988年3月22日,李健熙在三星50周年慶典上發表要將三星在21世紀到來之前打造成新型國際企業的「二次創業宣言」,並提出「自律經營」、「重視技術」、「尊重員工」的二次創業精神

為提高競爭力,三星將新經營內容分為「質經營」、「資訊化」、「國際化」、「複合化」幾部分,其中質經營是其核心,商品品質、經營品質、人的品質是其三大基礎。

李健熙掌管三星之後,三星開始參與石油化學和汽車產業,使三星成為名副其實的網羅所有行業的「綜合性財閥」,顯示出「李健熙特色」

History- Second Foundation

The founder’s third son Lee Kun-hee introduced the so-called “second foundation,” to mark the 50th

anniversary of the enterprise group in 1988.

The second foundation propelled company to one of the top five electronics players in the world. The tenets of the campaign were: autonomous management, respect for humanity, and focus on technology.

Along with a shift from a quantity driven mindset to a quality driven (for people, products and management), came in the focus on intangibles, such as brand, design, and technology competence.

Note 7的爆炸事件

2016年八月二日,三星Note 7全球風光上市,三週後傳出爆炸事件。九月初,三星宣布首波全球召修;九月底,開始提供新版軟體和手機。

十月初,更新版的Note 7再度陸續傳出冒煙或著火。十月十一日,三星宣布全球停售Note 7,並建議所有用戶立即停止使用這款手機。當天,它的股價一度重挫,市值瞬間蒸發近兩百億美元。

十月十一日晚間,三星終於決定,將永久停產Note 7。

Galaxy Note 7智慧型手機裡面的鋰離子電池到底是出了什麼狀況

鋰離子電池在產業界被廣泛應用,小至助聽器、大到電動車,幾乎所

有系統內都可看到它的影子;三星(Samsung)致力於把一款支援高解

析度顯示、多工處理的消費性裝置內的電池變得最薄、最輕。

當可怕的錯誤出現,顧客以及工程師同行需要知道發生了什麼情況。

顧客需要解釋,整個供應鏈的工程師也需要了解到底發生什麼事

做出停售Galaxy Note 7這個艱難決策的三星高層值得讚揚;根據《華

爾街日報(The Wall Street Journal)》引述分析師的說法,此舉估計將

使三星市值損失170億美元,並可能導致一季28億美元的虧損。

三星可以把手機的費用退還給消費者與經銷商,也應該這麼做,但是

那無法杜絕可能再次發生的問題;在一個缺乏全球性消費者保護機構

的產業,三星需要承擔企業責任,對Galaxy Note 7的電池故障原因進

行調查,並與消費者、科技產業社群分享結果,他們該做正確的事!

三星對此事件能做的最佳補償,就是資訊透明化。

What happened to Galaxy Note 7 batteries

The reason behind the Note 7 fires comes down to irregularly sized batteries, which caused the overheating, as well as other manufacturing problems in a second round of replacement batteries that were rushed out.

Samsung lost $26 billion of market value after Note 7 recall.

The best solution to this crisis could be transparency of information.

Samsung needs to take CSR to investigate the cause of the battery failure of the Galaxy Note 7 and share the results with consumers and industrial sectors.

Samsung was beaten by itself

As the S. Korea’s “biggest enterprise” Samsung was overweening.

Working in Samsung as the top persons have high salary and benefits.

Samsung was not allowed to establish unions, employees' telephones and e-mails were under monitoring, work overtime, and no disagreement.

The consensus and survival logic of management and employees in Samsung was the treatment of blocking the mouth of employees, as long as they make money for the company.

野心大到目中無人 三星被自己打敗了

在韓國它是全國「獨大」,待遇可以是中小企業的好幾倍,更是讓三星老大到目中無人。他們的思考邏輯是:你不幹,還有更多精英排隊,等著要擠進三星的窄門。

韓國能夠進入三星的人,幾乎都是所謂「SKY」(首爾大、高麗大、延世大)這三所名門大學畢業的精英,考進了三星就是出人頭地的表徵,高待遇、高福利,就成了韓國社會人人稱羨的頂尖人物。

三星不准成立工會、員工的電話與電子郵件都受到監控、必須要超時工作、對於上司的指示,只有服從命令去執行,不能有不同意見

用最好的待遇來堵住最優秀精英的嘴巴,只要他們能賣命為公司賺錢就好。這是三星勞資雙方的共識與生存邏輯。

Samsung has numerous competitors and it was unwillingness to “coexist peacefully” with industrial players and “create a win-win situation for each other”, this should be the main reason for the Note7 exploration.

唯我獨尊的「第一主義」已經不適用於當前,李在鎔更需要學會的是謙卑、謙卑、再謙卑,與敵人和平共處,找出互創雙贏的新經營模式。

Unless Samsung redesigns itself and rebuilds its corporate culture and image, it may not possible to reverse the decline caused by Note7's failure.
