  • 你的信實廣大 Great Is Thy Faithfulness

    詩集:生命聖詩,18

    1. 你的信實廣大,我神我天父,

    在你永遠沒有轉動影兒;

    永不改變,父神每天施憐憫,

    無始無終上主,施恩不盡。

    2. 春夏秋冬四季,有栽種收成,

    日月星辰時刻運轉不停;

    宇宙萬物都見證造物主宰,

    述說天父豐盛,信實,慈愛。

    3. 你赦免我罪過,賜永遠安寧,

    你常與我同在,安慰引領;

    求賜今天力量,明天的盼望,

    從天降下恩典,福樂無窮。

    副歌: 你的信實廣大,你的信實廣大,

    清晨復清晨,更經歷新恩;

    我所需用你恩手豐富預備,

    你的信實廣大,顯在我身。

    1. “Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father, There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

    2. Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, Sun, moon and stars in their courses above, Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

    3. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

    Chorus:

    “Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!“ Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided— “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

  • 奇異恩典 Amazing Grace

    詩集:生命聖詩,185

    1. 奇異恩典,何等甘甜,我罪已得赦免;

    前我失喪,今被尋回,瞎眼今得看見。

    2. 浩大恩典,使我敬畏,使我心得安慰;

    初信之時即蒙恩惠,真是何等寶貴。

    3. 經過許多危險網羅,飽受人間苦楚,

    此恩領我平安渡過,他日歸回天府。

    4. 將來在天安居萬年,恩光如日普照,

    好像最初蒙恩景況,讚美永不減少。

    1. Amazing grace! how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch; like me! I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I see.

    2. ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed!

    3. The Lord hath promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures.

    4. When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we first begun.

    3. 完全順服主,萬事安寧,

    我在救主裡,喜樂滿心懷,

    時刻仰望主,儆醒等待,

    滿得主恩惠,浸於主愛。

    副歌: 這是我信息,我的詩歌,

    讚美我救主,晝夜唱和。

    1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine; Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

    2. Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels descending, bring from above, Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

    3. Perfect submission, all is at rest, I in my Saviour am happy and blest; Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

    Chorus:

    This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Saviour all the day long. This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Saviour all the day long.

  • Eulogy of Rev. Dr. John Kao

    Rev. John Kao’s life journey was a witness of God’s

    everlasting love and guidance. Despite suffering poor

    health for most of his adult life, Rev. Kao fervently

    served his Master by preaching the Word and training

    workers for the gospel. Both his spiritual life and his

    ministry flourished, bearing wonderful witness to the

    promise Jesus made to His disciples, that He has “…

    come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

    (John 10:10)

    Rev. Kao was born in Zhejiang, China in 1934 but escaped to Hong Kong as a war refugee during his youth. It was there that he came to know Jesus as his Saviour and responded to His call to full-time Christian service. He was trained at the Bible Seminary of Hong Kong and was a member of its first graduating class. Rev. Kao also received additional training in North America, earning the following degrees: Bachelor of Science (University of Toronto), Master of Divinity (Central Baptist Theological Seminary), Master of Religious Education (Biblical Seminary), and Doctor of Ministry (Trinity International University). As well, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Tyndale University College and Seminary in Toronto for his exemplary Christian service.

    11

  • In 1963 Rev. Kao was sent by Partners International (PI) to return to his alma mater, the Bible Seminary of Hong Kong, to be Lecturer and Dean of Studies. From 1969 to 1974, he did deputational work throughout North America, raising funds on behalf of national workers in their respective mission fields.

    In the winter of 1974, Rev. and Mrs. Kao were commissioned by PI to plant churches amongst the Chinese in Toronto. With six other families the Kaos started the Toronto Chinese Community Church with a five-prong vision: Unity and Love, Discipleship Training, Church Planting, World Missions, and Social Concern. In time this five-prong vision would define the character and culture of this fledging ministry. Thirty-eight years and six building projects later, twelve churches with total Sunday attendance exceeding 8,000 are now part of the Association of Chinese Evangelical Ministries (ACEM) family.

    Rev. Kao was a faithful servant-leader, always serving tirelessly and joyfully, living out the motto that it is more blessed to give than to receive. He was always considerate of the needs of fellow co-labourers in Christ. He promoted collaboration among pastors and churches and had won the respect of all. In spite of ongoing kidney dialysis since 1996, Rev. Kao remained faithful in serving the Lord. In September, 1999, Rev. Kao received a gift from a sister in his congregation and underwent a kidney transplant operation. With his health restored, Rev. Kao accepted the nomination in 2001 to become the General Secretary of the Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelism (CCCOWE). During the five-year term, Rev. Kao visited more than 16 countries and 40 cities, promoting inter-church cooperation and world missions. Under his leadership, the worldwide Chinese Church convened at the 7th Chinese

    Congress on World Evangelization in Macau, with more than 2600 delegates coming from all parts of the world. For the first time in CCCOWE history, a concurrent conference was held to encourage English-speaking leaders of the Chinese Church to join the CCCOWE movement.

    By 2007, his kidney troubles began to resurface. Despite failing health, Rev. Kao continued to persevere in His service. He collaborated with other leaders in promoting theological education, and he served as Chairman of the Executive Board, Association of Canadian Chinese Theological Education, and Principal Emeritus of Canadian Chinese School of Theology at Tyndale Seminary. It was his prayer that his example would inspire others to a life of service.

    Rev. Kao was a loving husband to Esther, a devoted father to Fred and Ernest, a caring grandfather to his seven grandchildren, and a wonderful witness of God’s glory. For many years Rev. Kao had suffered poor health. Before and after undergoing kidney transplant he had received frequent dialysis and blood transfusion. His health began to deteriorate after his hospitalization last year due to pneumonia. He fought his ailing condition courageously and accepted different treatments before finally succumbing to degenerating health condition at Mackenzie Health, with Esther, sons Fred, Ernest and family by his side. While we mourn his passing, we give thanks for his witness in faith and take comfort in the knowledge that he is with our Saviour.

  • Scripture

    Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. (Heb 12:1-4)

    In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: `It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ (Acts 20:35)

    But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Cor 12:9-10)

    And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. (Rev 21:3-7)
