A short walk from Folio, along the tranquil Regent’s Canal, are the elegant Georgian
Squares of Islington. Upper Street is a centre for shops, theatre and restaurants,
while Camden Passage is renowned for its antiques.
The area’s revival began in Hoxton Square and spread to Old Street ‘Silicon’ Roundabout –
hub of the runaway success of Tech City UK. Once an area of former industry, millennium
optimism brought artists, architects and other creative businesses into Hoxton.
The extension of the newly-completedEast London Line
provides additional rail access.
Recent decades have seen Shoreditch become a distinctive area and a deliciously
aromatic one. From the perfumes and blooms of Columbia Road Flower Market,
to the cul inary delights of Bangla’-town and Brick Lane, bustling Spitalfields
Marketis one of London’s most
vibrant destinations.
The City is historic original London, and was established around 50 AD by the Romans.
Today the ‘Square Mile’ has a long-established infrastructure of business and finance that’s
world-renowned, and its skyscrapers area ‘Manhattan’ of monetary monoliths and luxury hotels. Importantly, the number of households in the City is set to rise by
nearly 70% in the next decade – far morethan the London average of 10%.
