Staff News

We say a big thank you and goodbye to Mr Giff

and Claudette Brown. We wish them every suc-

cess in their future endeavours.

We will be welcoming Miss Machicado, Ms Sejpal and Mrs

Davies as class teachers.

Mrs Jenkins and Mrs Chagpar remain on maternity leave.

Mrs Fox will be taking up the permanent senior leader post

of Year Group Leader in Y5.

Thank you!!Thank you!!Thank you!!Thank you!! Dear Parents & Carers It has been an exceptionally challenging year this year for staff. Major changes in education were all introduced in September 2014—a new more challenging curriculum, changes to the assessment system with levels no longer existing and a new SEN Code of Practice. We were also asked to support another school without a Headteacher and a 3 day secondment took place with senior leaders within the school stepping up to lead the school in my absence. Included in all of these challenges were some staffing changes mid year and the school expansion building works finally got under way with disruptions and noise throughout most of the year—thankfully with little impact for children or parents. Our staff have been truly wonderful in not only embracing these challenges and implementing all new systems this year but they have continued to work together to ensure the school continued to improve and for standards to continue to rise. This has been externally validated with our annual teaching & learning review in February showing good progress against school improvement priorities, we were awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark and the Rights Respecting Award Level 2 and finally we were very pleased with our end of KS2 results (see below). I am very proud to lead such an exceptional team and I’m sure you will join me in thanking them all—teachers, support staff, office staff, site staff and lunchtime staff for their dedication, hard work and commitment to our school through-out the year.

Parents/Carers Workshops

Dear Parents & Carers,

We would like to update you on the introduction of the Parents/Carers Workshops this term.

Our first workshop was Cake Decorating which was an overwhelming success, apologies to

those of you who were unsuccessful in getting a place this time round; please look out for our

future workshops. Here are a few of the comments we received back from parents/carers:

“It was such a good experience and I really enjoyed it!” “Brilliant learning and socialising with fellow parents!”

“It was excellent!” With the help of Money Mentor Candice Foster the money workshops were extremely

informative and fun, giving attending parent’s tips on how to help their children learn more

about money matters. Parents played a variety of money games and went away feeling more

confident about helping children learn more about money!

“Very good! lots of variety and choices – Well presented.” “Lots of ideas to teach our kids!” “Very enjoyable and informative.”

Although we have had to cancel our cook off and Indian dancing workshops due to building

works, the good news is parent workshops will be a regular feature next term. We will be

sending you an invitation to come and discuss the kind of workshops you would like to see from

September onwards. Please look out for our up and coming invitation letter. In the meantime,

if you are interested in running a parent workshop, please contact me via the school office.

Thank you

Claudette Brown & Mrs Sachania
