time, just a little planning and

diligence

▪ Getting an early warning from smoke alarms is going to

be your best asset in an emergency situation.

▪ You should check that all smoke alarms in your home are

functional with new batteries at least once every six

months.

get there fast enough you may be able to extinguish it

yourself.

▪ For this reason, you should be able to access a fire

extinguisher within six seconds from any point in your

house.

▪ Talk with the entire family about what to do if there is

a fire.

▪ Make sure everybody is aware of two exits from every

room, including windows. For houses with two stories,

buy escape ladders in case there is no other option.
