Orice plates that ensure stable ow measurement at all times have been widely used in many elds. Although the pressure loss increases, they have such merits as low cost, easy installation/ replacement, and high reliability. Orice plates are classied into the concentric, eccentric, segmental, quadrant, and rectangular types. Flange, corners, D-D/2, and vena contract taps are used to take out the dierential pressure.
1. Concentric Orice PlateThis is the orice plate that a bore is concentric with the pipe center line and upstream square and sharp. An uncertainty is smaller than other type of orice plates for a ow rate which has a high. Reynolds number a concentric square edged orice plate is suitable for the ow measurement of the large diameter pipe.
2. Eccentric Orice PlateThis is the orice plate a bore is internally tangential to the bottom of pipe bore. It is eective for the ow measurement when the uid being mattered carries a considerable amount of sediment or material in suspension.
3. Segmental Orice PlateThe bore of this orice plate is a segment of a circle of approximately the same Demeter as the internal pipe. It s functions are similar to those of the eccentric orice plate.
4. Quarter Circle Orice PlateThe inlet edge of the bore of this orice plate is rounded o to the form of a quarter circle. This orice plate is principally used for measuring ow rates of low Reynolds Numbers.
5. Square Orice PlateThe square orice plate is used for square pipings. Its functions are similar to those of the concentric square edged orice plate.

The orice ange assembly is made by combining an orice plate and
anges with pressure taps, bolts and nuts, and gaskets. The anges are
equipped with pressure taps. The axes of the tappings are 25.4mm
from the upstream and downstream faces of the plate. The shape of
the gasket seat is classied into the at face (FF), raised face (RF), and
ring type joint (RTJ).

The orice ring assembly consists of an orice plate, ring with pressure taps, and
gaskets.
Orice ring assemblies are suitable for ow measurement of smaller and
medium pipe size at lower pressure. Each assembly consists of one piece of
orice plate and one set of orice ring, and gasket. Corner tappings are used.

An orice block is one of the ow element which is integrated with orice plate and pressure tapping part. It is suitable for high temperature, high pressure and leaky uids. Corner and ange tappings are used.

In comparison with orice plates, the ow nozzle is strong and it allows
the ow rate more than that of the same sized orice.
Therefore, it is suitable for measurement of high-temperature
high-pressure uid. It can measure uid containing a slight amount of
solids with less diculty than orice plates.

In comparison with orice plates and ow nozzles, the venturi tube is
expensive, because it is large and it has a complicated structure.
However, it has many merits such as the extremely small pressure loss,
less tendency of sludge and sediment deposition, high durability, and a
short straight tube that is necessary.
Venturi tube has the classical venturi tube and the venturi nozzle.
Classical venturi tube with a machined convergent and with a
rough-welded sheet-iron convergent are used commonly.

The orice meter run designed with orice plate, orice ange and ow conditioner if necessary. The pipe internal surface is bored and honed to obtain precise ow measurements if required. It is suitable when the uid being metered carries a considerable
amount of sediment or material in suspension, and corrosive uid with
low pressure loss. It is suitable for ow measurement of the liquid
which vaporizes when the temperature raises, and liquid and gas
which solidies when the temperature falls.
To use anged type pressure tappings and a transmitter with a
diaphragm prevents blockage of the pressure tappings. And it is low
pressure loss.
Wedge ow element is similar to a segment orice in that particular
matter or entrained gooses easily pass through the element. It is
possible to measure ow late for a ow rate in the low Reynolds
number. The pressure loss is small. It is suitable for bi-directional ow.
