It may seem like a little thing, but choosing the right font for your invitation is more important than you think. Just like the invitation sets the tone for your event, the font sets the tone for the invitation itself. A sweeping grandiose font like “Bickham Script Fancy” is perfect for a more formal affair, whereas “French Script” suggests a sweet, but more casual event.

When picking your font, it’s best to keep a few things in mind. Script fonts are beautiful, but some are best in small amounts as they can be hard to read when all the text is in a script font. For this reason, we sometimes recommend that you pick a “casual” font that you might like for the majority of your text (particularly if you have a card that has direc-tions or accommodations information). If you’re having trouble deciding, we’re happy to make suggestions.

Fonts with * next to them are best for just names, card headers, etc. Other fonts may be hard to read at small sizes, so if you’d like to see more than one font, we can provide up to two proofs in different fonts.

We call these the “casual” part of the font list, but in truth, some of these fonts can be just as formal as a fancy script.

Trajan, Felix and Mrs. Eaves are great formal fonts on their own or paired with a a fancy script.

If you’re looking to impart a sense of adventure, Blackadder is your font

(doesn’t it just scream the High Seas?). If it’s all about vintage and fun- choose a

carnival style font like Carnivalee, Rosewood, Spring Fair or Ringmaster.
