Best Practice:

• Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.

• Use qualified, professional installers.

• Recommend epoxy grout (most durable, easiest to clean) but:

• Installers must avoid epoxy residue on tile surface (very hard to remove); professional installers have no problem doing this properly.

• Use grout that matches or is only slightly darker than floor tile (per DID)

Verification Phase – Tile Best Practices

Page 25: GM Facility Image Best Practices Webinar 1 GM Facility Image Overview and Best Practices

GM Facility Image Best Practices Webinar25

Best Practice:

• Floor tile install should be done last (after other heavy construction is completed)

• If tile install is NOT last, floor must be covered to protect it.• Require deep cleaning from installer before final “sign off”.• Helps identify any defects

• Follow manufacturer’s specs for tile cleaning• Posted on www.gmfacilityimage.com

• Do NOT place any sealers or finishes on floor tile.• Creates “haze” on tile that is very difficult to remove.• Tile does not need any sealers, etc.

Verification Phase – Tile Best Practices
