Living in a develop country give me opportunies to try something new and go into the most crical part of living. Architecture and design is the part which thought me that various innovaons could be possible to im-prove our living, community and our futufuture. This has leaded me to pursuit architecture as profession. Architec-ture is not only about design a build-ing to meet modern requirements, but I see it as career path where two meet; art and improve human social living. It also ensues from my deep passion for art, my appreciaon of ar-chitecture, and my yearning to be amongst those who create the chang-ing skyline that form our cies. Per-haps when a person is engaged in what his keen interest blossoms, he will never feel red; instead he would feel movated and have an enriching experience.Four years academic study in the Center of Studies for Architecture, Universi Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Ma-laysia has completely enhanced my in-sncve percepon about architec-ture into systemac knowledge and comprehensive understanding. The study of architecture makes me begin to ponder on how to draw using aes-thec elements from fine art such as color, lighng and composion to apply to architecture. Second, the study of basic architectural courses such as history of architecture, architectural science, structure and con-strucon technology make me realize that there are massive possibilies in term of essenal funconality and praccality to improve our living. Study gives me deeper comprehen-sion of architecture, that is, architecture is also part of other cultures which it is subject to other culture’s influence and at the same me it in-fluences other cultures.

I know my future is in design innova-on bringing soluons that will im-prove the local and global environ-ment. I hope my commitment to im-prove the social living within my com-munity will one day be a great suc-cessful.

TheThe definion of museum can go beyond its convenonal meaning. It does not limit to col-lecon of arfacts but it can stand parallel with our day-to day event. It can be define as the showcase of product for every cconsumpon and wear or even future life predicon.

Program Mengubah Desni Anak Bangsa (MDAB) was introduced to Universi Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to help the lower income group families. This generous idea give a beer oppurtunity for all Malaysians to further theis studiesstudies to higher level of educa-on. To further make this idea a reality, the government had planned ahead to provide good facilies for a conduive learning experience.

An integrave project design to improve Malaysian living lifetyle. Considering malaysian needs and mulvultural events, The design smulates extraordinary pro-grams in the neigborhood that will generate not only inside, but ttoward the surrounding of the building

The strategies of my design is to link both outdoor and indoor spaces to maximise flexibility in term of circulation for the user. ComMunal spaces like open garden and park are design to be on most critical part of the site whichwhich are north and south part of the side. The building is design to cross this otdoor spaces and create one main meeting point; an internal boulevard. The over-all plan is design to be as open as possible and flexible at the same time. Partitions and walls are minimized to reduce limitation of circulation inside as well as out-side of the building. Every internal spaces are arranged to to be closed and connected to eac other without limiting the specific circulation and dirction. These will allow a greater flexibility for children spaces

Open Planning allow user to move from one places to another much easier. This is important in designing children’s spaces due to their be-havior which very active and not easy to coordinate

Outdoor and indoor spaces much related in oder to generate children’s learning. Therefor, both out-door and indoor must be linked together

The design idea for the museum is to maximise connection be-tween internal spaces and link to the outdoor spaces. The connec-tion between spaces is obtained through nodes study and impor-tance of each spaces to support the internal programs. Projection of programs is obtained through bubble diagrams and developed by formation of nodes in the spaces. The nodes are then linked to each other to study the interaction of spaces and determine the circulation of user through the spaces.

From one point circulation to the open plan spaces, both are seperated by a linkage that connect from parking area and public spaces like courtyard and park. As you enter the building, the building itself allow visitor to choose either to outdoor programs or indoor programs. However, both programs and not to be totally seperated. The spaces are arranged to be easy to circulate and open plan. As the design objective to give flexibility to the user, these not limiting the needs of the user.

The program design are subdiviced into 5 parts. For program 1,2 and 3, they are design to be near to each other while sep-erate from program 4 and 5. However both parts are connect-ed to the internal linkage between them. This lingkage is impor-tant to provide circulation to an outdoor spaces as well creat multi-interaction between itdoor and outdoor spaces. The overall design concept is achieved through creating mezanine floor and double volume spaces as well as open plan-ning. This allow flexibility in term of movement and programs.

INTRODUCTIONProgramProgram Mengubah Destini Anak Bangsa (MDAB) was in-troduced to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to help the lower income group families. This generous idea give a better oppurtunity for all Malaysians toto further theis studies to higher level of education. Thus, en-hancing their status for a better quality of living. To further make this idea a reality, the govern-ment had planned ahead to provide good facilities for a conduive learning experience regardless of status and fees. The whole idea of this competi-tion is to get fresh and great idea from the student itself to present the best and ideal design for the MDAB project.

The design approaches the needs of having a controlled learning environment, by having a centralised main unit which spreads to two parts of its support systems. The administration is de-signedsigned to be located at the central part of the building for a better control of the whole study environment and circu-lation. The classes are placed in two rows facing each other to implement the idea of a natural interaction and sur-veilance between the stu-dents and staff. The whole design process is inspired by using blockwork system ac-cording to the structural grid for the economical design. The blockwork are self sustain because there will be no need of plastering and paints on the exterior facedes. This will reduce cost durring the building life cycle. This design will cater for future extensions ofof learning spaces. Giving the options of using blockworks (higher aesthetic value) or load bearing concrete system (more economical).

The arrangement of spaces are planned to communi-cate with each other, with the context and the public. Thus providing a transparent planning system yet preserv-ing the privacy of each space and their functions.

Sustainable approaches

The building exterior is one of the part that plays a very important role to gen-erate a convenient space for learning. The design never meant to to be complicated but using a rawraw material and structure as a building facade to enhance the natural sur-roundings. Bu using con-crete block wall cladding as a main structural facade, it allow the building to be blend with the nature as well as low maintenance in the future. In certai part of the building such as entrance lobby and VIP’s lobby, less compartmentation of wallswalls and partitions to let the interior connect indi-rectly to the surrounding. Huge openings are intro-duce to allow greater view towards surrounding to reduce learning stress in the classroom yet it is fil-tered from sun glare by in-troduce shading devices. Earth color is also used to reduce views distraction during learning

To meet design objectives and vision, few strategies are introduced. These in-cluding to keep the user as easy to possible in term of circulation, space ar-rangement, views as well as sustainable building design

Research has been done to study user needs such as public spaces, outdoor spaces, secondary learn-ing spaces and more. Dia-grams show few strategies that have been introduce to achieve design stan-dart.

From the front, as you enter from the main gate, big central courtyard will welcome you and bring you to the simplest flow of circulation. Central link-age bridge is design to be mul-tipurpose space. Besides to connect between two blocks, it can be a students group dis-cussion area as well to enjoy the view of central courtyard.

Focusing on sustainable design, the building is design to used eco material and con-struction. Block work systems, shading devices, open court-yard and simple roof cnstruc-tion is introduced.

Without ignor the impor-tant of building construc-tion, construction study has been done to gener-ate a new method to be proposed in Malaysia. New design generator has been created to make the building be better in terms of programs and the user itself

Have you ever wonder what is going to happen in our earth in next 50 years? Demand to have a good living needs source and every human which use sorce will produce waste. If in 50 years the numbers of people is incincrease, what is going to happen to the waste? A disci-pline acon must be take con-sider since nowdays to ensure the good management of waste in the future. Not only govern-ment the one who responsible to manage the waste, but start from the community itself. Tri-max is a proposal to design a re-cycle centre which brings com-munity closer to each other. The design objecve is to pro-vide educaon and spaces communal acvies in scope waste management. Research shown that waste is not con-sider as waste if it is possible to be recycle. Therefor, possibili-es to recreate things from our waste is possible as long as the community itself being edu-cated to be responsible in waste management. To pro-mote this, various communal acvies must be done in one place. I see Tri-max as an opon for our socity to change their life.

“KUALA LUMPUR: The landfill problem has affected almost everyone in the country. Besides causing social and environmental problems, landfills are also economically detrimental. Local councils are spending between 30% and 80% of their assess-ment collection for waste treatment. And, these councils do nothing more than make the garbage pile up into a seemingly endless problem. The bad manage-ment of most landfills has resulted in several “time bombs”. .

UEM Enviro serves as your complete value chain service for the most efficient and cost effective options for scheduled waste disposal. The proper handling, identification, and recycling/disposal of scheduled waste are some of the most complex issues facing industry today. UEM Enviro’s highly trained staff are qualified to provide safe and efficient solutions for your scheduled waste management needs. Following the hierarchy of reduce, reuse and recycle; we are able to de-velop practical waste management strategies to meet the needs of large and small generators alike. Innovative management methods are designed to satisfy all regulatory requirements, to protect and facilitate your present activities, as well as your future operations.

LOBBYIn Malaysia we produce 19,000 tones of waste every day, and a majority of that ends up in landfills. Malaysia currently has 230 landfill sights and 80% of them will reach capacity within the nextnext two years, and with land for landfill sights being at a premium there is soon going to be a big problem right on our doorsteps. To put in perspective 19,000 tonnes of rubbish,; if you piled it all up it would be as high as 36 Petronas Twin Towers, that’s an awful lot of rubbish to deal with on a daily basis.OurOur task now is to try and reduce the amount of rub-bish going into these land-fills. If everybodydoes their little bit then it amounts up to a lot.
