Tate - also known as Chanbara - is samurai sword fighting as seen in movies and theaters. Learn this style of fighting from a group of experts led by Tetsuro Shimaguchi, the head choreographer in the sword fight scene in the snowy garden in ‘Kill Bill: Volume One’ and the man who played the role of Crazy 88 (Miki) in the film. First, you will learn basic sword fighting movements including drawing, posing and swinging. After watching a breathtaking sword fight by your instructors, you will practice sword fighting.

Kimono is the traditional clothing of Japan. Participants will learn many aspects of the kimono, including how they are made. After the intricate process of kimono dyeing is taught, participants will be able to dye a small piece. Following this, participants dress in yukata (summer kimono) and walk around Ningyocho. There are two options for this program: buying and bringing a set (yukata, belt, and sandals) home or renting a yukata.

Yuzen is a traditional craft and technique used to dye Japanese kimonos and other goods. Only when kimonos are totally hand-drawn and dyed, can they be called yuzen. In this program, you will see the teacher’s beautiful masterpieces and experience the dyeing process. Ms. Kaneko, who has 33 years of experience as a yuzen artist, has donated some of her works to the Belgian Royal Family and has been exhibiting others abroad in cities such as Paris. This is a rare opportunity to learn from a prominent yuzen artist.

The real charm of yuzen lies in the beautiful colors dyed onto silk fabric. You become so enthralled by these colors that you lose track of time.

Sumi-e (ink and wash painting) is a kind of a brush painting done with black ink. It was a popular way of painting, which came from China during the Kamakura mid-period of Japan, brought over by a Zen sect, and is thought to represent the Zen spirit. In this program, you will learn from a teacher who truly enjoys sharing information about Japanese culture. Enjoy talking about traditional culture, while having Japanese green tea and sweets.

Experience sumi-e painting and also try Japanese green tea and confectionery. With these opportunities available at the workshop “Nihon no Kaze”, you can experience many aspects of traditional Japanese culture.

Washi is a type of traditional Japanese paper made by hand. You will learn how to make a traditional kite with the washi that you make. This can be experienced at a washi shop which was established in 1653, and you will learn how to make a kite at the Museum of Kites where 3,000 kites are exhibited, including many precious hand-painted works by kite artists.

You will go to a small, unique museum in the center of Nihonbashi. In this Museum, you will see kites from all over the world as well as traditional Japanese kites from the Edo Period. Please come and experience a part of traditional Japanese culture through kite-making.

Lanterns are traditional lights or lampshades made of paper, and are visible throughout Japan. Among the most well-known, are the big, red paper lanterns that hang in a line from the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) at the entrance of Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. In this program, you will cover more than 150 years of history as you talk with a skilled lantern-maker, who will teach you the history, lantern-making process and calligraphy. After making your own lantern, you will walk through Kaminarimon and Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa.

Taiko drums are considered to be one of the first percussion instruments invented by humans. There are many kinds of drums all over the world, however, Japanese drums are characterized by their deeper sound and how long their sounds reverberate. The tour starts at the Drum Museum where you can observe and touch a collection of drums, which have come from around the world. You will also be able to participate in an intense drumming lesson at the Taiko Center. After the taiko session, you will enjoy a short tour around Asakusa, which is a very popular tourist spot.

When you hear taiko, what is the first thing to come to your mind? A Japanese festival? Half-naked performers with hachimaki (headbands)? Thunder-like beats? Yes, taiko is all of that, however, it is also a means of relaxing and keeping your body in shape whilst playing traditional music and enjoying rhythms that your own imagination create!

Japanese dance is one of the most popular traditional Japanese performing arts, along with Noh and Kabuki. It is a ceremonial dance with sounds of naga-uta (singing), shamisen, and taiko. The costume worn for Japanese dance is kimono, which hides the bodies’ curves and accentuates expression with hands and feet. In this program, you will learn from a teacher who has studied Fujima-ryu (Fujima Style) dance, one of the most representative dance styles among over 120 existing kinds. Through nihon buyo (Japanese classical dance), you will discover one of the many fascinating aspects of Japanese culture.

(1) Responsibility rests with the company operating Agent-Organized Tours (hereinafter referred to as H.E.J.) whose name in fu l l appears below and in i ts tour pamphlets. Clients joining such tours shall conclude an Agent-Organized Tour Contract (hereinafter referred to as the Travel Contract) with H.E.J.H.I.S. Experience Japan Co., Ltd. (H.E.J.)Address: SK Bui ld ing 8F, 6-2-18 Nish i -Shin juku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, 160-0023Tokyo Metropolitan Governor Registered Travel Agency No.2－5877(2) H.E.J. shall provide tour arrangements and itinerary management so that the client receives tour services including transport/accommodations (hereinafter referred to a s " t o u r s e r v i c e s " ) p r o v i d e d b y transportation/accommodation operators during the tour itinerary set by H.E.J.(3) The content and conditions of the contract shall conform to those specif ied for each tour i t inerary, conditions as specified hereunder, the final itinerary handed to clients before departure (hereinafter referred to as the "Final Tour Itinerary"), and Agent-Organized Tours as described in H.E.J.'s general terms and conditions as based on the Travel Agency Law (hereinafter referred to as "General Terms and Conditions of Agent-Organized Tours").

H.E.J. may, after conclusion of the Travel Contract, cancel the tour or revise its contents and services for any of the following reasons: natural calamity or disaster, weather conditions, suspension of services rendered by transport / accommodation / service provider facilities, provision of transportation not based on the original operational plan, governmental orders, or other circumstances beyond H.E.J.’s control. H.E.J. reserves the right to take necessary measures when safe, smooth tour operation in accordance with the itinerary is deemed impossible, or when there is valid reason to believe that the tour cannot continue. In such cases, H.E.J. must explain in a timely manner its inability to function according to the Travel Contract under the circumstances. However, said explanation may be made after revisions are made when conditions demand.

1. If the client has not paid the tour fare by the prescribed date, H.E.J. may cancel the Travel Contract. In such cases, the client shall pay H.E.J. the applicable cancellation charge.2. In any of the following cases, H.E.J. may cancel the Travel Contract;① When it becomes evident that the client does not satisfy the sex, age, qualification, skill or other requirements specified by H.E.J. for application in the tour.② When the client is recognized as unfit to join the tour owing to illness or for other reasons.③ When there is evidence that the client threatens to cause other participants embarrassment or inconvenience, or might otherwise interfere with the smooth performance of the collective activities of the tour.④ When the client’s demands exceed those as stipulated in the Travel Contract.⑤ When the minimum number of participants as stipulated by H.E.J. in the Travel Contract has not been met. In such cases, H.E.J. shall notify the client of tour cancellation no later than four days prior to the eve of departure.⑥ When the necessary conditions as clearly stated at the conclusion of the Travel Contract cannot materialize, such as insufficient snowfall for ski tours, or when there is valid reason to believe that the required conditions cannot be met.⑦ In the event of a natural calamity or disaster, poor weather conditions, civil disturbance, suspension of services related to transportation, accommodations, service provider, etc., governmental orders, or other circumstances beyond H.E.J.’ s control, and when safe, and smooth tour operation according to the itinerary specified in the Travel Contract has become impossible, or there is a valid reason to believe that the tour cannot continue.3.H.E.J. may cancel the Tour Contract for tours after the departure date when the client does not arrive at the designated meeting place, by the stipulated time. Refunds will not be given.

1. If a client cancels the Travel Contract for personal reasons, the following cancellation rates will apply:① If a cancellation request is received by H.E.J. 21 or more days (11 or more days in case of a one day trip) prior to the tour departure date --- No charge② If a cancellation request is received by H.E.J. 8 to 20 days (8 to 10 days in case of a one day trip) prior to the tour departure date --- 20% of the tour fare③ If a cancellation request is received by H.E.J. 2 to 7 days prior to the tour departure date --- 30% of the tour fare④ If a cancellation request is received by H.E.J. the day before the tour departure date --- 40% of the tour fare⑤ If a cancellation request is received by H.E.J. on the day of the tour prior to its start --- 50% of the tour fare⑥ If a cancellation request is received by H.E.J. after the departue time, or in the case of failure to attend --- 100% of the tour fare* A change of the participation date, tour or a reduction in the number of participants will be treated as a cancellation and a new booking, resulting in the above charges.* Cancellation requests sent to H.E.J. after business hours (10:00 - 18:30, Japan Standard Time) will be received and handled the next business day.2. In case of cancellation in booking via travel loan beyond H.E.J.’s responsibility, the above cancellation charges will apply. 3. If a client fails to pay the tour fare by the designated date, H.E.J. will assume the client has canceled as of the following day, and the cancellation charges specified above will apply.

H.E.J. will use the personal information provided only for c o m m u n i c a t i n g w i t h c l i e n t s a n d f o r a r r a n g i n g transportation/accommodation/services in order to provide the services requested by the client. H.E.J. will use the personal information in the following ways:*to provide you with information about our products, services and upcoming campaigns*to ask you about your opinion and impressions after participating in our programs*to ask you to fill out questionnaires*to gather statistical data

This outline of tour conditions represents part of the terms of transaction stipulated in Article 12-4 of the Travel Agency Law, and the contract specifying services rendered for travel and other matters as stated in Article 12-5 of the Law.

TOUR CONDITIONSfor H.I.S. Experience Japan

2-1 Correspondence ContractWhen we receive an application from a credit cardholder (hereinafter referred to as a "member") of a credit company we deal with, based on the conditions of "receiving payment of travel charges, cancellation fees, etc., without the signature of the member" (hereinafter referred to as a correspondence contract), the travel conditions are in the following points:(Some travel agencies may not be able to accept credit cards. The types of cards that are handled vary among travel agencies.)1. A contract shall be based on "travel business-related stipulations that are used for conclusion of a travel contract by Correspondence Means Contract." 2. A contract shall be concluded at the time when we consent in the case of application by telephone, and when we issue a notification of our consent in the case of other communications means. At the time of application, information of the "name of a credit card company, member name, member number, card expiration date," etc., shall be provided. 3. A "card usage date" shall be the day of payment or repayment of travel charge, etc. The card usage date for travel charges shall be the "date when a contract is concluded." The card usage date for cancellation fees shall be "the day cancellation of a contract is requested (when a request for cancellation is made on or after the card usage date for travel charges, repayment shall be made within seven days from the day after the request." 4. When payment cannot be made using the credit card a member applies with due to a credit reason, etc., we shall cancel the Correspondence Contract, and be entitled to the same amount as the cancellation fees mentioned above, as payment for damage caused by a breach of contract. However, this shall not apply if travel charges are paid in cash by a date we designate separately.2-2 Other type of ContractH.E.J may accept applications for travel contracts by telephone, facsimile and other means of communication. In such cases, the client shall submit the total amount of the program fare within 3 days, from the day acceptance of application is confirmed. The Travel Contract shall become valid upon acceptance by H.E.J. and receipt of the program fare.

The following may eventually include items unrelated to the tours you choose. Please note that the items included in the tour fare are only those as specified in the itinerary. In principle, H.E.J. will not make refunds for the below fare even if clients choose not to use the relevant services.・Guide Services: An English-speaking certified tour guide/interpreter for each program・Lecture and lecturer・Meals: Only the meals specified in each itinerary

Clients 12 years of age or more shall be charged adult fare and those aged 6 to 11 shall be charged child fare unless otherwise specified.

(1) In performing its obligations under the terms of its Tour Contract, should H.E.J. cause damage to the client through willful negligence or fault, H.E.J. shall be liable for such damages. However, this only applies if the damage report is made within 2 years reckoned from the day following the occurence of the damage.(2) H.E.J. shall compensate for damage to baggage as stated above, provided that said damage is reported within 14 days counting from the day after the occurence, up to a maximum of 150,000 yen per person. Not applicable when damage is caused intentionally by H.E.J. or through serious negligence.(3) H.E.J. shall not be liable for damages incurred by clients as stipulated in Provision 1 hereinabove if any of the following reasons apply:① Natural disaster, war, civil unrest, and alteration or cancellation of tour itinerary due to such causes② Accidents during transportation / accommodations / service provided, damage by fire③ Orders of either Japanese or foreign goverments, immigration regulations, isolation resulting from infectious diseases, and tour itinerary alteration or cancellation owing to such causes④ Accidents occuring during the client's free activities⑤ Food poisoning⑥ Theft⑦ Delays, stops, changes of schedule and route in relation to transportation facilities, and tour itinerary alterations and/or shortened stays at destinations due to such causes

8.Liability of H.E.J. and Exemptions

1. H.E.J. shall require the client to indemnify H.E.J. for losses sustained due to a client's willful negligence, fault, conduct against public order and good manners, or breach of provisions in the H.E.J. Organized Tour Contract.2. The client is required to make every effort to utilize information acquired from H.E.J. and to understand the details of his/her rights/responsibilities as well as the details of tour conditions. 3. After the start of the tour, if a client should find that the tour service provided is different from that specified in the tour contract , the c l ient is requi red to repor t the discrepancy to H.E.J. or Arrangement Agents for H.E.J. or Tour Service Providers immediately.

9. Liability of Client

The Company applies the provisions of this Chapter with respect to the conclusion of an Agent-Organized Tour Contract for which a Party/Group of more than one traveler, traveling together following the same itinerary, has applied after nominating a responsible representative (hereinafter referred to as "Person Responsible for Contract").Except in those cases where a special agreement has been concluded, it shall be deemed that the Person Responsible for Contract has all power of agency for the conclusion of an Agent-Organized Tour Contract for Travelers constituting the Party/Group concerned. H.E.J. will conduct transactions concerning the travel business for that Party/Group with the said Person Responsible for Contract.

10. Party/Group Contract and Person Responsiblefor Contract

Regardless of whether or not H.E.J. assumes liability, H.E.J. shall pay compensation and monetary tokens of sympathy, as specified under the special provisions of the General Terms and Conditions of H.E.J. Organized Tours Contract, for the death or certain damages to body incurred by the clients in the course of the organized tour. In case of H.E.J. assuming liability for damages under the provisions in the aforementioned paragraph, the amount to be paid thereunder shall be reduced by the amount equal to the compensation paid by H.E.J. under the provision of the special compensation.H.E.J. reserves the right to cancel or alter the travel contract pursuant to its General Terms and Conditions for tours.

11. Special Compensation

All the tour fares are effective from June 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009 unless otherwise specified in the tour description.
