GRAFIČKI SVIJET HUGA BESARDAGrafički opus belgijskog umjetnika Huga Besarda is ­kazuje iznimnu vještinu i virtuoznost grafičkoga teh nič­ kog umijeća. Besard predstavlja svoj jedinstveni gra ­fički svijet stvoren uporabom sve vre men­ ske te matike života i smrti, kao i citatima i mo ti vima iz religije, mitologije i sve ljud sko­ ga po z natog nam svijeta. Besardov rad temelji se na tradiciji fla man ­ske umjetnosti i slikarstva u uporabi moti­va iz razitog realizma i u formama diptiha i tri p tiha. Novo pak suvremeno značenje upi ­suje se u gore spomenute tradicionalne for me i teh nike, dajući grafičkim listovima eko loške i moralne poruke. Grafike Huga Besarda pre ­pune su mo tiva i značenja te nam svaki pogled, pa i o naj povr šni, otkriva novu perspektivu bilo da smo za di vljeni fi noćom grafičkog rukopisa bilo da pronalazimo novuznačenjsku razinu slike koju prije nismo zapažali. Bogatstvo grafičkog izraza Huga Besarda temelji se na simbiozi anatomske preciznosti njegovih grafika i njegovu nevjerojatnu shvaćanju biti i bitnosti suvremenih ekoloških problema, koji se otkrivaju putem poruka koje prate svaki pojedini grafički list i njegovim odnosom s promatračem, gdje nam ostavlja dovoljno slobode da sami otkrijemo i djelujemo u skladu s porukom.Snaga i važnost grafičkog opusa Huga Besarda vidljiva je u velikom utjecaju koji je njegova izložba, održana tijekom petog bijenala Splitgraphic 2011, imala na publiku i umjetnike u Splitu, čineći je jednom od najviše posjećenih, komentiranih i hvaljenih izložbi te godine, te se nadamo da će isti takav uspjeh imati i u Zagrebu.

HUGO BESARD’S GRAPHIC WORLDHugo Besard’s graphic oeuvre shows an extraordinary mastery and virtuosity of graphic art. Besard presents his unique graphical world created by using omnipresent themes of life and death, as well as citations and motives that are a part of our religion, mythologies and human world, as we know it. Besard’s work rests upon his own tradition of Flemish art and painting in motives that abound in realism and forms of diptychs and triptychs. However, new contemporary meaning is written in these above­mentioned forms by permeating the prints with ecological and moral messages. Hugo Besard’s prints are layered with themes and meanings, each glance or look discovers a new perspective whether you are astonished with the exquisiteness of graphic handwriting or you find a new significance to the image that you have not noticed before.

Hugo U. Besard rođen je 24. veljače 1955. u Et ­ter beeku (Bruxelles, Belgija). Od 1995. pro fesor je grafike na Aka demiji primi jenjenih umjetnosti Sve učilišta u Antwer penu (ART E SIS).1984–1995: Profesor grafike na Kraljev skoj aka­de miji primijenjenih umjetnosti u Ant wer penu (KASKA).1984–1997: Vladin dužnosnik na Viso kom nacional nom institutu Flandrije (NHISK).1979–1982: Laureat Visokog nacional nog instituta u Antwerpenu (NHISK).1974–1979: Školuje se na KASKA­i, Odjel slobodne grafike.
