NEWSLETTER November 2018

It has come to Chairman’s attention that persons who

are unhappy with decisions taken by the Executive

Committee (Excom), target either individual members

or the Estate Manager regarding these decisions.

All proposals with merit are put on the agenda and

are accepted or discarded with a consensus decision

by Excom. Also note that the Estate Manager merely

implements these decisions of

Excom as part of his duties.

Should you have a problem with

an Excom decision, you are advised

to put it in writing to Status-Mark. If

necessary, you may be called upon

to put your case before Excom in

person.

Bestuursbesluite Management decisions

Dit het onder die Voorsitter se aandag gekom dat

mense wat ongelukkig is oor besluite wat die

Bestuurskomitee (BK) neem, individuele lede van

die BK óf die Landgoedbestuurder hieroor teiken.

Alle verdienstelike voorstelle word op die sakelys

geplaas en met ‘n konsensusbesluit van die BK

aanvaar of verwerp. Let ook daarop dat die Land-

goedbestuurder hierdie besluite van die BK maar

net as deel van sy pligte uitvoer.

Indien u ‘n probleem met ‘n bestuurs-

besluit het, word u aangeraai om u

beswaar aan Status-Mark op skrif te

stel. Indien nodig, kan u gevra word om

u saak persoonlik aan die Bestuurs-

komitee te stel.

Rubbish removal This is done on Mondays. Please put your bags out on the pavement before 07:00. Black bags and blue recycle bags are pro-vided regularly. Enquire at the office about your first bag issue. Please dump your garden refuse yourself in the skips adjacent to the shed (in the corner near the gate).

Mail

Post boxes are available at the entrance

gate. Apply at the Estate Manager’s office.

Alternatively, you will have to rent a post

box at the Hartenbos Post Office.

Vullisverwydering

Dit word Maandae gedoen. Sit asb u

sakke voor 07:00 buite op die sypaad-

jie. Swart sakke en blou sakke vir her-

winbare vullis word gereeld voorsien. Doen vir

u eerste sakke navraag by die kantoor. U moet

u tuinvullis asb self in die houers by

die stoor (in die hoek naby die hek)

gaan gooi.

Pos

U moet by die Landgoedbestuurder

aansoek doen om ‘n posbus by die

ingangshek te bekom. So nie, moet

u by die poskantoor in Hartenbos

‘n posbus huur.

Die wildevy-wortelstelsel... dit spreek boekdele.

The wild fig root system... I rest my case. Die wildevy-boomlaning regs langs die toegangspad.

Bome langs toegangspad

Die padkontrakteur, Henra, het ons aandag

daarop gevestig dat die boomwortels langs die

toegangspad die padoppervlak begin beskadig.

Wildevy-bome is bekend vir hul indringende,

spreidende wortelstelsels, maar blykbaar kon

die ontwikkelaar destyds nie ander bome kry

wat so naby die see aard nie.

As gevolg van hierdie probleem sal die bome

op ‘n stadium uitgehaal moet word.

Trees next to access road

The road contractor, Henra, made us aware of the

fact that the roots of the trees next to the access

road have started to damage the road surface.

Wild fig trees are known for their invasive, sprea-

ding root systems, but apparently the developer

could, at the time, find no other trees that flourish

so close to the sea.

Because of this problem, these trees will have to be

removed in due time.

‘n Besoeker aan Monte Christo het onlangs opgemerk

hoe pragtig ons tuine daar uitsien.

Ek wil u graag voorstel aan die twee mense wat as

lede van die Tuine Subkomitee vir die tuine van die

Landgoed mede-verantwoordelik is.

George Forssman en sy pragtige vrou,

Ancilla, het baie hard gewerk – meestal

in die blakende son – om die tuine

rondom die hek en teenaan Blue

Crane-weg tot stand te bring.

George, ‘n boorling van Potgietersrus,

het ‘n BSc Landbougraad aan die Univer-

siteit van Pretoria verwerf en waarna hy

onder meer as landbou-ekonoom gewerk en as

Handelsattaché in Duitsland gedien het.

Ancilla, wat in Pretoria skoolgegaan het, het ‘n

Sekretariële Diploma aan die Pretoriase Technikon

verwerf. Sy het ‘n besondere belangstelling in tuin-

ontwerp en hou ook baie van blommerangskikking.

Hierdie egpaar se kundigheid en passie is ‘n besliste

bate vir Monte Christo. Dankie, julle twee. Dra asb

ook die kompliment aan julle span helpers oor.

A visitor to Monte Christo recently remarked on how

beautiful our gardens are.

I would like to introduce you to the two people who

serve on the Gardens Subcommittee and is co-

responsible for the gardens of the Estate.

George Forssman and his beautiful wife, Ancilla, worked very hard – mostly in the fierce sun – to es- tablish the gardens at the gate and along Blue Crane road. George grew up in Potgietersrus and obtained his BSc (Agriculture) degree at the University of Pretoria. After graduating, he worked, amongst others, as an agricultural economist and served as Trade Attaché in Germany.

Ancilla, who went to school in Pretoria, obtained a

Secretarial Diploma at the Pretoria Technikon. She

has a special interest in garden design and loves

flower arranging.

The knowledge and passion of this couple is a true

asset to Monte Christo. Thank you to both of you.

Please convey the compliment to your team of helpers

as well.
