عبد الله بن زيد عن النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم Chapter: The statement of the Prophet (s) to the Ansar: “Be patient till you meet me at Al-Haud (Al-Kauthar)”This was narrated by Abdullah b. Zayd from the Prophet (s).

ثنا شعبة قال سمعت ثنا غندر حد ار حد د بن بش ثنا محم 3792 - حدقتادة عن أنس بن مالك عن أسيد بن حضري ريض الله عنهم أن رجال من األنصار قال يا رسول الله أال تستعملني كام استعملت فالنا قال ستلقون

بعدي أثرة فاصربوا حتى تلقوين عىل الحوض Narrated Usaid bin Hudair: A man from the Ansar said, "O Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)! Will you appoint me as you have appointed so-and-so?” The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "After me you will see others given preference to you; so be patient till you meet me at the Hawd (i.e. Lake of Kauthar). عن أسيد بن حضري أن رجال من األنصار خال برسول الله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلصفقال أال تستعملنى كام استعملت فالنا فقال إنكم ستلقون بعدى أثرة فاصربوا حتى تلقوىن عىل الحوض [صحیح مسلم:[4885

It has been narrated on the authority of Usaid b. Hudair that a man from the Ansar took the Messenger of Allah aside and said to him: Will you not appoint me (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)governor as you have appointed so and so? He (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: You will surely come across preferential treatment after me, so you should be patient until you meet me at the Cistern (Haud-i-Kauthar).- Whenwelookatthevariousnarrationsofthesamehadithwelearndifferentdetails.SohereweseethatthemanaskedtheProphet(s)privately

In situations where there is bias, after Sabr the second thing to do: Give others’ their rights and ask Allah for yours

عن عبد الله قال قال لنا رسول الله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص إنكم سرتون بعدي أثرة وأمورا تنكرونها قالوا كم [صحيح البخاری: 7052] هم وسلوا الله حق وا إليهم حق فام تأمرنا يا رسول الله قال أد

Narrated `Abdullah, he said: Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said to us, "You will see after me, others will be given

preference over you, and (you will see) other matters that you will disapprove of." They asked, "What do you order us to do, O Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)? (under such circumstances)?" - TheseweretheAnsarwhoarebeingtoldtobepatient:TheAnsarwhoworkedsohardforthecauseofISlam-theybeganthework,theysacriLicedtheirlivesandproperties-womenbecamewidowsandchildrenwereorphaned-andnowwithconquestsotherpeoplewerebeinggivenbigpostions.Sometimesithappenswithusalsothatweworksohardandotherpeoplecomeandreapthefruit,theycomeandenjoyit.Andweareexcludedfromit.Sowhenyouareinthissituationwhatshouldyoudo?Observepatient,fulLilyourobligationsandaskAllahforyour

rights.Atsuchtimes,youmaywanttoquit,giveup…thatthereisnopointforyoutocontinueandkeepworking…shaytanharmstheservanthere.

- Asparentsalso,youworksohardtolookafteryourchildren:yourblood,sweat,money…andwhentheygrowupandgetmarriedtheyforgetyou…thishappensinmanythingsinlife:family,business,etc.Youstartthework,youmakeitgrowandthenyouarekickedoutofit.Similarlyyoumayhavebeenamajorpartofanorganization,youbuiltitsfoundationandthenyouareremoved,pushedout….youhavenopartinitanymore.SotheProphet(s)’sadvice:muchworsethingswillhappen,sobepatient,dontloseheart.WhatgreatwisdomoftheProphet(S)-hepreparedthiscompanionandtherestoftheAnsarforthebiastheyweregoingtofaceinthefuture.HEsaid,bepatient:youdoyourjob,fulLillyourobligationandAllahwillnotwasteyourreward-someetmeattheHAwd!Whatagreatrewardforthosewhoarepatient.

فاصربوا حتى تلقوين عىل الحوض

‘..so be patient till you meet me at the Tank (i.e. Lake of Kauthar)…..

The Prophet (s)’s meeting with the Ansar at Hawd Kawthar The first meeting will be at the Hawd

عن النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم أنا فرطكم عىل الحوض [صحيح البخاری: 6575]

Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: I shall be there at the Cistern before you.

إنكم سرتون بعدي أثرة فاصربوا حتى تلقوين عىل الحوض [البخاری: 3163]

Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: "After me you will see others given preference over you in this respect (in which case) you should be patient till you meet me at the Tank (of Al-Kauthar).

Many Ansar at the Hawd أن نبى الله صىل الله عليه وسلم قال إىن لبعقر حوىض أذود الناس ألهل اليمن

أرضب بعصاى حتى يرفض عليهم [صحيح مسلم: 6130] Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: (On the Day of Judgement) I will be in the back part of the Hawd and I would be pushing back the crowd for the people of Yemen and I would strike them away with my staff until the water (of the Haud) would spout forth for them. - PeopleofYemen:Ansar-meaning,todayifpeoplepushyouaway,thentomorrowIwillpushothersawayfromyousothatyoudrinkthewaterofHawd.

The water of the Hawd will flow towards them وهذه كرامة ألهل اليمن يف تقدميهم يف الرشب منه مجازاة لهم بحسن صنيعهم وتقدمهم يف االسالم واألنصار من اليمن فيدفع غريهم حتى يرشبوا كام دفعوا يف الدنيا عن النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم أعداءه واملكروهات ومعنى

يرفض عليهم أي يسيل عليهم [صحيح مسلم برشح النووي]

The statement يـرفـض عـليهم means, that the water will flow and come towards them.

Imam Nawawi has written in the explanation of Sahih Muslim, This honour is for the people of Yemen, so that they are given preference in drinking water, because they quickly embraced Islam, and offered their best services. The Ansar are from the people of Yemen. The Prophet (s) will move other people away so that they will be able to drink, just like in this world these people defended the Prophet (s) from his enemies, and protected him from hardship. - HawdKawthar:Whatisitlike?- EveryProphetwillhaveahawdonthedayofJudgment,andeachwillboastabouthowbusyitwillbe,andIhopethatminewillbethemostfrequentedone.Hisminbarwillbeuponthehawd,andhewillarrivetherebeforethepeopletowelcomethem.SomeonerequestedtheProphet(S)forintercesiiononthedayofJudgment,hesaidcomeLindme-wherewillIfoundyou?SearchformeattheBridge,orbytheScalesortheHAwd-Iwillbeinoneofthesethreeplaces.ThewidthofhawdkawtharislikethedistancebetweenSan’aaandMadina.Itssoilisofpuremusk,itspebblesarepearlsandbothitsbordersareoftowersofpearls.Therearetwostreamsoneofsilverandoneofgoldreachingitcomingfromparadise.ITscupsonitssidesmorenumerousthanthestarsinthesky-itswatercolder

thanice,morefragrantthanmusk,sweeterthanhoneyandwhiterthanmilk.Whoeverwilldrinkonesipofitwillneverbecomethirsty,andhisfacewillneverbecomegloomy.Whowilldrinkit?THosewhoholdontotheSunnah,whostriveinthewayofAllah.Peoplefrequetingitmost:fuqaraamuhajireen…andthosewhoinventthingsinthereligionwillbedeprivedfromiteventhoughttheywilltellhim(s)abouttheirlineage…andtheonewhorejectsitsexistencewillnotdrinkfromit.

- Huge,beautiful,thirstquenchingwater….forwho?TheonewhoremainspatientinthewayofAllah,remainsLirmonQuranandsunnah…theAnsarwillcomeandtheProphet(s)willmakewayforthem,pushingotherpeopleasidefortheirsake.

ثنا شعبة عن هشام قال ثنا غندر حد ار حد د بن بش ثني محم 3793 - حدسمعت أنس بن مالك ريض الله عنه يقول قال النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم لألنصار إنكم ستلقون بعدي أثرة فاصربوا حتى تلقوين وموعدكم الحوض

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said to the Ansar, "After me you will see others given preference over you; so be patient till you meet me, and your promised place (of meeting) will be the Tank (i.e. Lake of Kauthar).- Uthrah:Topreferoneselfoverothers,asinnotgivethemtheirrightandtaketheirs

The Prophet (s)’s special advice to Ansar to observe patience Patience regarding worldly matters

عـن عـمرو بـن عـوف وهـو حـليف بـني عـامـر بـن لؤي وكـان شهـد بـدرا مـع رسول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص أن رسول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص بـعث أبـا ـر عـليهم الـعالء بـن الحرضمي عـبيدة بـن الجراح إىل البحـريـن يأيت بجـزيـتها وكـان الـنبي ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص هـو صـالـح أهـل البحـريـن وأمول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص فلام وا صالة الفجـر مـع رسـ وافـ فـقدم أبـو عـبيدة مبـال مـن البحـريـن فـسمعت األنـصار بـقدوم أيب عـبيدة فـم رسـول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص حني رآهـم ثـم قـال أظـنكم سـمعتم أن أبـا عـبيدة صىل رسـول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص انرصف فـتعرضـوا لـه فـتبسوالـله مـا الـفقر أخىش عـليكم ولـكني ـلوا مـا يرسكم فـ وا وأم ء مـن البحـريـن قـالـوا أجـل يـا رسـول الـله قـال أبرش قـدم بيشنـيا عـليكم كام بسـطت عىل مـن كـان قـبلكم فـتنافـسوهـا كام تـنافـسوهـا فتهـلككم كام أخىش عـليكم أن تبسـط الـد

أهلكتهم [سنن ابن ماجة:3997]

It was narrated from ‘Amr bin ‘Awf, who was an ally of Banu ‘Amir bin Lu’ai and was present at (the battle of) Badr with the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص), (he said) that the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) sent Abu ‘Ubaidah bin Jarrah to Bahrain to collect the Jizyah, and the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) had made a treaty with the people of Bahrain, and he appointed as their governor ‘Ala’ bin Hadrami. Abu ‘Ubaidah came with the wealth from Bahrain and the Ansar heard that Abu ‘Ubaidah had come, so they attended the Fajr prayer with the Messenger of Allah had prayed, so (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) When the Messenger of Allah .(ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)they came to him. The Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) smiled when he saw them, then he said: ‘I think you have heard

that Abu ‘Ubaidah has brought something from Bahrain?’ They said: ‘Yes, O Messenger of Allah.’ - Howhonesttheywere!He said: ‘Be happy and hope for that which will make you happy. By Allah, I do not fear poverty for you, rather I fear that you will enjoy ease and plenty like those who came before you, and that you will compete with one another as they did, and you will be destroyed as they were.’”- MeaningwithyourImanifyouareinpovertythenthereisnoharm,butifyouhavewelaththenitwilldistractyou,corrputyou:itwillleadyoutocompetitioninincrease,jealousy,pride,etc.

Patience in political matters عـن أنـس بـن مـالـك قـال : أىت أسـيد بـن حضري األشهـيل الـنقيب إىل رسول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص فذكـر لـه أهـل بـيت مـن األنـصار فـيهم حـاجـة قـال وقـد كـان قـسم طـعامـا فـقال الـنبي ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص تركـتنا حـتى ذهـب مـا يف أيـديـنا فـإذا سـمعت بيشء قـد جـاءنـا فـاذكـر يل أهـل الـبيت قـال : فـجاءه بـعد ذلـك طـعام مـن خيرب شعري ومتـر قـال وجـل أهـل ذلـك الـبيت نـسوة قـال فـقسم يف الـناس وقـسم يف األنـصار فـأجزل وقـسم يف أهـل ذلـك الـبيت فـأجزل فـقال لـه أسـيد بـن حضري يـشكر لـه جزاك الـله يـا نـبي الـله عـنا أطـيب الجزاءـ أو قـال خريا ـ فـقال ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص وأنـتم معرش األنـصار فجزاكـم الـله أطـيب الجزاء ـ أو قـال خريا مـا عـلمتكم

أعفة صرب وسرتون بعدي أثرة يف األمر والعيش فاصربوا حتى تلقوين عىل الحوض [صحيح ابن حبان:7277]

Anas b. Malik reported, that Usayd b. Hudayr al-Ash-hali was the naqeeb (leader, representative - just like 12 leaders were appointed for the bani Israel) and he came to the Prophet (s) and told him about a household of the Ansar who was suffering from extreme hunger. When the Prophet (s) distributed the food, he said, You did not say anything to us and now nothing is left from what was

in our hand, so now the next time you hear that there is some food then remind me of that family. He said, after that some food from Khayber was brought to the Prophet (s) that constituted of some barley and dates. He said that family was mostly of women. So the Prophet (s) distributed that food amongst the people, the Ansar and gave a lot, and also to that family. Usayd b. Hudayr thanked the Prophet (s) and said, جـزاك اهلل يـا نـبي اهلل May Allah reward you o Prophet of Allah on عـنا أطـيب الجـزاءour behalf, abundantly and purely. So he (s) said, And you too o assembly of the Ansar, may Allah reward you with purest reward. All I know about you is that you refrain from asking and are amongst the patient, and after me you will see others being preferred in positions of power and life, so be patient until you see me at Hawd Kawthar.

Patience over illness رة،قـال:جـاءت الحـمى إىل الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم، فـقال: ابـعثني إىل آثـر أهـلك عـندك فـبعثها إىل عـن أيب هـريـاألنـصار، فـبقيت عـليهم سـتة أيـام ولـيالـهن، فـاشـتد عـليهم فـاتـاهـم يف ديـارهـم، فـشكوا ذلـك إلـيه، فـجعل الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم يـدخـل دارا دارا، وبـيتا بـيتا، يـدعـو لـهم بـالـعافـية. فلام رجـع تـبعته امرأة مـنهم،فـقالـت والـذي بـعثك بـالـحق إين ملـن األنـصار وإن أيب ملـن األنـصار، فـادع الـله يل كام دعوت لـألنـصار قـال:مـا شـئت؛ إن شـئت دعوت الـله أن يـعافـيك،

وإن شئت صربت ولك الجنة". قالت: بل أصرب، وال أجعل الجنة خطرا [صحيح األدب املفرد : 387 ]

AbyHurayrah (r) reported that fever came to the Prophet (s) (in a person) and the person said, Allow me to stay with your family so the Prophet (s) sent him to the Ansar until he remained with them for six days and nights. So they also got high fever, and they complained to the Prophet (s), so he (s) went into every house and every

room and prayed for well-being for them. When the Prophet (s) was returning, a woman came after him and said, By the One who has sent you with the truth, am I from the Ansar and is my father from the Ansar also? The way you prayed for the Ansar, please for me also. The Prophet (S) said, What would you like? If you like I will pray for you to be safe from this fever, and if you want you can be patient and you will have paradise. She said I will be patient and not put my Jannah at risk. - -Thisdoesnotmeanweshouldnotwantrelieffromillness,butthatweshouldobservepatiencewiththetreatmentalso.

Patience over the loss of children عـن زهـري بـن عـلقمة ريض الـله عـنه قـال جـاءت امرأة مـن األنـصار إىل رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم يف ابـن لـها مـات فـكأن الـقوم عـنفوهـا فـقالـت يـا رسـول الـله قـد مـات يل ابـنان مـنذ دخـلت يف اإلسالم سـوى هـذا فـقال الـنبي صىل الـله

عليه وسلم والله لقد احتظرت من النار بحظار شديد [صحيح الرتغيب والرتهيب:2004 [

Zuhayr b. Alqamah (r) reported that a woman from the Ansar came to the Prophet (s), regarding her son who had died and her people were very hard on her (that why are you going to tell the Prophet (s)?) so she said, Allah’s Messenger (s), since I embraced Islam, besides this son I have also lost two other sons, so the Prophet (s) said, By Allah, you have a strong shield against the fire. - Soifapersonispatientoversuchlossthenwithhispatience,heissafefromthepunishmentofhell

- Soregardingmanyhardships,thePRophet(s)advisedandencouragedtheAnsartoobservepatience.

حديث:138

ثنا سفيان عن يحيى بن سعيد سمع أنس بن د حد ثنا عبد الله بن محم 3794 - حدمالك ريض الله عنه حني خرج معه إىل الوليد قال دعا النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم األنصار إىل أن يقطع لهم البحرين فقالوا ال إال أن تقطع إلخواننا من المهاجرين

ا ال فاصربوا حتى تلقوين فإنه سيصيبكم بعدي أثرة مثلها قال إمNarrated Yahya bin Sa`id: That he heard Anas bin Malik when he went with him to Al-Walid, saying, "Once the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) called the Ansar in order to give them the territory of Bahrain but they said, 'No, unless you give to our emigrant brethren a similar share.' On that he said 'If you do not agree to it, then be patient till you meet me, for after me others will be given preference to you.”'- د(خ)-- بنمحم أبوجعفرعبداهلل املسندي- WAleed….khlaeefahintheUmawiyy/Umayyadera- WhentheMuhajirinweregiven,theAnsarwerenotgiven-theyobjectedbutlaterwereLine.Heretheyarebeinggiven,buttheyarenotwillingtoacceptuntiltheMuhajireenarealsogiven,becausetheirqualityis:‘Theypreferothersoverthemselveseventhoughtheyarethemselvesinneed’

Other chains of narration The Ansar’s immediate response, ‘we will be patient’

عن أنس بن مالك قال دعانا رسول الله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص ليكتب لنا بالبحرين قطيعة قال فقلنا ال إال أن تكتب إلخواننا من

المهاجرين مثلها فقال إنكم ستلقون بعدي أثرة فاصربوا حتى تلقوين قالوا فإنا نصرب [مسند احمد: 12706]

Anas (r) reported that once the Messenger of Allah (s) called us in ordert o distribute amongst us the wealth that had arrived from Bahrayn. But we said that first our Immigrant brothers share should be separated. Upon seeing this gnerosity the Prophet (s) said, After me you will see others being preferred over you, but you should be patience until you meet me. The Ansar said, we will definitely be patient.

فإنكم ستجدون أثرة شديدة فاصربوا حتى تلقوا الله ورسوله فإىن عىل الحوض قالوا سنصرب.[صحیح مسلم:2483]

You would find marked preference (in future), so you should show patience till you meet Allah and His Messenger and I would be at the Haud. They (the Ansar) said: We would show patience.

The humility of Anas (r) إنكم ستجدون بعدي أثرة شديدة فاصربوا حتى تلقوا الله ورسوله فإين فرطكم عىل الحوض قال أنس فلم نصرب. [مسند

احمد:12696]

You will find others favored over you greatly, so be patient till you meet Allah and His Messenger. I am your

predecessor at the Lake-Fount . . . " Anas said: We could not tolerate it.- -Meaning,wetriedbutwerenotabletoobsrveitwithexcellence

- Youcannotgainilmwithphysicalcomfort.- Sometimeswithsiblingsalso-youLindsomebeingpreferredoveryoubyyourparents-butifyoustartbackbitingaboutyourownparentsyouaredestroyingyourdeeds

- TheProphet(s)’swisdom,howheLinishedthenegativesentimenthere.Advisedthemtoobservesabrandhopeforajrintherehereafter.Whenweentertainsuchnegativity,self-pitywefallinaditch,weharmourselves

- ThequalityoftheAnsar:notwillingtotakeanythinguntiltheirbrothersaregivenwhattheyarebeinggiven:foronecannotbeabelieveruntilhelovesforhisbrotherwhathelovesforhimself

- PAtienceisnotweakness,itsstrengthbecauseyouareLightingyourself

- Thesisterissharingherexperience-thatwithherfriendshewasdiscussingthisproblem:howintheirfamiliestheyarebeingpushedawayandtheyfeelthatothersaretakingtheirrights…sosheisthankingUstadhahandshecannotwaittilltheendofclasssoshecansharethiswithherfriendalso

- Manytimeswearestrivingbutweforgetthatthereisalsorewardforthatstriving-sorememberthatrewardsoyoucancontinue

حديث:139

ثنا أبو إياس معاوية بن قرة عن ثنا شعبة حد ثنا آدم حد 3795 - حدأنس بن مالك ريض الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم ال عيش إال عيش اآلخرة فأصلح األنصار والمهاجرة وعن قتادة عن أنس عن النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم مثله وقال فاغفر

لألنصار Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "There is no life except the life of the Hereafter; so, O Allah! Improve the state of the Ansar and the Muhajirun." And Anas added that the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) also said, "O Allah! Forgive the Ansar. (and the muhajireen)”- He(s)saidthiswhilediggingthetrench,hemadethisduaforthembecausethiswasatimeofextremebittercold,hardship,hunger-peoplpewerediggingthetreachesandcarryingthemudontheirbacks-

therewerehugerocksinthewayalso-buttheydidnotgiveup,whenwefacealittlebitofcold,ifthetemperaturedropsslightlywethinkofjustlisteningtotheclassfromhome

عن أنس أن رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم قال وهم يحفرون الخندق اللهم ال خري إال خري اآلخره فأصلح األنصار والمهاجره [مسند احمد:13191]

Narrated Anas that when the companions were digging the Trench, the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said اللهم ال خير إال O Allah, there is no good" خـــــير اآلخــــــره فــــأصــــــــــــلح األنــــصار واملـــهاجــــــرهexcept the good of the Hereafter; so confer Your Blessings on the Ansar and the Emigrants."Receiving the Prophet (s)’s dua for working very hard in the way

of Allah in extreme cold and with the help of no servant عن أنس ريض الله عنه يقول خرج رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم إىل الخندق فإذا المهاجرون واألنصار يحفرون يف

غداة باردة فلم يكن لهم عبيد يعملون ذلك لهم فلام رأى ما بهم من النصب والجوع قال اللهم إن العيش عيش دا عىل الجهاد ما بقينا أبدا [صحیح اآلخره فاغفر لألنصار والمهاجره فقالوا مجيبني له نحن الذين بايعوا محم

Narrated Anas: Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) went out towards the Trench and saw the Emigrants and the Ansar digging the trench in the extreme cold morning. - -Youcanrelatewiththisverywell.Wetrytogetalltheoutsideworkdonebeforethewinter:changethe

They had no slaves to do that (work) for them. When the Prophet saw their hardship and hunger, he said, 'O Allah! The Prophet (s) prayed for them for barakah اب عىل مـتونـهم عـن أنـس ريض الـله عـنه قـال جـعل الـمهاجـرون واألنـصار يـحفرون الـخندق حول الـمديـنة ويـنقلون الرتدا عىل اإلسالم مـا بـقينا أبـدا قـال يـقول الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم وهـو يـجيبهم وهـم يـقولـون نـحن الـذيـن بـايـعوا محـمعري فـيصنع لـهم بـإهـالـة ره قـال يـؤتـون مبـلء كـفي مـن الش ره فـبارك يف األنـصار والـمهاجـ ه ال خري إال خري اآلخـ الـلهم إنـ

سنخة توضع بني يدي القوم والقوم جياع وهي بشعة يف الحلق ولها ريح مننت [صحیح البخاری:4100]

Narrated Anas that the Emigrants and the Ansar were digging the trench around Medina and were carrying the mud on their backs while saying, "We are those who have given the pledge of allegiance to Muhammad ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص for Islam as long as we live." The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said in reply to their saying, ـــــه ال خــــــــير إال خــــــــير اآلخـــــــــره فــــبارك فـــــــي الــــــلهم إنـ O Allah! There is no goodness except the" األنــصار واملــهاجــــرهgoodness of the Hereafter; so please grant Your Blessing to the Ansar and the Emigrants." (Anas) said: The people used to bring a handful of barley, and the meal used to be prepared in a smelly fat and it used to

be presented to the people who were hungry, and it used to stick to their throats and had a nasty smell.- Butthisisalltheyhadtoeat,sotheyate.Despitethistheycontinuedtoworkanddidnotgiveup.WelookatwhatworldlybeneLitwecangetfromourworkandnotwherewecanservethedeenbetter.Whatshouldourpriorityalwaysbewhenmakingadecision?WhatwillbeneLitmemoreintheakhirah?Eventhoughitmaybehardformenow.

The Prophet (s) himself carried mud at this occasion and recited poetry while being covered in dust

اب يـوم الـخندق حـتى أغـمر بـطنه أو اغرب بـطنه عـن الرباء ريض الـله عـنه قـال كـان الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم يـنقل الرت

زلـن سـكينة عـلينا قـنا وال صـلينا فـأن وال الـله مـا اهـتديـنا وال تـصد يـقول والـله ل

وثـبت األقـدام إن القـينا إن األىل قـد بـغوا عـلينا إذا أرادوا فـتنة أبـينا ورفـع بـها صوته أبينا أبينا [صحیح البخاری:4104]

Narrated Bara رضـــــــــــــی الـــــــــــــلہ عـــــــــــــنہ, he said: The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) was carrying soil on the day of Trench till the dust covered his abdomen or his abdomen was fully covered with dust, and he was saying, "By Allah, without Allah we would not have been guided, neither would we have given in charity, nor would we have prayed. So (O Allah), please send Sakina (i.e. calmness) upon us, and make our feet firm if we meet the enemy as the enemy have rebelled against us, and if they intended affliction, (i.e. want to frighten us and fight against us then we would not flee but withstand them)." The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) used to

raise his voice saying, "Abaina! Abaina! (i.e. would not, we would not).Sahabah gave good news of this Du’a when offering condolences

رة فـكتب إلـيه إين ه يـوم الح يـه فـيمن أصـيب مـن أهـله وبـني عـم ه كـتب إىل أنـس بـن مـالـك يـعز عـن زيـد بـن أرقـم أنـك ببرشى من الله إين سمعت رسول الله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص قال اللهم اغفر لألنصار ولذراري األنصار ولذراري ذراريهم [سنن أيب داود:3902] أبرش

Zaid bin Arqam wrote to Anas bin Malik, comforting him over those of his family and children of his paternal uncle who suffered on the day of Harrah. So he wrote to him: "I give you glad tidings of good news from Allah. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: ' الـــلهم اغـــفر لـــألنـــصار O Allah forgive the Ansar and ولذراري األنصار ولذراري ذراريهمthe children of the Ansar, and the children of their children.”- -TheseweretheduasoftheProphet(s)fortheAnsar

ثنا شعبة عن حميد الطويل سمعت أنس بن مالك ثنا آدم حد 3796 - حدريض الله عنه قال كانت األنصار يوم الخندق تقول نحن الذين بايعوا

دا عىل الجهاد ما حيينا أبدا فأجابهم اللهم ال عيش إال عيش اآلخره محمفأكرم األنصار والمهاجره

Narrated Anas bin Malik: On the day of the battle of the Trench (i.e. Ghazwat-ul-Khandaq) the Ansar used to say, "We are those who have given the pledge of allegiance to Muhammad for Jihad (i.e. holy fighting) as long as we live." The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) , replied to them, "O Allah! There

is no life except the life of the Hereafter; so please honor the Ansar and the Emigrants.”- -Akrim:honour,value-hesaidbaarik,aslih-differentduas.Soanyonewhosupportsus,cooperateswithusinanywayinthewayofAllahthenremembertheminyourprayers:infrontofthemalsobehindthem(intheirabsence).Youcanneverpaythemforwhattheyaredoing,sotheirtruepaymentandrewardisinthehereafter,somakeduaforthat.Andalsohere:askAllahtoblessthem,pardonthem,correcttheiraffairs,makethemmorerighteous,etc.Anyonewhocooperateswithusinbirr,righteousnessandpietythenmakeduaforthem

- Makeduaforthemintheirpresencealso,becausewhentheyknowthatyouaremakingduaforthemthiswillmakethemhappy:Innasalaatakasakanullahum:Yourprayerisameansofcomfortforthem

حديث:141

ثنا ابن أيب حازم عن أبيه عن سهل د بن عبيد الله حد ثني محم 3797 - حداب قال جاءنا رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم ونحن نحفر الخندق وننقل الرت

عىل أكتادنا فقال رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم اللهم ال عيش إال عيش اآلخره فاغفر للمهاجرين واألنصار

Narrated Sahl: Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) came to us while we were digging the trench and carrying out the earth on our backs.

- -Thetrenchesweredeep,soimagineallthemudthatisbeingtakenoutanditcouldnotpushedaside,butithadtobepickedupandcarriedout.

- Mudisheavy,andontopofthattheywerehungry,exhasutedanditwascold,andtheenemywascoming-sowhywouldtheProphet(s)notprayforthem?

Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) then said, "O Allah ! There is no life except the life of the Hereafter, so please forgive the Emigrants and the Ansar."

عن انس قال أتت األنصار النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم بجامعتهم فقالوا إىل متى ننزع من هذه اآلبار فلو أتينا رسول ر لنا من هذه الجبال عيونا فجاءوا بجامعتهم إىل النبي صىل الله عليه الله صىل الله عليه وسلم فدعا الله لنا ففج

وسلم فلام رآهم قال مرحبا وأهال لقد جاء بكم إلينا حاجة قالوا إي والله يا رسول الله فقال إنكم لن تسألوين اليوم نيا تريدون فاطلبوا اآلخرة فقالوا شيئا إال أوتيتموه وال أسأل الله شيئا إال أعطانيه فأقبل بعضهم عىل بعض فقالوا الدبجامعتهم يا رسول الله ادع الله لنا أن يغفر لنا فقال اللهم اغفر لألنصار وألبناء األنصار وألبناء أبناء األنصار قالوا يا رسول الله وأوالدنا من غرينا قال وأوالد األنصار قالوا يا رسول الله وموالينا قال وموايل األنصار ۔۔۔۔۔ [و فی رواية]

وكنائن األنصار [مسند احمد:13268]

Anas (r) reported that once the Ansar stood up and said, until when will we continue to draw water out of these wells? Let us go the Prophet (S) and ask him to pray for us that some springs should flow from these mountains.

So a group of them came to the Prophet (s) and upon seeing them he (s) said, Welcome! You have come to soft and fertile ground (be at home and feel easy), and it is your home (there is room for everyone),- -Comparedtothisjust‘welcome’issoplain.Ahlanwasahlanissomuchmoremeaningful!

certainly some need of yours has brought you here. They said, By Allah, yes O Allah’s Messenger (s). HE (s) said, Whatever you ask me today I will give you, and whatever I ask Allah for you He will certainly give me. Upon this they asked each other, do you wish for dunya? ask for Akhirah instead. - -THeycameaskingfordunya,buttheychangedtheirmind:theyaskedforakhirahinstead

So they said, O Messenger of Allah, pray for our forgiveness, He (s) said, O Allah, Forgive the Ansar, the children of the Ansar and the children of their children. So they said, O Messenger of Allah (s), What about our children who are from non relatives? (Meaning, maternal grand children) So the Prophet (s) made dua for them also. Then they mentioned their slaves, so the Prophet (s) prayed for them also. In another narration it is reported that the Ansar also mentioned their daughters in law and sisters in law. - -soeagertheywereforeveryone:Lookattheirinnerquality:caringabouteveryone.Theywerenotselfsihinanyway.Wedontliketoshareorcare

The Prophet (s) made dua for the generations of the Ansar عـن أيب بـكر بـن أنـس قـال كـتب زيـد بـن أرقـم اىل أنـس بـن مـالـك يـعزيـه بولـده وأهـله الـذيـن اصـيبوا يوم الحرة فـكتب يف كـتابـه واىن مبرشك ببرشى مـن الـله سـمعت رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم يـقول الـلهم اغـفر لـألنـصار وألبـناء األنـصار

وألبناء أبناء األنصار ولنساء األنصار ولنساء أبناء األنصار ولنساء أبناء أبناء األنصار [صحيح ابن حبان:7281]

Narrated Abu Bakr bin Anas, he said that Zaid bin Arqam wrote to Anas bin Malik, he expressed his condolence for his children and family members, who were killed at the day of Harra. So he wrote in his letter, I will give you a glad tiding from Allah. I heard Allah’s Messenger saying: الــلهم اغــفر لــألنــصار وألبــناء األنــصار وألبــناء أبــناء األنــصار ولــنساء !O Allah األنـــــــصار ولـــــــنساء أبـــــــناء األنـــــــصار ولـــــــنساء أبـــــــناء أبـــــــناء األنـــــــصارForgive Ansar, the children of Ansar, the children of Ansar’s children, the women of Ansar, the women of the son’s of Ansar and the women of forthcoming son’s of Ansar.

Du’a for the servants and neighbours of the Ansar عـن مـعاذ بـن رفـاعـة بـن رافـع الـزرقـي عـن أبـيه قـال قـال رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم الـلهم اغـفر لـألنـصار ولـذرارى

األنصار ولذرارى ذراريهم وملواليهم ولجريانهم [صحيح ابن حبان:7283]

Narrated Mu`az bin Rifa`ah bin Rafi` Zuraqiyye, he narrates from his father, he said: Allah’s Messenger said: الـــــلهم اغـــــفر لـــــألنـــــصار ولـــــذرارى األنـــــصار ولـــــذرارى ذراريـــــهم وملـــــوالـــــيهم

,O Allah! Forgive Ansar, off springs of Ansar ولــــــــــــــــــجــيــرانــــــــــــــــــهــمgenerations of Ansar, their freed slaves and their neighbours.

The Dua’s of the Prophet (s) for the Ansar that affected them The Dua for Anas (r)

عن أنس بن قال: كان النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم يدخل علينا - أهل البيت- فدخل يوما، فدعا لنا، فقالت أم سليم : خويدمك أال تدعو له؟ قال: "اللهم! أكرث ماله وولده، وأطل حياته، واغفر له". فدعا يل بثالث، فدفنت مائة وثالثة،

وإن مثريت لتطعم يف السنة مرتني، وطالت حيايت حتى استحييت من الناس، وأرجو املغفرة.[صحیح االدب املفرد:509]

Anas (r) reported, that the Prophet (s) would come to his family, once he came and made dua for us, so my mother UmmSulaym said, O Messenger of Allah, this is your servant, will you not make dua for him? He (s) said, O Allah increase his wealth, his children, give him a long life and forgive him. So regarding the first three things that the Prophet (s) prayed for me - so I have buried 103 of my children, and my land produces fruit twice a year… I have been alive for so long that I am shy of people, and I hope that I will also be forgiven.

The Dua for the wife of Julaybib (r) - Noonewaswillingtomarryhim,buttheProphet(s)hadhimmarriedtoagirlfromtheAnsar.ShemarriedhimsimplybecausetheProphet(s)saidso.Aftersometime,Julaybib(r)wasmartyredinabattle,sotheProphet(S)enquired-whohaveyoulost?peoplementionedthenamesoftheirrelatives,etc.butno

onementionedJulaybib-he(s)said,IhavelostJulaybib-andwhentheyfoundhisbody,thereweresevenmushirkinkilledaroundhim-sohealonekilledthem.He(s)said,heisfrommeandIamfromhim,he(s)carriedhimandburiedhimhimself.Andheprayedforhiswidow:تجعلوالصباالخيرعليها صب اللهم

notdoandgoodnessheruponpourAllahOعيشهاكداكداmakeherlifedifLicult.Sothisduawasacceptedinherfavour.TherewasnogirlmoresoughtafterthanherinthecityofMAdina.

جـني ابـنتك فـقال نـعم وكرامـة يـا رسول الـله ونـعم عـيني فـقال إين لسـت أريـدهـا قـال رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم لرجـل مـن األنـصار زوـها فـقال رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم ـها فـأىت أم لنفيس قـال فـلمن يـا رسـول الـله قـال لجـليبيب قـال فـقال يـا رسـول الـله أشـاور أمـا يخـطبها لجـليبيب فـقالـت أجـليبيب إنـيه أجـليبيب إنـيه ه لـيس يخـطبها لـنفسه إمن يخـطب ابـنتك فـقالـت نـعم ونـعمة عـي ين فـقال إنــها قـالـت الـجاريـة مـن جـه فلام أراد أن يـقوم لـيأيت رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم ليخربه مبـا قـالـت أم أجـليبيب إنـيه ال لـعمر الـله ال تـزوه لـم يـضيعني فـانـطلق أبـوهـا إىل ره ادفـعوين فـإنـ ون عىل رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم أم رد ـها فـقالـت أت خـطبني إلـيكم فـأخربتها أمجـها جـليبيبا قـال فخـرج رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم يف غـزوة لـه قـال فلام رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم فـأخربه قـال شـأنـك بـها فـزوأفـاء الـله عـليه قـال ألصـحابـه هـل تـفقدون مـن أحـد قـالوا نـفقد فـالنـا ونـفقد فـالنـا قـال انـظروا هـل تـفقدون مـن أحـد قـالوا ال قـال لـكني أفـقد جـليبيبا قـال فـاطـلبوه يف القتىل قـال فـطلبوه فـوجـدوه إىل جـنب سـبعة قـد قـتلهم ثـم قـتلوه فـقالـوا يـا رسـول الـله هـا هـو ذا إىل جـنب سـبعة قـد قـتلهم ثـم قـتلوه فـأتـاه الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم فـقام عـليه فـقال قـتل سـبعة وقـتلوه هـذا مـني وأنـا مـنه هـذا مـني ير إال سـاعـدا رسول الـله صىل الـله وأنـا مـنه مرتني أو ثـالثـا ثـم وضـعه رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم عىل سـاعـديـه وحـفر لـه مـا لـه رسث إسـحاق بـن عـبد الـله بـن أيب طـلحة ثـابـتا قـال هـل تـعلم مـا دعـا لـها رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه عـليه وسـلم ثـم وضـعه يف قربه۔۔ وحـد

ا قال فام كان يف األنصار أيم أنفق منها [مسند احمد:19784] ا كد وسلم قال اللهم صب عليها الخري صبا وال تجعل عيشها كد

باب قول الله { ويؤثرون عىل أنفسهم ولو كان بهم خصاصة } Chapter: The statement of Allah “... (they) give them (emigrants) preference over themselves ...”

حديث:142

ثنا عبد الله بن داود عن فضيل بن غزوان عن أيب حازم عن د حد ثنا مسد 3798 - حدأيب هريرة ريض الله عنه أن رجال أىت النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم فبعث إىل نسائه فقلن ما معنا إال الامء فقال رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم من يضم أو يضيف هذا فقال

رجل من األنصار أنا فانطلق به إىل امرأته فقال أكرمي ضيف رسول الله صىل الله عليه

وسلم فقالت ما عندنا إال قوت صبياين فقال هيئي طعامك وأصبحي رساجك ونومي مت صبيانها ثم قامت صبيانك إذا أرادوا عشاء فهيأت طعامها وأصبحت رساجها ونو

كأنها تصلح رساجها فأطفأته فجعال يريانه أنهام يأكالن فباتا طاويني فلام أصبح غدا إىل رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم فقال ضحك الله الليلة أو عجب من فعالكام فأنزل الله { ويؤثرون عىل أنفسهم ولو كان بهم خصاصة ومن يوق شح نفسه فأولئك هم

المفلحون}

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to the Prophet. The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) sent a messenger to his wives (to bring something for that man to eat) but they said that they had nothing except water. Then Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "Who will take this (person) or entertain him as a guest?" - -Hasiteverhappenedtousinourlivesthatwehavenotinginourhomesexceptforwater?Whatisthelevelofourgratitudethen?

An Ansari man said, "I." - HedidntLirstcheckathishouseifhehadanyfoodornot

So he took him to his wife and said to her, "Entertain generously the guest of Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) " She said, "We have got nothing except the meals of my children." He said, "Prepare your meal, light your lamp and let your children sleep if they ask for supper." So she prepared her meal, lighted her lamp and made her children sleep, and then stood up pretending to mend her lamp, but she put it off. Then both of them pretended to be eating, but they really went to bed hungry.

- ChildrenwenttobedhungryandtheydidtooIn the morning the Ansari went to Allah's Messenger who said, "Tonight Allah laughed or was amazed at (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)your action." - ThattheymadesuchahugesacriLiceanddidnotevenmentionit.Whenwedosomethingsmallevenwehavetomentionit!

Then Allah revealed: "But give them (emigrants) preference over themselves even though they were in need of that And whosoever is saved from the covetousness of his soul, Such are they who will be successful." (59.9)- Feedingsomeonewhenyouarehungry…thatyouarehungryandsomeoneelsesittingbesdiesyouiseating,andyouarenotevenlettingthemknow-thisishusnakhlaq:excellentcharacter:Thesearethepeoplewhohadsuchbighearts,sotheywereabletosupportthedeenofAllah.Usuallyourheartsbecomeverysmall,wearenotwillingtogiveourrighttoanyone.Inaqueue?WEwouldloseourakhlaqindemandingourright

The story of Abu Dahdaah (r) عـن أنـس أن رجـال قـال يـا رسول الـله إن لـفالن نخـلة وأنـا أقـيم حـائـطي بـها فـأمره أن يـعطيني حـتى أقـيم حـائـطي بـها فـقال لـه حـداح فـقال بـعني نخـلتك بـحائـطي فـفعل فأىت الـنبي يـاه بنخـلة يف الـجنة فأىب فـأتـاه أبـو الـد الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم أعـطها إصىل الـله عـليه وسـلم فـقال يـا رسول الـله إين قـد ابـتعت النخـلة بـحائـطي قـال فـاجـعلها لـه فـقد أعـطيتكها فـقال رسول الـله صىل

حـداح اخرجـي مـن الـحائـط حـداح يف الـجنة قـالـها مرارا قـال فأىت امرأتـه فـقال يـا أم الد الـله عـليه وسـلم كـم مـن عـذق راح أليب الدفإين قد بعته بنخلة يف الجنة فقالت ربح البيع [مسند احمد:12482]

Anas (r) reported, a man came to the MEssenger of Allah (s) and said, so and so has a garden and I want to build my wall there. you order him to give me this place so I can build it. The Prophet (s) said to that man, give this place and for you is a place in paradise, but the man refused. So AbuDahdaah (r) found out about this so he went to the man and said sell your land to me, so he did. AbuDahdaah then went to the Prophet (S) and said, I have bought this garden in place of my garden (meaning by selling mine to him) so you can give it to the man. The Prophet (s) said upon hearing this: There are clusters of excellent fruit for AbuDahdaah in Jannah. - -Whenhefoundoutsomeonewasinneed,hegaveuphisgardentohelpfulLillhis.
