باب حب األنصار Chapter: To love the Ansar

حديث:127

ثنا شعبة قال أخربين عدي بن اج بن منهال حد ثنا حج 3783 - حدثابت قال سمعت الرباء ريض الله عنه قال سمعت النبي صىل الله

عليه وسلم أو قال قال النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم األنصار ال يحبهم إال مؤمن وال يبغضهم إال منافق فمن أحبهم أحبه الله ومن أبغضهم

أبغضه الله Narrated Al-Bara: I heard the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) saying (or the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said), "None loves the Ansar but a believer, and none hates them but a hypocrite. So Allah will love him who loves them, and He will hate him who hates them.”- (ع) دالبصري اجبنمنهالأبومحم ,BasrafromisHeحجImamBukhari’steacher

- Hesaid‘IheardtheProphet(s)say’,orhesaid,‘theProphet(s)said-thenarratorsnarratedthehadithwithitschainexactlyastheyheard

- LovingAnsarisapartofIman.AndonesImancannotbecompleteuntilandunlesshelovestheAnsar.LovingforthesakeofAllah,andhatingsomethingfor

thesakeofAllah,givingandwithholdingforthesakeofAllah-areallapartofcompletingfaith.

- WHowilllovetheAnsar?Theonewholovesthedeen,wholovesAllah,HisMEssenger.BEcausewhatdidtheAnsardo?TheyhelpedtheMEssenger(s).Theyspenttheirwelathandlivesforthiscause.Andtheonewhodoesnotlovethedeenwillnotlovethepeopleofthedeen.Whenyoulovesomething,andyouKindoutthatsomeoneelselovesittoo-naturallyyouwillfeelclosertothem,alinkwiththem.Sharedinterestsbringsloveandcloseness.SoifwetrulylovethedeenwemustloveallthosewhostriveforthecauseofAllah.SothosewhosacriKiceforthesakeofthedeen,donotdeserveourcontempt.Keepingsuchfeelingsforthemwillonlyharmus.Wecannotkeephatredforsuchpeople.Wecanhaveourdifferencesbutwecantletthatturnintohatred.

قال آية اإلميان حب األنصار وآية النفاق بغض األنصار

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "The sign of Belief is to love the Ansar, and the sign of hypocrisy is to hate the Ansar.”- (ع)-- ImamalsoisTHis.مسلمبنإبراهيمأبوعمرواألزديBukhairsteacher,hewasfromAzd.TheywerefromYemen,justliketheAwsandKhazraj

- Thehearthastolovesomebody….ifwedontdirectourlovetothosewhoareworthyofitwewillendupdirectingittothosewhoarenotworthyofit….weseethistoday,thatwhenwedontknoworlovetheAnsar,whoisitthatweloveinstead?Whoareourrolemodelstoday?Whodoweadmire?

حسبت أنه قال من عرس فقام النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم ممثال فقال اللهم أنتم من أحب الناس إيل قالها ثـالث مرار

Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) saw the women and children (of the Ansar) coming forward. (The sub-narrator AbdulAzeez said, "I think that Anas said, 'They were returning from a wedding party.") (On seeing them) The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) stood up (suddenly) and said thrice, "By Allah! You are from the most beloved people to me.”- التميمي(ع) اجأبومعمراملقعداملنقري بنعمروبنأبيالحج عبداهلل- ThisisImamBukharisteacher- ThePRophet(s)wouldshow,expresshislovebeforepeople.WeKindthisverystrange…ifsomeonelovesanotherandtheyexpressthatinthepresenceofotherpeople,otherpeoplewouldgetoffended…whataboutme?Sooutoffearofangeringsomepeoplewewillneverexpressourloveandappreciationforothers.

- TheProphet(s)expressedlove,sothatpeoplewouldknowwhoisthebelovedoftheMessengerofAllah?Sothatwecanalsodowhattheyaredoinginordertoearnhislove….TheProphet(s)didnotlovepeoplejustbecauseoftheirlooks,relationship,etc.butbecauseoftheiractions.

حديث:130

ثنا شعبة ثنا بهز بن أسد حد ثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم بن كثري حد 3786 - حدقال أخربين هشام بن زيد قال سمعت أنس بن مالك ريض الله عنه قال

جاءت امرأة من األنصار إىل رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم ومعها صبي لها فكلمها رسول الله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص فقال والذي نفيس بيده إنكم أحب الناس إيل

مرتني Narrated Anas bin Malik: Once an Ansari woman, accompanied by a son of hers, came to Allah's Messenger ,spoke to her and said twice (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) Allah's Messenger .(ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)"By Him in Whose Hand my life is, you are the most beloved people to me.”- -TheProphet(s)heardwhatshehadtosay,answeredherquestions,etc.andthentoldherthatyourpeoplemeaningtheAnsararebelovedtome.

- SoifwewanttobecomeworthyoftheloveoftheProphet(s),thenwehavetosupportthedeenofAllah-everyonesupportsthemselves,butsupportingthedeenwithourwealth,time,skills…fornoselKishpurposebuttohelptheDeenofAllah…Thisis

somethinginwhichapersondoesnotlookatworldlylossorgainanymore,ratherhelooksatthebeneKitsoftheakhirahonly.

Importance and virtue of loving the Ansar The Prophet (s)’s love for the Ansar

رأة مـن األنـصار إىل الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم فـخال بـها فـقال والـله عـن أنـس بـن مـالـك ريض الـله عـنه قـال جـاءت امـإنكن ألحب الناس إيل [صحیح البخاری:5234]

Narrated Anas bin Malik: An Ansari woman came to the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) and he took her aside and said (to her). "By Allah, you (Ansar) are the most beloved people to me."

The Prophet (s)’s love for the children and servants and his instruction regarding them

عـن أنـس بـن مـالـك أن الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم خـرج يـومـا عـاصـبا رأسـه ،فـتلقاه ذراري األنـصار وخـدمـهم ذخرة األنـصار يـومـئذ ، فـقال والـذي نفيس بـيده إين ألحـبكم (مرتني أو ثـالثـا) ثـم قـال إن األنـصار قـد قـضوا الـذي عـليهم وبـقي

الذي عليكم فأحسنوا إىل محسنهم و تجاوزوا عن مسيئهم [السلسلة الصحيحة:916]

Anas reported, the Prophet (s) tied his head with a wrapper once and went out, the servants and children go the Ansar met him. The Prophet (s) said 2 or 3 times, By the One in Whose Hand is my sould, Certainly I love you…The Ansar have fulfilled their obligations, and you have to fulfill yours..so you accept the good of the Ansar and look over their evils. - Thisisthesecrettohappiness.Dontforgetthegoodthatpeoplehavedone

Loving the Ansar is a sign of Iman

قال رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم آية المنافق بغض األنصار وآية المؤمن حب األنصار . [صحيح مسلم:244]

The Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: The sign of a hypocrite is the hatred against the Ansar and the sign of a believer is the love for the Ansar.عن أىب هريرة أن رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم قال ال يبغض األنصار رجل يؤمن بالله واليوم اآلخر . [صحيح مسلم:247]

It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: A person who believes in Allah and the Last Day never nurses a grudge against the Ansar.

Receiving Allah’s love ث عـن الـنبى صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم أنـه قـال ىف األنـصار ال يـحبهم إال مـؤمـن عـن عـدى بـن ثـابـت قـال سـمعت الرباء يحـد

وال يبغضهم إال منافق من أحبهم أحبه الله ومن أبغضهم أبغضه الله . [صحيح مسلم:246]

Narrated `Adi bin thabit, he said: I heard Bara' bin 'Azib reported a hadith from the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص). He said about the Ansar: "Only a believer loves them, and only a hypocrite hates them. Allah loves him who loves them and Allah hates him who hates them".- Thisissobig…theonewholovestheAnsar,thenAllahlovesthem!andtheonewhohatestheansarthenAllahhateshim!

Benefits derived from the above mentioned Ahadith First benefit: األحـاديـث دلـيل عىل فـضل أنـصار رسـول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص ، وأن مـن أحـبهم ألنـهم نـارصوا رسـول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص وديـنه، وسـعوا يف إظـهاره، وبـذلوا أموالـهم وأنـفسهم بني يـدي رسول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص ، ودافـعوا عـنه وعـن اإلسالم - مـن أحـبهم لـذلـك كـان ذلـك

عالمة عىل إميانه.

These Ahadith are the evidence on the virtue of Ansar. As to the one who loved them because they helped

Allah’s Messenger and his deen, and put their efforts in supporting the Deen and they sacrificed their wealth and lives for Allah’s Messenger and defended him and Islam. So, the one who will love them because of this reason then it will be the sign of his Iman.- 7ofthemgaveuptheirlivesonebyoneatUhudwhiledefendingtheProphet(s).Imaginethesecondonethatwentforthknowingthattheonebeforehimhadbeenmartyred…andthethirdone,andthefourthone,andtheKifthone,andthesixthone,andtheseventhone!!!knowingthatsixbeforehimhadgoneforwardtodefendtheProphet(s)andlosttheirlives….theyprovedwiththeiractionsandnotjustwords….theirtirelesssacriKiceandservingthedeen

- Thesetestscome…toseewhatwedo.willwegoforthorstarthiding?WeareafraidtoevenfacecriticisminthepathofAllah.Everyoneiscriticised…lookatAmerica’spresidentelect-washecriticisedthroughouthiscampaign?didhegiveup?soifpeopleremainsoKirmfortheirdunya,whycanwenotbeKirmforthesakeofourLord,ourdeen…?

- Ifwedontknowtheseerahourselvesthenhowwillweinstilllovefortheansarintheheartsofourchildren?

Second benefit:

األحـاديـث دلـيل عىل أن مـن أبـغض األنـصار،كـان ذلـك عـالمـة عىل نـفاقـه، وعـدم كامل إميـانـه بـالـله والـيوم اآلخـر، وفـساد رسيرته؛ ألن يف ذلك عالمة عىل بغضه ملن نارص الدين ودافع عنه، وهي عالمة منافقي زماننا

These Ahadith are the evidence that whosoever will hate the Ansar, then this will be a sign of hypocrisy. And he does not have complete faith on Allah and the last day. And his inner (heart) is polluted because it has hatred for those people who helped and defended the Deen And this the sign of hypocrisy of our times.

- -WhoaretheAnsarthatwearesupposedtolove?TheAnsarofthetimeofthePRophet(s),theirdescendentswhoareuponthedeen,andallthosewhosupportthecauseofthedeen-nomatterwhatpeopletheyarefrom,ofwhatraceofwhattime…Ineveryera,anypersonwhosupportsthecauseofAllahisworhtyofourlove.ButtheAnsarofthetimeoftheProphet(s)areprimariytheoneswhomwearecommandedtoloveastheirImanwastestedandproven,itwasestablished.Todayifsomeoneisworkingforthedeen,wedontknowwhattheirintentionis,butweshouldthinkwellofthemandlovethem.

باب أتباع األنصار Chapter: Followers of Ansar

ثنا شعبة عن عمرو سمعت أبا ثنا غندر حد ار حد د بن بش ثنا محم 3787 - حدحمزة عن زيد بن أرقم قالت األنصار يا رسول الله لكل نبي أتباع وإنا قد

اتبعناك فادع الله أن يجعل أتباعنا منا فدعا به فنميت ذلك إىل ابن أيب ليىل قال قد زعم ذلك زيد

Narrated Zaid bin Al-Arqam: The Annwar said, "O Allah's Messenger !(ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) Every prophet has his own followers and we have followed you. So will you invoke Allah to let our followers (our children) be considered from us (as Ansar too)?" So he invoked Allah accordingly.- اربنعثمانبنداودبنكيسان دبنبش بندارمحم- IntheQuranweareinstructed,SayifyouloveAllah,thenfollowme(theMEssengers),thenAllahwillloveyou…

- ThegenerationofthetimeoftheProphet(s)-theyhelpedtheMessenger(S),buttheirchildrenwereyoung,theydidnotmakethesamesacriKices,etc.sotheyrequestedtheProphet(S)thathisduabefortheirchildrenalso,andtheProphet(S)prayedforthem.

- Zaydb.Arqamnarratedthis….- ThisshowshowtheAnsarwantedbestfortheirchildren,servantsandthoseunderthem.Theydidntjsutwantgoodforthemselvesbutallthoserelatedtothem.TheyrequestedtheProphet(s)toprayforthem.

- Whenwereceivesomethinggood,howeagerlydowedesireitforothersalso?Doweliketotakeittoothers?ThisisproofofapersonsIman,hisgoodnessthathelovesforotherswhathelovesforhimself.

- Theirrequest:makeduathattheybeincludedinthe‘Ansar’also-sotheyshouldbetreatedandrespectedthewayweare.

Explanation of HadithThe sincerity of Ansar for those under them

باب اتباع األنصار أي من الحلفاء واملوايل •قوله ان يجعل اتباعنا منا أي يقال لهم األنصار حتى تتناولهم الوصية بهم باإلحسان إليهم ونحو ذلك [فتح الباری]

انصار کے پیروکار:یعنی حلیف اور آزاد کردہ غالم وںمیں سے ان کا قـول کہ ہامرے پیروکار وں کو بھی ہــم میں ســے بــنا دے یعنی ان کو بھی انــصار کہا جــائــے یہاں تک کہ

(نبیملسو هيلع هللا ىلص کی) وصیت ان کو بھی پہنچے کہ ان کے ساتھ حسن سلوک کیا جائے اور اسی طرح کے دیگر احکام۔

حديث:132

ثنا عمرو بن مرة قال سمعت ثنا شعبة حد ثنا آدم حد 3788 - حدأبا حمزة رجال من األنصار قالت األنصار إن لكل قوم أتباعا وإنا قد اتبعناك فادع الله أن يجعل أتباعنا منا قال النبي ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص اللهم اجعل أتباعهم منهم قال عمرو فذكرته البن أيب ليىل قال قد زعم

ذاك زيد قال شعبة أظنه زيد بن أرقم Narrated Abu Hamza: (A man from the Ansar) The Ansar said, "Every nation has followers and (O Prophet) we have followed you, so invoke Allah to let our followers be considered from us (as Ansar like ourselves)." So the

Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "O Allah! Let their followers be considered as Ansar like themselves.”- آدمبنأبيإياسأبوالحسنالخراساني

باب فضل دور األنصار Chapter: The superiority of the families of the Ansar

حديث:133

ثنا شعبة قال سمعت ثنا غندر حد ار حد د بن بش ثني محم 3789 - حدقتادة عن أنس بن مالك عن أيب أسيد ريض الله عنه قال قال النبي صىل ار ثم بنو عبد األشهل ثم بنو الله عليه وسلم خري دور األنصار بنو النجالحارث بن خزرج ثم بنو ساعدة ويف كل دور األنصار خري فقال سعد ما لكم عىل ل علينا فقيل قد فض أرى النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم إال قد فض

ثنا قتادة سمعت أنسا قال أبو أسيد ثنا شعبة حد مد حد كثري وقال عبد الصعن النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم بهذا وقال سعد بن عبادة

Narrated Abu Usaid: The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "The best of the Ansar's families (homes) are those of Banu An-Najjar and then (those of) Banu `Abdul Ash-hal, then (those of) Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj and then (those of) Banu Sa`ida; nevertheless, there is good in all the families (houses) of the Ansar." On this, Sa`d (bin Ubada) said, "I see that the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) has preferred some people to us." Somebody said (to him), "No, but he has given you superiority to many."

حديث:134

ثنا شيبان عن يحيى ثنا سعد بن حفص الطلحي حد 3790 - حدقال أبو سلمة أخربين أبو أسيد أنه سمع النبي صىل الله عليه ار وسلم يقول خري األنصار أو قال خري دور األنصار بنو النج

وبنو عبد األشهل وبنو الحارث وبنو ساعدة Narrated Abu Usaid: That he heard the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) saying, "The best of the Ansar, or the best of the Ansar families (homes) are Banu An-Najjar, Bani `Abdul Ash-hal, Banu Al-Harith and Banu Sai'da."

حديث:135

ثني عمرو بن يحيى عن ثنا سليامن قال حد ثنا خالد بن مخلد حد 3791 - حدعباس بن سهل عن أيب حميد عن النبي صىل الله عليه وسلم قال إن خري دور

ار ثم عبد األشهل ثم دار بني الحارث ثم بني ساعدة ويف األنصار دار بني النجكل دور األنصار خري فلحقنا سعد بن عبادة فقال أبا أسيد ألم تر أن رسول الله األنصار فجعلنا أخريا فأدرك سعد النبي صىل الله عليه صىل الله عليه وسلم خري دور األنصار فجعلنا آخرا فقال أوليس بحسبكم أن وسلم فقال يا رسول الله خري

تكونوا من الخيار Narrated Abu Humaid: The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "The best of the Ansar families (homes) are the families (homes) of Banu An- Najjar, and then that of Banu `Abdul Ash-hal, and then that of Banu Al-Harith, and then that of Banu Saida; and there is good in all the families (homes) of the Ansar." Sa`d bin 'Ubada followed us and said, "O Abu Usaid ! Don't you see that the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) compared the Ansar and made us the last of them in superiority? Then Sa`d met the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) and said, "O Allah's Messenger In comparing the Ansar's families (homes) as to the !(ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)degree of superiority, you have made us the last of them." Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) replied, "Isn't it sufficient that you are regarded amongst the best?”- خالدبنمخلدأبوالهيثمالبجلي- Similarahadithwithdifferentchainsofnarration-withslightlydifferentwordings.THisiswhyitisnecessarythatwestudyhadithwelookatitsdifferentnarrationstogetacompletepicture.

The best families of Ansar Other narrations

ول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم قـال خري دور عـن أىب الزنـاد قـال شهـد أبـو سـلمة لـسمع أبـا أسـيد األنـصارى يشهـد أن رسـار ثـم بـنو عـبد األشهـل ثـم بـنو الـحارث بـن الخـزرج ثـم بـنو سـاعـدة وىف كـل دور األنـصار خري . قـال أبـو األنـصار بـنو الـنجول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم لـو كـنت كـاذبـا لـبدأت بـقومـى بـنى سـاعـدة. وبـلغ هم أنـا عىل رسـ سـلمة قـال أبـو أسـيد أتـذلـك سـعد بـن عـبادة فـوجـد ىف نـفسه وقـال خـلفنا فـكنا آخـر األربـع أرسجوا ىل حـامرى آىت رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم . وكـلمه ابـن أخـيه سهـل فـقال أتـذهـب لرتد عىل رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم ورسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه

وسلم أعلم أوليس حسبك أن تكون رابع أربع. فرجع وقال الله ورسوله أعلم وأمر بحامره فحل عنه. [صحیح مسلم:6581]

Abu Zinad reported: Abu Salmah witnessed that he heard Abu Usaid Ansari witnessed to the fact that Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: The best families of the Ansar are of those of Banu Najjar, then of Banu 'Abu al-Aslihal and then of Banu Harith b. Khazraj, then of Banu Sa'ida and there is in every settlement of the Ansar good. Abu Salama reported that Abu Usaid said: What is being applied in accusing me about Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)? And if I were a liar, I would have started with my tribe Banu Sa'ida. When this was conveyed to Sa'd b. 'Ubada and he found (rankling) in his mind and said: We have been left behind (in the sense) that we have been (mentioned) last of the four. He (Sa'd) sid: Saddle my pony so that I should go to Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص). His

nephew talked to him and said: Are you going to contradict (the order of) precedence set by Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص), whereas Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) has the best knowledge of it? Is it not sufficient for you that you are the fourth amongst the four (best tribes of the Ansar)? So he stopped and said: Allah and His Messenger know best, and he commanded that his pony should be unsaddled.

The Tribe of Banu Najjar

عـن أنـس قـال قـدم الـنبي ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص الـمديـنة فـنزل أعىل الـمديـنة يف حـي يـقال لـهم بـنو عـمرو بـن عوف فأقـام الـنبي صىل الـله ـيوف كـأين أنـظر إىل الـنبي صىل الـله ار فـجاءوا مـتقلدي الس عـليه وسـلم فـيهم أربـع عرشة لـيلة ثـم أرسـل إىل بـني الـنج

Narrated Anas, he said: When Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) arrived at Medina, he alighted at the upper part of Medina among the people called Bani `Amr bin `Auf and he stayed with them for fourteen nights. Then he sent for the Bani Najjar, and they came, carrying their swords. ار أخوال عـبد فـقدمـنا الـمديـنة لـيال فـتنازعوا أيـهم يـنزل عـليه رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم فـقال أنزل عىل بـنى الـنج

د يـا الـمطلب أكرمـهم بـذلـك فـصعد الرجـال والـنساء فوق الـبيوت وتـفرق الغلامن والخـدم ىف الـطرق يـنادون يـا محـم

د يا رسول الله. [صحیح مسلم:7707] رسول الله يا محم(Abu Bakr said while mentioning the journey of Migration) that we (the Prophet and Abu Bakr) came to Medina during the night and the people began to contend as to where Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) should dismount. He said: I will encamp in the tribe of Najjar who were related to 'Abd ul-Muttalib from the side of mother and will honor them by becoming their guest. Then people climbed upon house-tops and women also and boys and slaves scattered in the way, and they were all calling: O Muhammad, O Messenger of Allah, O Muhammad (welcome), O Messenger of Allah (welcome).

إله إال الله هو خري يل قال نعم [مسند احمد:12543]

Narrated Anas that once Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص visited a man from Banu Najjar. Allah’s Messenger ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said to him: O uncle! Affirm ال إلـه إال اهلل, he said: I am maternal uncle or paternal uncle? Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said: No but maternal uncle. Then he said to him: affirm ال إلــــــــــــــــــه إال اهلل, (he asked) is it better for me? He said: Yes.

The masjid was built on the property of Banu Najjar ار ثـامـنوين عـن أنـس ريض الـله عـنه قـدم الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم الـمديـنة وأمـر بـبناء المسجـد فـقال يـا بـني الـنج

فقالوا ال نطلب مثنه إال إىل الله [صحيح البخاری: 1868]

Narrated Anas, he said: The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) came to Medina and ordered a mosque to be built and said, "O Bani Najjar! Suggest to me the price (of your land)." They said, "We do not want its price except from Allah" - -Theymadesuchagreatinvestment

Adhan was given from the roof of a house that belonged to a woman from BanuNajjar

ن عليه الفجر ار قالت كان بيتى من أطول بيت حول المسجد وكان بالل يؤذ عن امرأة من بنى النج[سنن أيب داود:519]

A woman from Banu Najjar said: My house was the loftiest of all the houses around the mosque (of the Prophet at Medina). Bilal used to make a call to the morning prayer from it.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik: that the Prophet passed by some part of Madinah and saw some girls beating their Daff and singing, saying: “We are girls from Banu Najjar (and we are happy) what an excellent neighbor is Muhammad.” The Prophet said: “Allah knows that you are dear to me.”

Narrated Kharijah bin Zaid that his father Zaid told him that when the prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص came to Madinah, I was presented to him and he got happy looking at me. It was narrated from Yuhannas that when Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib came to Madinah, he married to Khawlah bint Qais bin Qahd Ansariyah, the (woman) of Bnau Najjar.

بنو عبد االشہلBanu Abd al-Ashhal

They had come to MAdina for some work, seeking the help of quraysh against the khazraj. The Prophet (s) came to them and sat with them and said shall I tell you about something better than what you came to get? They said, what is it? He said, I am the Messenger of Allah, and Allah has sent me to His servants so that I invite them to worship Allah alone and not associate any partner with Him, and He has sent down on me His book, then He mentioned Islam and recited the Quran to them. So Iyas said, by Allah this is better than what

you came to get here….A man took a handful of dust and threw it on the face of Iyas.. so the Prophet (s) got up and left and they also returned to MAdina. It was narrated that Abu Rafi said: "After the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) had prayed Asr, he would go to Banu 'Abdul-Ashhal to speak to them, until the time for

Maghrib came." Abu Rafi said: "While the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) was hastening to pray Maghrib, we passed by Baqi`and he said: 'Fie on you, fie on you!' That upset me so I slowed down because I thought hat he meant me. He said: 'What is the matter with you? Keep up!' I said: 'Is there something I did wrong?' He said: 'Why are you asking that? I said: 'Because you said: "Fie on you" to me.' He said: 'No, that was so-and-so whom I had sent to collect Zakat from the tribe of so-and-so, and he stole a shawl and now he is clothed with something similar made of Fire."'

AbuHurayra (r) once asked the people, tell me of a man who never prayed a single prayer but entered paradise? they couldnt name him… so he said أصــــــــــيرم from the tribe of BanuAsh-hal - he came and asked, should I accept Islam first or fight in the way of Allah? (This was right before a battle). the Prophet (s) told him to embrace ISlam first, so he did and then went to fight in the battle and was martyred.

عـن عـائـشة كـان يف بـني عـبد األشهـل ثـالثـة مل يـكن بـعد الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم أفـضل مـنهم سـعد بـن •معاذ وأسيد بن حضري وعباد بن برش [تهذيب التهذيب]

`Aisha narrated that Banu Ashhal had three men. None were better than these after the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص: Sa`d bin Mu`az, Usaid bin Hudhair and `Ubad bin Bashr.

The leader of Banu Ash-hal: Sa’d b. Ubadah عـن محـمود بـن لـبيد قـال : ملـا أصـيب أكحـل سـعد يوم الـخندق فـثقل حولوه عـند امرأة يـقال لـها رفـيدة ،و كـانـت تـداوي الجرحـى ، فـكان الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم إذا مـر بـه يـقول كـيف أمسـيت ؟ و إذا أصـبح قـال كـيف أصـبحت ؟ فيخربه حـتى كـانـت الـليلة الـتي نـقله قـومـه فـيها ، فـثقل فـاحـتملوه إىل بـني عـبد األشهـل إىل مـنازلـهم وجـاء رسول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص كام كـان يـسأل عـنه وقـالوا قـد انـطلقوا بـه فخـرج رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم وخرجـنا مـعه فأرسع امليش حـتى تـقطعت شـسوع نـعالـنا و سـقطت أرديـتنا عـن أعـناقـنا ، فـشكا ذلـك إلـيه أصـحابـه يـا رسول الـله أتـعبتنا يف امليش فـقال: إين أخـاف أن تسـبقنا املـالئـكة إلـيه فتغسـله كام غسـلت حـنظلة فـانتهـى رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم إىل الـبيت وهـو يغسـل وأمـه تـبكيه وهـي تـقول ويـل أمـك سـعد حزامـة وجـدا فـقال رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم : كـل نـائـحة تـكذب إال أم

سعد . [السلسلة الصحيحة:1158] محـمود بـن لبید کہتے ہیں کہ جـب خـندق کے دن سـعد رضی الـلہ عـنہ کے بـازو کی رگ میں زخـم لـگ گیا۔لوگوں نـے ان کو رفیدہ نـامی عـورت کے پـاس مـنتقل کر دیا،کیونکہ وہ زخـمیوں کا عـالج کرتی تھی۔نبی ملسو هيلع هللا ىلصجـب ان کے پـاس گـزرتـے تـو پـوچھتے:تـم نـے کیسی شـام پـائی؟اور جـب صـبح کے وقـت آتـے تـو کہتے:تـم نـے کیسی صـبح پـائی؟وہ اپنی صـورتـحال واضـح کرتـے۔یہاں تک کہ وہ رات آگئی جـس میں ان کی قـوم نـےانہیں وہـاں سـے مـنتقل کر دیا اور انہیں اٹھا کر بـنو عـبد االشھل کے گھروں میں لـے گـئے،رسـول الـلہ ملسو هيلع هللا ىلصحسـب عـادت ان کا حـال دریافـت کرنـے کے لیے ترشیف الئـے۔انـہوں نـے بـتایا کہ وہ انہیں لـے گـئے ہیں،سـو رسـول الـلہ ملسو هيلع هللا ىلصچـل دئیے اور ہـم بھی آپ کے سـاتھ ہـو رنـے لـگ ردنـوں سـے گـ لیے،آپ اتنی تیزی سـے چـلے کہ ہامرے جـوتـوں کے تـسمے ٹـوٹ گـئے اور ہامری چـادریں گـگئیں،صـحابـہ نـے آپ سـے شکایت کرتـے ہـوئـے کہا:اے الـلہ کے رسـول!آپ نـے ہمیں (تیزی سـے)چـال کر تھکا دیا ہـے۔آپ ملسو هيلع هللا ىلصنـے فرمـایا:مجھے انـدیشہ ہـے کہ کہیں ان کو غسـل دینے میں فرشـتے ہـم سـے سـبقت نـہ لـے جـائیں،جیسا کہ وہ اس سـے پہـلے حـنظلہ کو غسـل دے چکے ہیں۔جـب رسـول الـلہ ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص گھر تک پـہنچے تـو ان کو غسـل دیا جـارہـا تھااوران کی مـاں رو رہی تھی اور کہ رہی تھی:او سـعد!تیری مـاں کی ہـالکت(تیری)عـقلمندی اور سـخاوت(کےگـم ہـو نے کی وجہ سے) (یعنی تیرے مرنے سے عقلمندی اورسخاوت بھی ختم ہو گئی،یہ تیری ماں کا ایک نقصان ہے)

رسول اللہملسو هيلع هللا ىلصنے فرمایا:ہر نوحہ کرنے والی جھوٹ بولتی ہے،ما سوائے ام سعد کے۔

Asmaa bt. Yazeed

عـن أسامء بـنت يـزيـد إحـدى نـساء بـني عـبد األشهـل تـقول مـر بـنا رسـول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص ونـحن يف نـسوة فسـلم عـلينا وقـال مني قـال لـعل إحـداكـن أن تـطول أميـتها بني أبـويـها وتـعنس مني فـقلنا يـا رسـول الـله ومـا كـفر المنع يـاكـن وكـفر المنع إ

فريزقها الله عز وجل زوجا ويرزقها منه ماال وولدا فتغضب الغضبة فراحت تقول ما رأيت منه يوما خريا قط [مسند احمد:27561]

اسامء بـنت یزید " جـن کا تـعلق بنی عـبداالشہـل کی عـورتـوں سـے ہـے " کہتی ہیں کہ ایک مرتـبہ رسـول الـلہ ہامرے پـاس سـے گـذرے ، ہـم کچھ عـورتـوں کے سـاتھ تھے،آپ نـے ہمیں سالم کیا اور فرمـایا احـسان کرنـے والـوں کی نـاشکری سـے اپـنے آپ کو بـچاؤ، ہـم نـے عرض کیا یا رسـول الـلہ ! احـسان کرنـے والـوں کی نـاشکری سـے کیا مراد ہـے؟ آپملسو هيلع هللا ىلص نـے فرمـایا ہـو سکتا ہـے کہ تـم میں سـے کوئی عورت اپـنے مـاں بـاپ کے یہاں طـویل عرصـے تک رشـتے کے انـتظار میں بیٹھی رہـے ، پھر الـلہ عزوجـل اسـے شـوہـر عـطاء فرمـا دے اور اس سـے اسـے مـال ودولـت بھی عـطاء فرمـا دے اور وہ پھر کسی دن غــصے میں آکر یوں کہہ دے کہ میں نــے تــو تــم ســے(زنــدگی میں) کسی ایک دن بھی خیر نہیں

Narrated Aisha رضـــــــــي اهلل عـــــــــنها, she said: The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) engaged (nikkah) me when I was a girl of six (years). We came to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani al-Harith bin Khazraj.

Their role in Hunyan قـال عـباس شهـدت مـع رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم يوم حنني فـلزمـت أنـا وأبـو سـفيان بـن الـحارث بـن عـبد الـمطلب ار وىل المسـلمون مـدبـريـن ۔۔۔۔۔۔ فـقال رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ فلام الـتقى المسـلمون والـكفمرة . فـقال عـباس وكـان رجـال صـيتا فـقلت بـأعىل صوىت أيـن رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم أى عـباس نـاد أصـحاب الـسوىت عـطفة الـبقر عىل أوالدهـا. فـقالـوا يـا لـبيك يـا لـبيك قـال والـله لـكأن عـطفتهم حني سـمعوا صـ مرة قـال فـ أصـحاب الـسعـوة عىل بـنى عـوة ىف األنـصار يـقولـون يـا معرش األنـصار يـا معرش األنـصار قـال ثـم قرصت الـد ار والـد فـاقـتتلوا والـكفالـحارث بـن الخـزرج فـقالـوا يـا بـنى الـحارث بـن الخـزرج يـا بـنى الـحارث بـن الخـزرج. فـنظر رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم وهـو عىل بـغلته كـالـمتطاول عـليها إىل قـتالـهم فـقال رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم هـذا حني حـمى الـوطـيس .

It has been narrated on the authority of 'Abbas who said: I was in the company of the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) on

the Day of Hunain. I and Abd Sufyan b. Harith b. 'Abd al-Muttalib stayed with the Messenaer of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) …. When the Muslims had an encounter with the disbelievers, the Muslims fled, falling back, … the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص), said: Abbas, call out to the people of al-Samura. Abbas (who was a man with a loud voice) called out at the top of the voice: Where are the people of Samura? (Abbas said:) And by Allah, when they heard my voice, they came back (to us) as cows come back to their calves, and said: We are present, we are present! 'Abbas said: They began to fight the infidels. Then there was a call to The Ansar. Those (who called out to them) shouted: O ye party of the Ansar! O party of the Ansar! Banu al-Harith b. al-Khazraj were the last to be called. Those (who called out to them) shouted: O Banu Al-Harith b. al-Khazraj! O Banu Harith b. al-Khazraj! And the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) who was riding on his mule looked at their fight with his neck stretched forward and he said: This is the time when the fight is raging hot.

Narrated Usama bin Zaid: Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) rode a donkey, equipped with a thick cloth-covering made in Fadak and was riding behind him. He was going to pay

visit to Sa`d bin Ubada in Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj; and this incident happened before the battle of Badr.

ه قـال كـنا جـلوسـا مـع رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم إذ جـاءه رجـل مـن األنـصار فسـلم عـليه ثـم أدبـر عـن عـبد الـله بـن عـمر أنـاألنـصارى فـقال رسول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم يـا أخـا األنـصار كـيف أخـى سـعد بـن عـبادة . فـقال صـالـح. فـقال رسول الـله صىل الـله ـباخ عـليه وسـلم مـن يـعوده مـنكم فـقام وقـمنا مـعه ونـحن بـضعة عرش مـا عـلينا نـعال وال خـفاف وال قالنـس وال قـمص منىش ىف تـلك الس

حتى جئناه فاستأخر قومه من حوله حتى دنا رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم وأصحابه الذين معه. [صحیح مسلم:2177]

'Abdullah b. 'Umar reported, he said: While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص), a person, one of the Ansar, came to him and greeted him. The Ansari then turned back. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: O brother of Ansar, how is my brother Sa'd be 'Ubada? He said: He is better. The Messenger of Allah said: Who amongst you would visit him? He (the (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)Prophet) stood up and we also got up along with him, and we were more than ten persons. We had neither shoes with us, nor socks, nor caps, nor shirts. We walked on the barren land till we came to him. His people around him kept away till the Messenger of Allah and his Companions with him came near him (Sa'd (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)b. 'Ubada).
