Come on! Improve your languageCome on! Improve your language

FeelWe felt that the students around were not interacting with each other in English. They prefer Tamil only. They feel that the regional languages are easier to interact. They think that they will be criticized on making mistakes while speaking. They do communicate in English only in their English periods.

Imagine• The students do not have the habit of

reading newspapers regularly. Even if they are instructed by the teachers, they speak English in the presence of that teacher and they begin to talk in their regional language if a leader is appointed, inspite of his/her insistment the students do not follow. So we felt that these problems are to be solved by developing our school students’ English fluency. We thought of something…………….

DO We thought of organizing a club in our school,

related to this problem we named our club as Shakespeare literary association. This was started on a motto of conducting a programme, a week It was like this – each will be given a topic and three from that section would speak about it for 3 minutes with a duration of one week to prepare. As an initial one, we gave topics for VI std to VIII std and we announced it in each class in the name of our association. This has to be conducted in the week end. The programme was supposed to be conducted like this. “3 students, 3 minutes , same topic, Saturday VIII period, with self introduction’” which would boost their language .

DO As we expected all the kids were rocking.

Every participants gave their speech in a good language. Everyone had a good moral in their speech. And then we started interacting with their students to know about their problems and difficulties on speaking English. Through this contest we were able to motivate the students some what to improve their language. We were happy to see the change and the spoken skill brought among our students. We were glad, because we got a chance to make a change through this contest.

DO We made them and compelled

them to answer us in English. They managed to answer us , but word by word, we joined together and made a proper sentence. It was so funny to hear their language We conversed with each and every student of those classes, so that they may feel good about themselves while others talk to them.
