  • 7. Examine the current profile design.

    8. Select the Vertical Optimization button.

    The Vertical Optimization panel willdisplay.

    9. In order to submit a vertical optimizationyou will need to have enough cloudcredits in your Autodesk 360 account inorder to proceed.

    10. Login to Autodesk 360 on the Main toolbar.

    11. Back in the optimization dialog selectthe click here to check in the dialog todetermine how many credits arerequired.

    12. Press the Optimize It button to send thejob to the service.

  • Demonstration: RoadLayout ToolsIn this section of the demonstration, youwill examine the tools for laying out adesign road.

    You will do the following:

Layout roads of different types Identify differences rules have on

    different road types.

Demonstration SetupBefore you can complete thesedemonstrations, you must first havedownloaded the dataset that is included inthe first demonstration.1. Select the proposed roadway

    bookmark.

    2. Select the Roads tool, choose localroad.

    3. Draw a road in the proposedlocation.

    4. Right click and choose end draw tocomplete the road.

    5. Draw a second proposed road usingthe Freeway tool.

    6. Observe the difference between thetwo tools.

  • Demonstration: HorizontalEdit ToolsIn this section of the demonstration, youwill use the edit tools for adjusting thehorizontal layout of the road.

    You will do the following:

Change the type of a curve Adjust the Radius and Spiral length Examine curve properties Remove a curve Add a curve Adjust a curve in canvas

Demonstration SetupBefore you can complete thesedemonstrations, you must first havedownloaded the dataset that is included inthe first demonstration.1. Select one of the roads you created

    in the previous exercise.

    2. In a top down or nearly top downview right click near a curve.

    3. Change the curve type.

    4. Right click again near a curve andchoose edit curve.

    5. Use the curve slider to adjust thecurve radius or spiral length(ifapplicable).

    6. Right click near a curve and selectcurve properties.

    7.

    Examine the values in curveproperties.

  • Demonstration: VerticalEdit ToolsIn this section of the demonstration, youwill examine the tools available for editingthe vertical design of the roadway.

    You will do the following:

Identify a curve in model & profileview

Adjust a vertical curve length incanvas

Add & remove vertical curves incanvas

Edit vertical curves in profile view Recreate entire vertical design Examine vertical curve properties

Demonstration SetupBefore you can complete thesedemonstrations, you must first havedownloaded the dataset that is included inthe first demonstration.1. Rotate the view to be looking from an

angle greater than 45degrees to the sideof the roadway.

    2. The vertical edit gizmos will appear inCanvas.

    3. Use the PVI and Curve Length gizmos tomodify the vertical design of theroadway.

    4. Right click and chose show in profile tobring up a profile view of the road.

    5. Use the remove and add vertical curvecommands from the right click menu inCanvas.

    6.

Use the same commands in the profileview right click menu to alter yourdesign.
